About this property
Mystic - Island retreat
Spend Thanksgiving by the sea in this lovely island home located on Mason's Island between the New England villages of Mystic and Stonington Borough. Walk to Kitchen Little for the best breakfast you'll ever eat and stroll out to Ender's Island and imagine you have arrived on the shores of Italy. On Saturday, Santa arrives by tugboat and lighted boat parade, and you won't want to miss that! Do your Christmas shopping easily in Olde Mystic Village and the charming shops in Stonington Borough. If thrifting is what you like, you can shop at The Como in the Borough, or Blue Mitten and Johnycake's in Westerly, RI, 9 miles away. Head to Watch Hill for a peaceful walk on East Beach, finished off with a cocktail on the porch at Ocean House. On the way home, stop at Dogwatch for dinner on the dock or Seawell to pick up lobster rolls to bring home for dinner on the backyard patio. At dusk, keep your eyes open for deer and coyote beyond my fence. Home is a charming 3-bedroom cape, filled with ocean breezes on quiet lane. Open floor plan and sunlit living room with French doors leading to a screened porch and beautiful gardens beyond. The back yard is fenced. A sitting room is filled with books to read at your leisure. Second floor master bedroom has a view of Long Island Sound. Three marinas within walking distance, a 10 minute walk to Kitchen Little for breakfast, fish market and newly-built YMCA with pool, classes, gym, playground and sandy beach. Bring or rent kayaks to launch from the shore nearby to explore Mystic and Stonington from the water. One mile walk to serene Ender's Island, a retreat known for its ocean front and gardens. Perfect spot for fishing, picnics and collecting sea glass. Walk two miles to Mystic shops, restaurants and the famous drawbridge. Minutes to Amtrak station and I-95. We found this home to be cozy and well located for touring around Mystic and Stonington. Comfortably accommodated our party of five. The owner was extremely communicative and helpful directing us to sites and restaurants. Owner also encouraged us to use the fireplace, which was perfect for the cold November evenings.
The location on Mason Island is fantastic. We very much enjoyed being in the resort town of Mystic. There's so much to do in the area - swimming, shopping, hiking, boating, museums, restaurants, and more. The house was great - in a quiet neighborhood, with a lovely yard - very relaxing - plenty of room. Our family had a glorious vacation together.

My guests were lovely. Home was spotless when I returned and we had lovely communication before, during and after their stay.
Kevin's home is spacious and cozy. Surrounded by books with the perfect sunroom to curl up and read. We stayed for six days and it was perfect for our family of four, including two kids. Communicating with Kevin was a true pleasure and we would stay there again anytime.

Amy’s family was perfect in every way. Lovely to communicate with, wonderful guests.
When I walked into Mystic Retreat I felt at home. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood on Masons Island. It was as if I were staying at my sisters, but she wasn’t home. The vibe is peaceful. The back patio is a great spot to relax & chat. The owners artistic personality graces the house. There’s every amenity you would have at home. Nice trip!
Thank you Kevin,
Great communication before during and after our stay.
Relaxing trip even with the heat wave! Wish our daughters & family could have come, plenty of room. First floor Open so air circulated and stayed cool while we were out on adventure's.
Home was clean all furniture comfortable.
Beautiful breeze in the yard & through the screened in porch.
Walk a block away to see the sunset.
Breath taking!
Close to everything 5 min Mystic village shops, 25 min Misquamicut Beach RI & and so much in between.

Beth and her cohorts were wonderful guests. She kept me amused by her comments and could not have been nicer. My house was spotless when I returned which I really appreciated.
My husband and I stayed in this lovely Mystic home for 8 nights. My son joined us for the last night.
This charming home looks deceptively small from the outside but, magically, when you open the front door, the first floor is very large and open and bathed in light. The living room has a big comfy couch, chairs, a great table for games and eating and is connected to a wonderful kitchen packed with everything you could possibly need.
Off this area is a roomy screened-in sunporch with a vaulted ceiling and more comfy couches. Having coffee in the morning out on the porch or reading out there by lamplight at night was a delight.
There is also a large, sunny front room with comfortable chairs and fabulously stocked bookshelves. This is an artistic home - there are objects of interest everywhere. Even on rainy days, we still felt we were on vacation because the house itself was such a treat.
The three bedrooms upstairs are very pretty. Each room has a ceiling fan. The host left extra fans and there is a powerful ductless air conditioner in the master bedroom (also downstairs). We were visiting during a terrible heat wave but found the fans and the air conditioning more than sufficient. And we are very particular about the heat. The bathrooms were more than fine, especially the upstairs bath. Water pressure was great.
This is a special place. The host is lovely. She was available for help or questions immediately. It was very hard to leave and we hope to come back.
