2B/1B Cabana AC and steps to the beach! With sparkling pool & Starlink Wifi
The property is unique to Roatan. Just off the main road is a private beach area. This area is part of the Roatan Marine Park preserve. The reef system parallels the white sand beach of Sandy Bay. Right off shore is an underwater ecological paradise teaming with tropical fish, and corals. This is a quiet tranquil area without high end hotels and condos, yet close to the tourist meccas. The island style cabanas are nestled in a beautifully landscaped jungle canopy setting to keep the homes cool and breezy. The property has on site security. The beach front includes a private 300 ft. long pier accessible only by Sundancer guests. The pier has an upper deck for sunning, and a shaded palapa over the water. Just off Sundancer's Pier to the right is a natural deep water channel that allows larger sea life to come and go on the reef. Often seen are large squads of squid, eagle rays, turtles, huge grouper and large parrot fish. This natural opening in the reef also makes it easy for boats to pick you up for fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and touring.
Sundancer Cabanas are conveniently located in upper Sandy Bay, with grocery stores just 5minutes away. West End is about a 6 minute taxi ride headed West. The airport is a 10 – 15 minute ride away. The long Sandy Bay Beach stretch offers a variety of Roatan Island activities. The Salty Mango restaurant is right next door, to the east, and Lawson’s Rock is next door to the west, with a morning café, and restaurant. Anthony’s Key Resort is 1 mile to the west, with dolphin encounters, restaurant, plus a medical facility, offering COVID testing. You can rent a car or scooter to explore the island as well. This home is close to the pool, and only a few steps to the beach. It has an onsite washer and dryer, fast internet, 2 bedrooms, each with a split AC unit. A fully stocked kitchen, and everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. The grounds are well maintained and enjoyable to explore. The two story dock is great for watching sunsets. Just off the shore is some of the best snorkeling on the island. You will see dive boats that bring guests to this area as the reef is close enough to swim out to. This unit and my other one 11B El Papagyo have it all. We look forward to hosting you!

We wanted a place a little more quiet and relaxed and this fit the bill perfectly.Conrad is a great host and was there anytime i had a question or small issue. The dock is awesome for relaxing and watching sunset. The property grounds are meticulously maintained everyday. Will absolutely stay here again, and hopefully bring our whole travel crew and rent multiple places from this wonderful host!
Cozy and comfortable location just off beach. A/C being included was huge benefit. Patio was great for morning coffee. Host and manager always available. Filtered water dispenser also a plus!
We enjoyed 4 weeks at Sundancer learning how to navigate island life. We thoroughly enjoyed fishing and relaxing in hammocks on the community dock! Lots of people snorkel right from the dock. The host was incredibly accommodating and responsive and has the most reliable internet service! We will definitely stay here again!
We rented the bottom floor of a two story house. It was steps to the beach and to Blue Island Divers a couple of docks down the beach. The place was quiet and had everything we needed to enjoy our week.
This place is definitely rustic. But for the price of approx 100 a night it is completely worth it. For the positives: water cooler, an absolute luxury! The ACs and new fans in the bedrooms! And the washer/ dryer was GREAT and needed! The LOCATION is key. Easy access to both north shore and west end, sandy bay, airport, shopping, food. And most importantly a beautiful, healthy reef about a 5 min swim from the dock. I saw a moray eel, 2 rays, lion fish, crazy amount of beautiful coral and sponges. Pool is nice and accessible. Kitchen is stocked with appliances but the stove is old! Screened in porch is a plus. As for the negatives. Living room furniture is uncomfortable, wicker. And TV is mounted weirdly. However Conrad the host has been very amenable to these issues and promises to look into them. I will definitely book again at this price point.

Property was exactly as described in photos and in summary! Clean, comfortable and beach was right down the path. While it is possible to swim to the nearby reef for snorkeling, I’d highly recommend the kayak rental that is a 5 minute walk down the beach. Inexpensive and kind staff! We would definitely rent from Conrad again at Sundancer, or at another one of his properties. Very communicative and knowledgeable!
I stayed here for a week with a friend. We found the property to be rustic, but clean. The bedrooms were nice with spacious closets and dressers. The kitchen was adequately equipped for our needs (coffee maker, microwave, dishes, utensils, toaster oven). The location was quiet and secluded as advertised, but close to plenty of restaurants and to both West End and West Bay. It can be a bit difficult to find at first, but we received good instructions on how to get there. The front porch was very nice to sit on at night with great breezes, but make sure you use good bug spray. The beach was a short walk from the property and the private dock was nice. The water wasn't swimmable from the shore because of the turtle grass, but you can enter the water from the steps on the dock. Both Conrad and Vanessa the property manager were easy to work with and very prompt to reply to messages.
Both Conrad and Maritza were quick to remedy an issue with the bbq. The screened patio was very nice. It was like sitting in a tropical garden while watching birds, lizards and agoutis. The grounds are well maintained as well as the pool. On site staff- the grounds keepers and security guards were all very friendly. The inside of the unit was well appointed and bed comfortable.
The place needs new windows there is masking tape on most windows to keep bugs out the bathroom looks to be original shower is very small needs an overhaul the kitchen has newer counters but they were put on the old original cupboards the place needs freshening up other than that it served it’s purpose. The pool had some serious circulation problems for most of our stay.Don’t think I would recommend it. Luke was great very accommodating superb Property Manager wish I could have him for my Properties in Canada

It is really unfortunate that you had such a terrible time yet never mentioned it to my property manager in the 3 + weeks of your stay . As far as the pool , the pool was being upgraded with a new pool filter and pump and there was a slight delay on the island getting it installed . Being that Sundancer is beach front and the fact the the pool didn’t meet your standards for about 5 days is really unfortunate .
Most people love the simple cabanas and it is a well known fact that mine are more upgraded that all the rest . It would a legitimate complaint if the unit DIDN'T match the pictures, but it does. Your description is quite the stretch of the truth as the windows are fine, they are just the Jalousie type windows which are very common in humid areas. Hopefully your next visit to the island you will find someplace more to your liking that has the style of cupboards you approve of , maybe a resort with 5x the people at 10X the price .
I always tell people if they want to stay at a place exactly like home, maybe they should stay at home . It is very telling to me that a person that is staying at a BEACH FRONT community and one of the best docks in the area , complains about the community pool being cloudy … okay . All
I can say is Good Luck next year !
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the reef house in Sundancer. Communication with the owner and property manager is excellent. They are exceptionally helpful with any matter that comes up. They supplied an air pump for our use to inflate a SUP when our pump arrived broken in our luggage. The cabana has everything you need to make for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It is a short walk to the beach to enjoy excellent snorkeling from the community dock, a short walk to a community pool, and an added bonus this year was the opening of Coconuts Bar and Grill at the road entrance to the Sundancer community. Sundancer is a welcoming community of rustic cabanas that are close enough to meet your neighbors but far enough away to maintain privacy, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and it's a very relaxed and slower paced environment. Many neighbors and other vacationers meet nightly at the dock to view beautiful sunsets and enjoy beverages! Would definitely stay here again.
This two story house is located on a beautiful property with immaculately kept gardens. It's also steps away from the beach and a very nice dock that is shared with the other properties.
The good: the dock was very nice. We saw rays, barracuda and lots of other fish from the dock almost daily.
The reef is a bit far out but spectacular to snorkel! Much less boat traffic than in the western part of the island.
The house has AC in the bedrooms and it was included in the price of the rental which was nice.
The property manager, Luke, was super nice and helpful with all our questions and issues, thank you!!
The bad: the house and the whole property was surprisingly noisy.
You can hear music late into the night and dogs barking and roosters crowing early in the morning/night.
You can also hear people moving through the whole house as if they are in your bedroom. There were people staying above us and we could hear them clearly as soon as they woke up.
Also, there are motion sensors around the property that go off a lot and shine a light into the bedrooms off and on throughout the night If you have a light sleep or like quiet then this property is not for you!!
Overall it's fairly priced and an ok choice for two couples to stay for a week.

Well thank you for the very detailed review, I am glad that it sounds like you had a good time overall.
So let me address "the bad' as you put it.
SunDancer is known to be a very quiet getaway from the noise and bustle of the bar haven the West End. It is so quiet that it is not uncommon to hear the surf of the reef nearby, It really is THAT quiet.
As you stated the property while on the beach, is surrounded with lush well kept jungle/garden vegetation so after nightfall it can be VERY dark. There are motion sensors located along the foot paths for safety so guests don't trip and fall, so most people appreciate the added touch that the association does to keep people from falling or tripping at night. Again these are only on the foot paths and in front of the units , so I am confused how the light would shine in any of the bedrooms which are located in the rear of the unit.
Your unit is a bottom unit as shown in the various pictures. The unit that is located upstairs that your complaint is about isn't a vacation renal. The owners of that upstairs unit only use it 3 weeks of the year
so almost 50 weeks of the year it is empty and unfortunately apparently for you, it was one of their weeks to stay at their unit. They are very nice and always helpful to my guests , so when I shared your review with them about being too noisy they were shocked and said you could have mentioned it to them and they would have tried to be more quiet, even though sometimes it is challenging to be quiet as a mouse in a wooden structure . But they wondered why said you never mentioned it in numerous conversations you had with them.
Finally roosters crowing and dogs barking in the early mornings..... Well all I can say is, "Welcome to Central America" that is fairly common ANYWHERE you go. While I understand it might of not been ideal for you , but I do believe if you have those type of expectations in a place like Roatan, you might want to reconsider and stay at a resort of some sort in a more metropolitan area and skip the charms of a more rural island in Central America in the future .
But as I stated in the beginning, I am glad that it sounded like you had a good time at one of my properties overall , because that is what i strive to accomplish .
Property is as described. The host was easy to get a hold of and comminicated quickly. Physical location is great. Drive time to any of the attractions was reasonable. It is also a quiet neighborhood.
The pier is a great feature of this property. Being able to go down and either watch the sunset or swim was great. It also made a great point to snorkel out from. The reef is a couple hundres meters out, but was very easy to swim to.
All in all, this was a great stay and I would recommend staying here.
Great little cabana that had everything we needed. Nice cool bedrooms and screened in porch was a plus. The grounds were immaculate and we enjoyed having the pool so close. Only improvement would be the shower. Also watch out for sand fleas on the beach!
great location - away from the crowds of West End / close enough to get there to shop / eat when u want (10 mins drive).
Next to the ocean: 1 min walk to the beach. The reef is a 15? 20? min swim away (& i'm a slow swimmer) if u like snorkeling - I really enjoyed being able to do every day w/ no worries about packing / carrying stuff around.
My daughter went diving every day at Blue Island Divers next door. Great team - very friendly.
The property has a very nice screened in porch which was very nice and handy, one minutes to the ocean and dock. Snorkelling was very good and you could swim to the reef from shore ( a fair distance but manageable), a real bonus for us. Pool was a nice place to quickly cool off.
We loved waking up to the sounds of the many birds including the morning doves that started singing an hour before the other birds:) Screened in deck was wonderful for our coffee and tea in the morning and our wine and beer in the evening:) The grounds are very well kept and you can take awesome walks down the beach:) The other guests staying longer were very nice and helpful in how to save money around the island:) Just before sunset everyone goes down to the pier to watch the beautiful sunsets and have a cocktail:) We would definitely stay again;)

Why they chose this property
A tropical private beach & reef front vacation rental community in Sandy Bay on Roatan Island in the Bay Islands of Honduras. This unique privately owned cabana community is located between themain road and the beach front. The island style cabanas are nestled in a beautifully landscaped jungle canopy setting to keep the homes cool and breezy. The property has on site security. The beach front includes a private 300 ft. long pier is shared by the small community. The pier has an upper deck for sunning, a shaded palapa over the water and a lower water level snorkel platform with angled stairs for easy access in and out of the water
What makes this property unique
Sandy Bay is located on the island's north shore toward the western end . Miles of beautiful beaches trim the shore with just a short swim to the living coral reef. Unlike the beach at West Bay, Sandy Bay offers peaceful relaxation in an uncrowded atmosphere and a much more enjoyable reef snorkeling experience. Dive operators are in the area for your SCUBA diving or lessons; most will do fishing charters, too
