About this property
A Little Camp with Big Views & Amazing Sunsets Steps from Moosehead Lake
Due to cancellation there is availability for the International Sea Plane Fly-In in September! Book now before it's gone.
Little Moose Camp was built around 1930 as part of the Birch Point Sporting Camps just 1 mile from downtown Greenville. The cabin is steps from the water and almost every window has views of the lake. The screened porch and yard (fire pit!) offer up gorgeous views across the lake at Little Moose and Big Moose Mountains where you can sip wine to the sunset. You will even be able to watch the seaplanes take off and land. Although the sporting camp no longer exist, this cabin has been restored and provides a wonderful escape from the rest of the world and brings you back in time just a little bit to the North Woods.
The camp has an all new kitchen and bathroom and is decorated in the spirit of the Maine woods with many pieces from local artisans, repurposed items, and lovely textiles. The bird feeders bring a wonderful variety of birds including hummingbirds, cedar waxwings, goldfinches, and purple finches. You might also meet the resident chipmunks who are known to beg for food along with a troop of mallard ducklings who are absolutely shameless with their cheeping.
The cabin is a single open concept camp with a queen firm bed, small sitting area that includes a comfy reclining couch, tv (bring your Netflix/Amazon login), dining table, gas fireplace for chilly days in September, screened porch with loveseat and table for two, plus an outside picnic table and firepit. Trees and flower gardens create a beautiful outdoor area to enjoy. There is a private dock (boats cannot be tied up here, but it's great for loading into canoes/kayaks, or jumping into the water). Additionally, Birch Point residents share a cove with a lovely swimming beach, dock, swim raft, and jetty. You can rent kayaks/canoes locally and put them in right here steps from the camp (you can even paddle back and forth to town). While this camp is not secluded in the woods, it is situated to provide privacy in the yard on the lake and on the porch. As an added bonus you can walk/ride bikes to the Dairy Bar for icecream after dinner cooked on the grill.
Little Moose is perfect for a single person or couple. Hikers, fishermen, birders, leaf-peepers, and paddlers will delight in the proximity to the trails and waterways of the area. Readers will never have to leave the camp - enjoy a great book surrounded by the lake and mountains. Anyone looking for a front row seat to the International Sea Plane Fly-In in September will be thrilled with this location. We typically due Saturday-Saturday rentals, but feel free to reach out if you need something different and we'll see if we can make it happen.

About the host
Hosted by Kerryane Monahan
Kerryane is a biology professor and Robson manufactures trailers in Florida. Having spent summers in Maine as a child, Kerryane requires an annual summer dose of the North Woods. Robson can't decide between the woods and the water, so he opted for a lot of each. Both of us are avid outdoors people and love the hiking, boating, birding, paddling, and fishing opportunities at Moosehead.
Why they chose this property
We dreamed about owning a home on Moosehead Lake since we first came here together in 2004. We stumbled upon this dilapidated camp and decided we loved the view so much we would attempt to restore the cabin. In 16 days working 14 hours/day during the pandemic, we gutted it down to the frame and then built it back up again (new roof, new insulation, new electric, new plumbing, new walls, new ceiling, new kitchen, new bath, etc), we even jacked it up and put in new support piers. It was a labor of love that nearly broke us (actually, there were a few injuries) but we are so glad we did! We love spending summer here, breathing in the clean air, enjoying nature, and being so close to the water. And now we can share it with a few other lucky folks!
What makes this property unique
Little Moose is close to town but still has that on the lake in the woods feel. There's so much to do here, ATVing, fishing, hiking, paddling, boating, birding, swimming, etc. Or just read a good book while soaking in the views.
