Salty Dog Beach House in Cape May's Historic District

This 1950’s beach cottage located on the edge of the historic district has been lovingly restored. The Salty Dog Beach House is centrally located near the corner of Jefferson and Columbia making it close to the beach, Washington Street Mall and all that Cape May has to offer. Park your car in the driveway and walk to restaurants, shopping, theaters, tours, and the Washington Street Mall. Parking can be difficult in Cape May and this house is unique as it has parking for two cars off street in the driveway.
In the evening, enjoy a fire pit in the backyard or the sounds of the horse drawn carriages pass by as you relax in the open concept kitchen/living room, while you send the kids to the basement to enjoy the home theatre. The cottage has three bedrooms upstairs and a pull out sofa on the lower level. There is a full bath upstairs and there is a half bath downstairs and an outside shower. Linens are INCLUDED at the Salty Dog, sheets, bath towels and beach towels with the turnover service. The Salty Dog offers a beach box for you to leave your beach items in at the end of your beach day. There are numerous beach chairs and a couple of beach umbrellas left for you to use during your stay (Available Memorial Day through Sept 17th). And finally, salty air comes natural with the Salty Dog Beach House. Come and visit!

We loved our weekend stay at this house. Beautifully furnished, great kitchen, lovely downstairs den. Roomy for our group of four. Great neighborhood and easy walking to the beach and to shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Incredible time on Easter Break!

Property was very nice and well kept with all the little things that make your stay feel like home! Our family of 4 loved our time there and would definitely rent again the next time we travel to Cape May, which is amazing with Easter events for kids!

Salty Dog is PHENOMENAL!!!

Everything about the property was well furnished with top-end products (furniture, beds, kitchen/eating utensils, bath towels, you name it). And, having on-site parking was extremely helpful. It's a relatively short walk to the beach and the mall. My wife and I couldn't have been more delighted with our stay at the Salty Dog!

Lovely Stay

This was a lovely property and we really enjoyed our stay. The home is close to the beach and downtown- a true cape may experience. Having a box on the beach with chairs, umbrellas, toys was amazing! The kitchen was lovely and well appointed with supplies. Host was very responsive.

Spring getaway!

We loved staying here! The house was everything our family of 4 needed. Our 5 year old loved the bunk beds, my wife was glad to have an extra room for kids clothes and our 11 week olds “things”. Rob was a great host and even found us an open arcade that made my daughter’s trip! We will be back.. if we there’s an open booking!

Excellent location and perfect for small family

Rob was a great host and the place was perfect for our family of four with 2 kids under 4. Easy 5 min walk to the beach, all restaurants, and Washington Street Mall. My wife was also able to take advantage of a relaxing massage at the spa next door. Kitchen had all of the essentials, plenty of clean towels and linens. Highly recommend.

Salty Dog Delivers on Shore Getaway

We stayed here with friends at the end of June. The location was ideal, with short walks to town and the beach. The backyard was great for relaxing at night. The outdoor shower was wonderful! Having the lockbox of supplies at the beach was so convenient and made the walk to the beach so much easier!

The Salty Dog Plays Very Nice

Our stay in this beauty was nothing short of amazing! Rob was extremely accommodating and communicative. Our stay was comfortable and the entire family thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect Family Rental!

The Salty Dog was perfect for our family! Its location is amazing and the house is wonderful. You can easily walk to both the beach and downtown Washington Street/Congress Hall. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. The backyard was a nice place to relax as was the downstairs entertainment room. Having chairs on the beach ready for us in a storage box was also very helpful. Rob was very responsive, polite, and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Christmas Getaway

We’ve been to Cape May many times before but this was our first at Christmas time. Just beautiful. House was super clean and the location was ideal. Host was very accommodating and even let us check in a little early which was greatly appreciated. Nice touches in the home that we liked including bathroom night lights, tissue boxes in every room and a full length mirror. Little things like this make a difference in a rental unit. Looking forward to staying here again.

Spotless, relaxing, spa-like house hideaway

Our plan was to enjoy time together, relax, and enjoy Cape May - walks to the beach, lunch at Congress Hall, browsing shops, visiting a winery. We wanted our "down time" to be shared, and so renting a house rather than hotel rooms was important. A perfect location, this was a beautiful home, well-managed and outfitted with all that is needed, including spa-quality shampoos and soaps, paper towels, and cleaning sprays. The linens were spotless, and the pillows, which are often problematic at rentals, were clean. The beds were a comfortable firmness. The kitchen had all the appliances you need to cook a big meal, or simply enjoy a Continental breakfast or wine and cheese over conversation. The tech was reliable, TV's easy to program (we used Roku). We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would stay there again.

Phenomenal stay

We rented this property for a long weekend and LOVED everything about it! The owner was easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any questions we had. Upon entering the space, you can see the amazing effort that went into creating such a beautiful home. It's a mix of minimal, modern, and cozy and VERY clean. We were a family of three, but you could definitely fit four or more people comfortably. There are two nice sized bedrooms upstairs and then a separate living space in the basement with pull-out couch that feels like it's own gorgeous apartment. You can't beat the proximity to beach and town. Do yourself a favor and don't hesitate to rent the Salty Dog!

perfect stay

everything was truly perfect. the house. the location. the (very) quick responses from rob. the entire town is easily walkable - you'll never need to get in the car unless you want to venture to west cape may (which can even be done by bike). we brought our 20 month old toddler and we all had the best time. if you have a little one who can't be near steps, it's perfect. we kept the door closed (he never even knew they existed) and once we put him to bed, we hung out downstairs so we never had to worry about making noise. having all beach equipment already on the beach was also a huge plus - especially when walking there with a toddler and an insane amount of toys. we will 100% stay here again and can't wait to do so!
