About this property

Ancienne Grange Rénovée à la Frontière Espagnole

If you want to feel like you are alone in the world without being isolated, our chalet will suit you perfectly. Indeed, it is nestled in a green setting (when there are leaves on the trees!!) while being at the entrance of the small village of Melles (it is a cute valley in the Pyrenees that ends in a cul de sac).
Every year the Tour de France passes over the surrounding passes.

The valley is the last French one since further south is the Val d'Aran (Spain at the level of Vielha).

By car you will only be 10 minutes from all amenities: many shops and restaurants (tapas and gastronomic) in Spain (we are only 2 minutes from the border), and everything you need in St Béat 9kms away (doctors, pharmacy, shops, tennis, swimming pool...).

Within walking distance you will have the very pleasant restaurant of Melles (2 bends up): "L'auberge du Crabère".

If you are motorised and the round trips don't scare you, you can even come to Melles while doing a spa cure in Luchon, so you can fully enjoy the mountains when you don't have treatments.

Without being at the foot of the slopes, many very diverse ski resorts are available to you: the family resort of Mourtis is 20 minutes away, the famous resorts of Luchon (Superbagnères) and Peyragudes are 35 minutes away and the very famous resort of Baqueira in Spain is 40 minutes away. In winter the access road to the village (700m) is very well cleared of snow because we are located just before it.

Finally, in summer you will enjoy hiking in the valley itself (crossed by the GR10) but also exploring the Luchonnais (Lac d'Ô, L'hospitalet,...) or the Val d'Aran on the Spanish side (the Incantats, Maladetta massif...).
For cycling enthusiasts, many of the Tour de France's most popular passes are located in the vicinity (Col de Menté, Col des Ars, Col du Portillon,...), and there is also plenty to do by mountain bike. Finally, white water sports (rafting, hydrospeed, canyoning, etc.) are very developed on the Garonne or other local gaves.

However, if you want to spend a more lazy holiday, the setting also lends itself to it with our belvedere terrace (dining table, barbecue and deckchairs) and our terrace on stilts (outdoor lounge, armchairs for coffee and dining area for two) with a breathtaking view of the mountain. In addition, to relax, after 1/2 hour by car you arrive in Luchon with its thermal baths.
You can also taste the local gastronomy since almost every day there is a market in the area.

It is not uncommon to have deer or hinds on the ground, so in autumn we often hear the bellow of the deer.....

We plan to clean up before you leave (leaving at least the accommodation as you would like to find it...) but if you don't feel like it, we can give you the contact details of a person who does the cleaning. Bed linen is not included in the rental and it is not possible to rent them.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.
