Remodeled lake house on Lake Michigan, near Kohler
Located just south of Sheboygan, right on Lake Michigan. Blue Dune cottage has 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs, 1 on main level) and 2 full bathrooms.
This home has been completely remodeled over the past 2 years. Hardwood floors throughout, Quartz counter tops in kitchens and baths, contemporary decor and furniture, fast internet, and best of all, gorgeous lake views and a welcoming deck, screened porch, and patio.
**Please note that due to high water levels, there is currently not a sandy beach area that can be accessed directly from the property. The water currently meets the rock barrier at a depth of ~1-2 feet. However, there are public beaches and access points nearby**
When you pull up to the home, you will notice the front of the house looks like the back - this is typical of the homes built on the lake during this time, the "front" faces the water!
Enter the home through the front door (up a few steps) on the right side of the house. The foyer leads right into a bright, white, modern kitchen with breakfast nook and exposed brick chimney. The kitchen flows into the living room, and then the dining room/sun room. Off the dining room are two sets of sliders to the deck, or a door to the screened-in porch, both of which have great views of the lake! One of the bedrooms and full bathrooms is also on the first floor.
Up the stairs to the second floor you will find a lofted landing area, 2 bedrooms (1 Queen, 1 Full), and another full bathroom. Both bedrooms on the second floor have a view of the lake and get great morning light.
The lower level is home to storage, washer/dryer, furnace, etc.
———Other key information——— Check in: You will self check-in and access keys to the front door via keypad. I will send the code the morning of check-in. Check-in time is 3:00 pm or afterwards, and departures are 11:00 am or before.
Lake Access: Please note that there is currently not a sandy beach in front of the house like there are most summers. From the property you cannot directly access a sandy beach. The lake hits the sea wall rocks at about 1 foot of depth. We strongly discourage accessing the water from the rocks or deck, which is extremely dangerous! There are public access points and beaches nearby (for example, the Kohler Andre park (~ 8 mins away) is gorgeous and has great beaches/hiking!)
Grill: The grill is operated on propane, which we provide for guests. There is an extra propane tank in the garage in case it runs out.
Garage: The garage has some personal and lawn care items in there, but you are free to use it to park a car or use the lawn games that are stored there (We have bags, bocce ball, spike ball, etc.). Please note that per our insurance policy any use of watercrafts or floatation devices in the garage cannot be used by guests. We can recommend local spots to rent kayaks, paddle boards, etc.
Fridge/Pantry: The fridge and pantry will have some staple items, including a water purification (Britta) in the fridge which you are welcome to use. The tap water is perfectly safe for drinking, but you may not prefer the taste of well water if you aren’t used to it.
Firepit: There is firewood and kindling stacked near the driveway that can be used for the firepit. Please be aware of winds/dry weather conditions and use discretion when lighting fires.
Washer/Dryer: Should you need to launder anything, there is a washer and dryer in the basement, with laundry detergent and dryer sheets in the cabinet.
Neighborhood/Neighbors: - The street leading up to the house is gravel! Please drive slowly and cautiously on the gravel-- there are often children bopping around between yards and the boat launch area - The boat launch / "boat club" area, including volleyball court, is restricted to member residents only and this is quite strict. - We have a mix of neighbors who reside here full time, are weekend visitors, and others who may also be renters. We please ask that you are considerate of neighbors by minimizing loud music playing outside and driving cautiously down the gravel road. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

The owners were very easy to communicate with and responded quickly. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. We will definitely be back.
Blue Dune is an exceptional house in a beautiful location. Well furnished, unfussy, and relaxing. Greta and Erik were responsive hosts to our questions and went out of their way to make our stay smooth and enjoyable. The sunroom / dining room was a wonderful place to enjoy the Lakeview and spread out a puzzle with our grandsons.
This house on the lake is beautifully decorated and well stocked. We had everything we needed to relax and admire the view.
Greta is a fantastic communicator and was highly responsive.
We were completely charmed by the property during our very relaxing stay.
Very clean, very comfortable, lots of little welcoming touches, well stocked kitchen and towels, and beyond stunning view.
My family and I spent four nights in this lovely cottage by the lake. The views of the lake from the deck were amazing and the sunrises were spectacular. It was a convenient location with Sheboygan about a 15 minute drive for groceries and a nice Farmer’s Market open on Wednesdays. The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We had a great stay. My only regret was we didn’t stay longer.
It was great. We went to sleep every night to the sound of the waves. The following are suggestions: add a microwave, install a grab bar in the shower and a permanent base to the shower floor to prevent slipping, instructions for the tv, handrail for steps to entrance door, replace the lockbox system with a keyless system at the entrance door only.
10/10! From the moment we arrived on the property we knew this was a gem! Beautiful landscaping and natural surroundings with sweeping views of Lake Michigan. Sleeping to the sounds of the waves crashing was a dream. The inside of the home was immaculate. The remodel is beautiful and also extremely comfortable/livable. Greta was such a gracious host and really considered her guests with all the amenities. Check in and out was a breeze. I could not imagine a better place to stay when visiting the Sheboygan area. Perfect.
The house was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen was fully stocked, allowing us to prepare meals together, and the living room and sunroom were cozy with plenty of seating for everyone to gather and chat.
The bedrooms were lovely, each with its own unique charm and comfortable beds. The bathrooms were spotless and stocked with high-quality toiletries, making us feel like we were in a boutique hotel.
One of the highlights of the rental was the outdoor space. The screened in patio had a lovely seating area where we spent our mornings sipping coffee and our evenings enjoying wine.
The location was ideal, situated in a quiet neighborhood but still close to shops, restaurants, and local attractions. We felt safe and could easily explore the area on foot or with a short drive.
Overall, this rental exceeded our expectations and provided the perfect backdrop for our girls' getaway. Greta was incredibly responsive and ensured we had everything we needed for an unforgettable trip. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a delightful and relaxing stay with friends.
Greta's Home on Lake Michigan did not disappoint as it was exactly what my Wife and I were hoping for to visit family in the area. Lake View is simply spectacular and the home had everything we needed for our stay. Greta is a wonderful host and answered all our questions promptly. If you are looking for a QUIET and comfortable home to relax in with a beautiful Lake view look no further!
We really enjoyed staying at Greta’s lake house. The lake is right out the back, with beautiful views. The pictures and listing are accurate and we appreciated the honesty about there not being a sandy beach this year. My daughter loved waking up early in the morning to read her book in the window seat in one of the upstairs bedrooms overlooking the lake, and we loved sitting in the screened in porch in the evenings. I especially loved sitting in the sunny dining area in the mornings, listening to the waves, drinking my coffee. This was a perfect place for my family of 4 to get away and relax for a few days. Koehler State park was just a few miles up the road for us to enjoy the beach, the location is just a short drive up to Sheboygan, and easy access to the interstate to make a trip down to Milwaukee.
