About this property
Private 7acre Lake View Home 45 mins to Jackson Hole
If you are looking for a private getaway to experience what Idaho and Wyoming are all about, this is absolutely it. Not much will beat the view and comfort of our home. An Osprey nest is visible from the front yard and bald eagles, golden eagles. fox, moose, and deer make regular appearances. Cozy up in front of the fire, look for wildlife, or watch your favorite shows on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. We have lots of board games and books for those that are looking for a relaxing trip, or a guidebook with recommendations for lots of activities in the area!
Our cabin is a great home base for exploring Yellowstone and GTNP, the Bridger Teton National Forest etc.. Short term rentals under 30 days are not allowed in Jackson, so many travelers opt for staying near Alpine. Jackson is a 45 minute drive through the beautiful Snake River Canyon.
There is a beautiful, natural spring that delivers fresh, clean mountain spring water to the house. Children cannot be left unattended near the spring as it is a few feet deep.
Hiking trails and dirt bike/mountain bike trails are available nearby, blowout is 1 mile, Indian creek is 2 miles, big elk and little elk are a few miles further. You can fish across the road, or bring your paddle board. The boat ramp access is 1 mile away. White water rafting, fly fishing, and horseback riding are popular activities nearby as well. Snowmobile, wake-surfing and pontoon boat rentals are available in Alpine, 10 miles away. There is ample parking on the property for trailers, or park across the street in the pullover. Please do have a 4x4 vehicle in winter though.
This is an old ( built in 1961) and unique cabin, and one of the bedrooms is between the other two bedrooms/does not have a private entrance. It has a queen size bed, but it is something to consider if anyone in your party is uncomfortable with it. There is also a futon available in its own space but not considered a “bedroom”
You will have 7+ acres to explore, all with beautiful lake views.
January- Temps can range from -20 to 35. Most commonly in the 20s. LOTS of snow for snowy activities
February-Temps usually start warming up and we don't see negatives anymore. Lots of snow still
March-Spring skiing! We can start seeing temps in the 40s occasionally but all snowy activities are still going strong.
April-The ski hill closes the 2nd week of April. Temps can reach 60 but still drop to 20s. Most restaurants close for off-season and it's hard to find places to eat. Grand Teton Park opens the roads for biking and non-motorized travel which is really fun and locals really look forward to
May-Usually my favorite month of the year. We usually don't see freezing temps anymore and temps can get into the 70's. All of the blossoms come out and it's so green! Everything opens but is still mostly quiet
June- Starts getting busy in town, most hiking trails will be open although I've found fairly deep snow into the 4th of July on high trails before. Gorgeous weather
July-Great weather! Busiest time of year
August-same as July but wildfire season starts to heat up and possibility of smoke lowering visibility
September-Fall colors start to come out, nights start getting cooler. Town starts getting quieter. It's beautiful here in Sept! Fall Arts Festival in Jackson is really fun at the beginning of the month
October- Can be similar to September, but with random snow storms. No snow sticking at ground level yet usually. All the leaves drop off the trees
November-Off season until the ski hills open. Very quiet
December-Winter sports pick up again! Snow starts sticking on the ground floor. Temps usually in the 20s-30s

The house has 3 heat sources to ensure you're always warm: propane forced air throughout the house, a wood fireplace, and a pellet stove. We provide wood for the fireplace. We don't usually stock pellets for the pellet stove, but they can be purchased at the grocery or hardware store for around $5/bag if that is your preferred heat source.

About the host
Hosted by Jamie Feik

My husband and I purchased this sweet cabin to remodel in 2016. We lived here for 5 years while spending most days sprucing the place up. We've recently had two young children and had to move across the Wyoming border to get them into the WY school district, but want to share this beautiful space with visitors. We love spending our time with our toddler and newborn, but are also passionate about hiking, snowmobiling, hunting, boating, fishing, and traveling. Please don't hesitate to ask us anything, we LOVE sharing what we know about the area.
