The house is great, so clean and well-equipped
and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Kim delivered delicious crabs right to the dinner table!
We enjoyed riding the bikes around the island. Smith Island Bakery is only a few doors down!
Kim and Mickey made us feel very welcomed and the waterfront home was immaculate with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful flowers!
We had a wonderful visit!
Thanks again.

The Jazzy 6 loved the accommo- dations and the kitchen was great. Stocked with seasonings, coffee and tea. Marykim was a wonderful hostess. She had our golf cart delivered to Idol Hour and our Smith Island Strawberry cake was in the refrigerator waiting for us. We loved Idol Hour and would stay again. Thank you Marykim for everything! The Jazzy 6

Took my grandson for a weekend trip to Smith Island to celebrate his HS graduation. My daughter, also, accompanied us, since I am a 90 year old "Grammy", and need some assistance. Our cottage was clean, comfortable and had all of our needs. The host, Kim, was extremely attentive, and made our dinner the night we arrived so we could just relax. I would highly recommend Idle Hour as the place to stay on Smith Island.

We just finished a 2 day stay at the Idle Hour and wished we had more time. Our Smith Island stay would not have been the same without Marykim. She helped us with our bags, gave us amazing advice and was a terrific cook and hostess. Would not hesitate to book again.

Our experience with Jacob, Amy & Cole has been wonderful. The communication was great and the place was neat and tidy upon their departure. I’d happily host hem again in the future!
Lovely home hosted by a very gracious couple. The hostess is an excellent cook meals requested we’re delicious. It is a big plus that she offers evening meals at a reasonable price. Very little available on island out of season. Having a kayak and bikes at our disposal was huge! Would stay here again and hope to do just that!

It was absolute delight hosting you both. Please come again
The Idle Hour is a wonderful beach house to stay. The property managers have done an incredible job with every detail and it is just Incredibly clean. We loved riding bikes around the property, eating local fare and exploring the extensive water trail system by kayak. What a great place to unplug and enjoy quiet island life! Thank you!

Such a pleasure to meet Carrie, Tucker & Tim. They were friendly and easy to talk to. We would be happy to host them again
The property was amazing and any minor issue we had. They were right there to fix it. The island was welcoming, as well as just the right amount of quiet and slow down that we were looking for. I recommend anybody needing to detach disconnect to enjoy property for a couple of days or even longer. The hospitality was amazing. We will be back.

House was as defined but the host was very protective of her property. Also felt she was expecting us to follow her suggestions for transportation. Also, in description of property it should mention that shoes are not allowed in the house.
Ewell is such a small town that everything is within a couple hundred feet of Idle Hour. It's a great town to walk around -- though the residents seem to travel everywhere by golf cart. All of the handful of businesses in Ewell close early (usual 4pm) and some aren't open Monday or Tuesday. So it's good to plan your day around that. We did not take advantage of MaryKim's offer to cater our meals. Perhaps we will next time. Idle Hours kitchen is large and well appointed -- we enjoyed cocking some family meals there. The "mail boat" (the "Island Belle II") that brought us to and from Smith Island had no problems with us bringing a couple bags of groceries with us. The house was fairly large and well furnished. our two adult children each had their own bed room. MaryKim was happy to have us use her kayaks and share her private dock. It was a great three day vacation. We hope to return.
Kim & Mickey are great people and excellent hosts! Kim picked me up at the dock and took me to the house. The house was clean when I arrived. I enjoyed the fresh air and the island scenery as well as the Smith Island bakery. I must mention that Kim did all my cooking as the restaurant was closed for the season. Her meals are to die for-don’t know how the restaurant stays open competing against her! I would definitely recommend staying at the Idle Hour and hope to return soon!
From the moment We booked the cottage until we left, Kim and Mikey anticipated our every need to explore the community and make our memorable stay comfortable. Kim prepared 5 star meals delivered to our door on our timeline . We felt like royalty with our own personal chef tailoring the menu to accommodate my dietary needs. This is the place to stay for the Smith Island Experience. We plan to come back in the fall for the oysters. Truly a magical place .
The house was neat, clean and had all we needed for the week.
The hosts are exceptional people, that make sure your stay is as comfortable as could possibly be, along with being knowledgeable about the island and surrounding waters.
We had a great week here and plan to return again in the fall!
Kim and Mickey were lovely hosts and their property adorable and well appointed. Enjoyed happy hour on their dock and biking around the island. I highly recommend BYOBBB, bring your own, booze, books, and bug spray! Highly Recommend staying at the Idle Hour!
Kim and Mickey made our families stay on Smith Island absolutely wonderful. They responded to any questions immediately and the house was absolutely perfect! The photos don’t do it justice- and the outdoor shower was our favorite! kim and Mickey really make you feel like family and everyone on the island is super welcoming and helpful. We really loved our trip and will most definitely be coming back to stay!!! Thank you so much for a memorable and beautiful vacation.
