If I had to describe this house in one word, it would be cozy. Every room in this house is warm and comfortable. You can tell a lot of care and consideration was put into making everyone feel at home here. Shawn was extremely pleasant and easy to communicate with. After my family’s stay, we’re looking forward to visiting this house in the summer, so that we can take advantage of yard and lake.

Crystal and family were great guests in every possible way and are welcome back anytime. Thank you for being amazing guests.
In general I can say that the property is very spacious, and clean inside. The deck has a nice view of the lake. Firepit is also a place by which you can relax although it is a little to close to neighbors property. Owner has a pontoon boat that is located by the property, that they are able to rent out which is a plus if youre into that kind of thing. The only thing I wasn’t fond off was everpresent geese poo around the property. Because of that, we couldn’t play volleyball or badmington which we were hoping to do. We were able to finally do some of that but we had to clean up the driveway as it was really the only feasable place to do so. If the owner were to take care of that, the property would be one of the best Ive ever been to as the stay would’ve been perfect.

Tomasz, was a great guest and is welcome back anytime.
We had a lovely stay here , the property and house is beautiful and well maintained . Plenty of room for a large group and our host was very accommodating. We loved the view and cozy fireplaces . Would definitely recommend.
Overall a good stay. Spacious with a nice large kitchen. Unfortunately the fish weren’t biting for my kids to enjoy that part of the stay. Due to some painting prior to our arrival the living room tv wasn’t up and running and the basement fireplace was operational. A very nice property with many amenities to enjoy. My family enjoyed our brief three night stay. Shawn was a good host.

About the host
Hosted by Shawn Dougherty
Greetings! I'm Ms. Shawn, and I'll be your virtual host during your time at the Dougherty Family Lake House. Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this home holds a special place in my heart. After my mother's passing, I moved my father to what he'd always envisioned as his dream residence in 2012. It was here that we celebrated countless summers: indulging in pig roasts, fishing adventures, and explorations of the charming South Haven, all the while cherishing the company of loved ones.
While I now split my time between Michigan and California, the essence of the house remains unchanged. After the passing of my father, I felt inspired to share the magic of our home with others. Thus, we've opened its doors as a short-term rental, hoping to offer families and friends a spacious and enchanting setting where they can weave their own tapestry of memories, just as we did.
Why they chose this property
This property holds a deep sentimental value for my family and has served as a cherished gathering spot for friends and family since 2010. My father poured his heart into this home, undertaking numerous renovations. Notably, he crafted the cabana bar alongside the canal and fashioned the all-season porch adjoining the master bedroom. The result is a dwelling that doesn't just offer shelter but serenades with its breathtaking views and intricate details.
Since transitioning it into a short-term rental, I've been honored with the title of a super host, a testament to the property's allure and the affection it evokes in those who visit. Over time, numerous families have vocalized the same fondness and admiration for this place that we, as a family, have cherished for years.
We warmly open our doors to you, extending an invitation to immerse yourself in the magic of this home. All we ask in return is that you treat it with the love and reverence it warrants. Please maintain the tranquility of the surroundings by keeping noise levels down post 10pm and bestow the same respect and kindness on our wonderful neighbors that you would on the property.
