Next to the bedroom, the bathroom is complete with shower and toilet, and kitchen with electric oven and hob. Altenau was founded in 1584 as a free mining town and is located in 500 meters above sea level surrounded by meadows and pine forests. Today Altenau is a health resort with about 2000 inhabitants and 4000 guest beds. The city offers its guests a new Kurgastzentrum, forest pool, bowling, tennis, hiking trails, Europe's largest herbal park, ski slopes, ski lift, cross-country skiing, toboggan runs and Kristalltherme Hot chunks. The Altenauer hospitality serves rustic local dishes of the former miners and lumberjacks as well as international cuisine.
