New Year's family vacation

This is an older home on the river in Tampa. The location is great for visiting Tampa attractions and enjoying the river. The two story building on the property does not live up to the photos posted on the website.

Fraternity Reunion

This location was ideal for the event we were attending. Not far from airport, downtown and entertainment. They lay out and the room that the property offered was ideal . We enjoyed our stay and communication with property management was great! I have nothing but good things to say.

A Challenging Experience: Renter Beware

Our recent stay at this property fell short of expectations. Despite a smooth rental process and inquiries, the actual condition did not match the provided images. Upon arrival, we noticed a musty smell and excessive warmth in the living room, attributed to the sunroom. Each space had a musty smell and damp atmosphere. We found several baking soda boxes to help eliminate odor. Cleaning felt as though it may have been rushed towels were folded on the beds but damp as were several rugs that left socks wet and soiled. Vents displayed dust accumulation, and showers had human hair. The upstairs apartment floors were inadequately cleaned, prompting our children to rewash their feet after bath time. Safety concerns included zip-tied stair treads, an electrical cord behind the oven, and an unsecured staircase to the apartment. Both decks posed safety hazards. The handrail on the rear deck was inadequately secured to vinyl siding, and the front deck had incorrectly patched areas, leading to an accident. The Murphy bed for the kids was insecurely attached, posing safety risks. Furnishings in the house were stained, and deck furniture was mildewed or missing. After the deck incident, we contacted VRBO, which promptly arranged an emergency hotel stay. We await refund details. Regrettably, we advise against renting this property and recommend a reevaluation for its inclusion on VRBO.

The perfect retreat

This property was wonderful- we almost didn’t want to leave to explore Tampa each day. Having coffee in the living room gazing at the river was such a great way to start the day- and ending each day by the fire pit was equally enjoyable. The house was furnished what everything that we needed and was impeccablely clean. Hoping to come back next year!

Pictures and description were deceptive

We were terribly disappointed with the house. Upon arrival here is what we found; these are the most concerning issues, but there were many other problems. The neighborhood was worry sum. Entering the house there was a pungent smell, we were unaware of its origin. The house was obviously very old but the decor was adorable. In the master bedroom, the french doors were rotted and partially open. We were worried about them breaking, trying to re-lock them. This was the same for the back french doors. We were concerned about our safety and concerned about our belongings being in the house if we were to leave. The steps coming out the back of the house were simply stacked blocks. I had fallen on the steps because they are wobbly and unsecured. This was a concern as the land was only a few feet wide behind the house, then there is a steep embankment to the river. The back of the house had no lighting and broken light fixtures throughout. The grounds were covered in weeds and the decking was in bad disrepair. The fresh water pond looked like a drainage basin and was unusable for anything. I texted the owner about the doors immediately upon arrival. They suggested that there were never any issues. They wanted us to take their word but there were no other reviews or any indication that anyone else had stayed at the house. Two and a half hours into our stay, we made a collective decision that the house was unsafe and uncomfortable. The house was definitely not living up to our expectations as described online. I texted the owner to let them know we were leaving. I asked for at least some of my money back. I was completely ignored and contacted VRBO office to see if the owner would refund at least the cleaning fee. They called the owner and the owner refused any refund. Such a disappointment.

Why they chose this property

This property is truly a gem, and unique in the area. To have a double waterfront-with an artesian spring fed pond on one side, and the Hillsborough River on the other side-truly makes you feel encapsulated in nature.

What makes this property unique

The area is steeped in local history, with local parks such as Purity Springs Park, with its` crystal clear water flowing into the Hillsborough River, reminding visitors of the cool, aquifers that made this area of Tampa so desirable prior to the advent of air conditioning. Enjoy notable restaurants from up and coming places such as C House and The Hall on Franklin or Bodega to more established ones such as Fodder & Shine, Rooster and the Till, and Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe. Peruse vinyl records at Microgroove, or get lost in a book while sipping locally brewed coffee or tea at Oxford Exchange or Blind Tiger Coffee. Don`t forget to rent a bike at Velo Champ Cycle Sports or City Bike Tampa and explore Bayshore-the longest continual sidewalk in the world that wraps around Tampa`s picturesque bay, ending in Ballast Point park, where you can rent fishing equipment and fish from the pier, or buy a loaf of fresh Cuban bread from the Faedo`s bakery just down the road on Florida Avenue.
This is my favorite part of Tampa- central to everything Tampa has to offer, where the locals want to live...
