About this property

Watch Cargo Ships Glide by from This Walkable Savannah River Retreat

Welcome to Your Savannah Riverfront Retreat

Imagine starting the morning with a cup of espresso while the city slowly wakes up, watching massive cargo ships quietly glide along the Savannah River. Spend the afternoon strolling historic streets, exploring shops and restaurants just steps away, and end the evening gathered around the fire table on the private deck under the warm glow of Savannah’s coastal sky.

Welcome to our home in Upper East River, the private residential enclave of the vibrant Eastern Wharf riverfront community.

We fell in love with this location because it offers everything we look for in a vacation. Guests are steps away from riverfront walking paths, dining, recreation, and waterfront views, yet tucked into a peaceful neighborhood that feels removed from the crowds of downtown. And when the beach calls, Tybee Island is just an easy drive away, making it possible to enjoy both Savannah’s historic charm and coastal beauty during the same stay.

One of the most memorable experiences here is watching the enormous cargo ships slowly pass along the Savannah River. Whether you're enjoying a meal in the dining room or relaxing upstairs, it's a uniquely Savannah moment that guests never seem to tire of.

Designed for Gathering

The home blends classic Savannah inspiration with modern comfort. While the exterior reflects the historic architectural style the city is known for, the interior is bright, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for relaxing and gathering with friends and family.

The main living level serves as the social heart of the home. The comfortable living room features a plush down-filled sofa, flexible seating, cozy blankets, books by local authors, and a selection of board games for guests of all ages. Large doors lead toward the private deck, creating a natural flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The kitchen is fully equipped for everything from quick breakfasts to full dinners at home. Morning coffee becomes a ritual with the Terra Kaffe espresso machine, while evenings may find guests gathering around charcuterie boards, mixing cocktails from the bar cart, or enjoying a relaxed meal together.

The dining area offers one of the home’s most special moments—enjoying dinner while watching ships pass along the river.

Private Outdoor Space

Step outside onto the private deck, where Savannah’s coastal air and relaxed pace set the tone for the evening.

The outdoor dining table features a built-in fire element that creates a warm and inviting atmosphere at night. With a grill, large shade umbrella, and privacy panels between neighboring decks, the space is perfect for gathering with friends, enjoying dinner outdoors, or simply relaxing with a glass of wine after a day exploring the city.

Comfortable and Private Bedrooms

The home features three thoughtfully designed bedrooms, each offering comfort and privacy.

The primary suite includes a king-sized bed with upscale bedding, a quiet workspace, a comfortable reading chair with ottoman, and locally sourced artwork. The en suite bathroom features a spacious walk-in shower and a double vanity that makes getting ready easy for couples.

The upstairs guest bedroom features a queen bed and peaceful views of the Savannah River. Its attached bathroom playfully pays homage to Savannah’s iconic Olde Pink House with its distinctive pink design.

The entry-level guest bedroom offers the most privacy in the home as the only bedroom on that floor. This room includes a queen bed and décor inspired by Savannah’s beloved Six Pence Pub.

Thoughtful Touches Throughout the Home

We’ve tried to design the home the way we would want a vacation home to feel—comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully detailed.

You’ll find quality furnishings and décor from well-regarded brands such as Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Frontgate, paired with locally sourced Savannah artwork and décor that reflect the character of the city.

We also like to call our approach the “Pack Light Promise.” We try to think of all the little things that make travel easier so you don’t have to pack them. From kitchen essentials and coffee to toiletries, laundry supplies, beach items, outdoor games, and thoughtful touches throughout the home, the goal is to make it easy for guests to arrive, settle in, and simply enjoy their stay.

Additional conveniences include:

• Fully stocked bathrooms with toiletries and essentials
• Laundry area with washer, dryer, and supplies
• Garage and driveway parking
• Level 2 EV charger available in the garage

A Perfect Day Staying Here

Start the morning slowly with coffee from the espresso machine while watching the river and the occasional cargo ship pass by.

Take a walk along the nearby Riverwalk and explore the shops, galleries, and restaurants that make Savannah so special. Spend the afternoon wandering through historic squares or take a short drive to Tybee Island for a relaxing beach day.

When you return, gather in the kitchen to prepare dinner, mix cocktails from the bar cart, or build a charcuterie board to share. As evening settles in, step outside onto the private deck where the fire table creates a warm glow—perfect for conversation, laughter, and relaxing after a day exploring the city.

Why Guests Love This Location

About the host

Host profile image
My husband and I have always loved hosting friends and family in our home, so becoming vacation rental hosts felt like a natural extension of something we already enjoyed. Opening our home to guests has simply allowed us to expand that passion a little beyond our own living room.
We first fell in love with Savannah because it offers the perfect mix of history, incredible food, walkable charm, and coastal beauty. You can spend the day wandering historic streets, exploring local shops, enjoying amazing restaurants, and then end the evening watching the river and the ships pass by.
In fact, before buying this property we were actually talking about putting a pool in our backyard… and then we realized we could just have an entire river in the front yard instead. Seemed like the better option.
We visit the home often and genuinely enjoy keeping it in great shape for our guests. I also love using our visits as an excuse to refresh the décor and add new touches throughout the house so it always feels welcoming and well cared for.
At home we’re big animal lovers with two 100+ pound golden retrievers and a tiny four-pound Yorkie who somehow runs the entire household. While we adore them, we keep this home pet-free so guests with allergies can fully enjoy their stay—and so we occasionally get the rare opportunity to sleep in when we visit!
We intentionally manage the home ourselves rather than using a management company because we genuinely enjoy the one-on-one interaction with our guests and want to make sure every stay is as comfortable and memorable as possible.
Our goal is to create a space where guests can relax, unwind, and enjoy Savannah the same way we do. We take great pride in the home and truly appreciate guests who treat it with the same care and respect.
Now that you’ve heard a little about us, we’d love to hear about you and what brings you to Savannah.

Why they chose this property

Before purchasing this home, we looked at hundreds of properties across several markets, with a particular focus on Savannah, Charleston, and coastal beach areas. (There is also a Maui wish list floating around somewhere, but that’s quite a commute!)
When I first received the alert that this property was available, I was immediately drawn to the fact that it was brand new yet located directly on the Savannah Riverfront and still convenient to the historic district. That combination is surprisingly rare.
Once we visited in person and realized how easy the drive was to Tybee Island, we knew this location truly offered the best of all worlds. We love the beach, but not overly commercialized beach towns, and we tend to get a little restless after a few days of nothing but sand and sun. Here, we can spend the day at the beach and still return to enjoy Savannah’s incredible dining, shopping, and entertainment.
Another thing that makes this neighborhood special is that it is part of Eastern Wharf, one of Savannah’s newest riverfront developments. Upper East River is the private residential portion of the community, which means it feels peaceful and residential while still being connected to an exciting mixed-use district.
And here’s a fun bit of Savannah history: this is the first neighborhood to be built on the Savannah riverfront in more than 200 years.
The neighborhood sits directly along the Riverwalk, which leads toward Savannah’s iconic River Street, and it’s also steps from the Thompson Hotel, which offers several excellent dining and cocktail venues.
As the neighborhood continues to grow, additional restaurants, retail, and amenities are planned just a short walk away.
For us, this location perfectly captures what we love most about Savannah: beautiful riverfront scenery, walkable experiences, great food, and easy access to the beach.

What makes this property unique

What truly sets our home apart is the level of thought and care that has gone into every detail. This is our second home, so we’ve designed and stocked it the way we would want to experience a home while traveling ourselves.
Rather than furnishing it quickly as a typical short-term rental, we intentionally selected high-quality furnishings and décor from brands like Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Frontgate, paired with locally sourced artwork and touches that reflect Savannah’s charm. Our goal was to create a space that feels elevated yet comfortable—somewhere guests can truly relax and feel at home.
One of our favorite features—and something guests often mention—is the chance to watch the massive cargo ships quietly glide along the Savannah River. It’s a uniquely Savannah experience that never seems to get old.
We also focus on the small details that make travel easier. We call it our “Pack Light Promise.” The home is thoughtfully stocked with many everyday essentials so guests don’t have to worry about purchasing items they’ll only use once during their stay.
Guests also enjoy features like the Terra Kaffe espresso machine for café-style coffee, the private outdoor deck with a fire table for relaxing evenings, and convenient amenities like a Level 2 EV charger.
Because this is our second home and we personally manage it ourselves, we stay closely involved and are always looking for small ways to improve the space and add thoughtful touches. Our hope is that guests feel the same sense of comfort and enjoyment here that we do every time we visit.
