The cabin was just as advertised, very homey and comfortable. The weather was brisk but the heating system worked well; the fireplace also made the cabin quite cozy. We enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. We noticed, but didn't use, the herbs and spices in the cabinets, which would have been handy had we not brought everything we needed. Our tall twenty-somethings bunked downstairs and used the futon since they thought the bunk beds were too confining, but they appreciated the privacy of having their own space with a bathroom. The master bed and bath were perfect for my husband and me. The view was incredible and we took advantage of the hiking trails on the nearby Parkway, despite the clouds and fog on Friday. The access road is quite steep and, as we had sleet and freezing rain the last night, we were glad to have our four-wheel-drive truck to get out the next morning. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at Lewdog Lodge!
