We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean. The only issue was we needed one more bathroom with all the beds downstairs and only one bathroom.

The cabin is beautiful. The owners were great to work with and very accommodating. Sitting on the porch was very relaxing . Seeing all the deer was so cool, but you needed to be very careful driving with all of them!
Great cabin, and very convenient location. Very responsive host. The folk school is right at the base of the mountain, less than 10 min drive. Lots of hiking close by, and several bars and breweries with live music within easy driving distance. Very cool area.

The property and setting are beautiful. Rustic charm but with a contemporary, open floor plan. We had grandparents and young adults, and it was ideal. Close enough to town but also felt secluded, in a good way!

The house is beautiful. Plenty to do in the area. Interiors were clean, well maintained. Peaceful. Kitchen well equipped to cook and serve. Kids loved the basement level to rest and watch TV in the evenings. Overall a great place to stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Hi Amanda,
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and really appreciate you taking the time to review us!
We had an incredible stay at the “Almost Heaven” cabin in Murphy, North Carolina. From the moment we arrived, what stood out most was how peaceful and secluded the property felt while still being just a short drive from town. The cabin was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had that authentic mountain-cabin charm without sacrificing modern comforts. The views were absolutely stunning — whether we were enjoying coffee on the porch in the morning or unwinding in the evening, the scenery really made the experience special. The interior was cozy and thoughtfully decorated, and the owners clearly put a lot of care into making sure guests feel at home. The kitchen was well-stocked, the beds were comfortable, and every detail felt intentional.Another highlight was the quiet, relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking to disconnect, recharge, and enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains, this place hits the mark. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would absolutely recommend “Almost Heaven” to anyone visiting the Murphy area. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

The property was perfect for our needs. It was four Adults and two dogs. We each had a bedroom and plenty of space for crafts, games, and cooking. The location of the property is great, a short distance to town/restaurants.The Host was attentive, checking in with us to ensure we had everything we needed, including assisting us use the fireplace and turning the heat on before our arrival (it was 19 degrees when we arrived outside). We look forward to booking again. Thank you!!!
My husband and I drove down from Canada to meet with a friend; well worth the drive!
Our mornings were spent with coffee on the wrap-around porch, afternoons exploring the quaint downtown area or hiking at a nearby trail, and evenings sitting around the fire with a glass of wine.
The cabin is immaculate with a well stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms with amazing views. We’re already planning our next visit in the summer to return with our teenaged children.

Deb,
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and REALLY appreciate the glowing review! Please do come back!
Pros: Nice space to watch TV, play games and eat dinner together as a family. Furniture was comfortable. Open space in the loft was great for stretching and meditation. Wi-Fi and grille worked well. Owner was very responsive.
Cons: Freezer in refrigerator leaked water. Basement beds were average for comfort.
The cabin was just as shown in pictures and was so very clean and nice. The owner communicated and checked in to see if everything was good and followed up after the trip. Amazing views of the mountains and we were amazed by the deer we saw each day. Family long weekend trip with elderly parents, young adult children and a teen (plus our 5 lb Shih-Poo granddog, Louis)! We cooked & the kitchen had plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc for our group. We played games and did a puzzle! Wonderful place to relax!! Drove over to Blue Ridge to shop a little one afternoon (40 minutes) and one evening drove the 4 miles into Murphy for ice cream (Mimo’s)! Great trip!!
We will definitely be back!
As advertised. Plenty of space for the 7 of us (ages 12 to 50). Kitchen well equipped for basic eating/cooking needs. Washer/dryer was nice to have. Comfy beds. Arrived to trash and dirty grill on the deck but was sure to leave it cleaned when we left as required. Younger ones enjoyed the lower level PacMan arcade game. I thought that space was well laid out but felt cold and dingy. A couple pieces of the back deck furniture could stand to be replaced. Saw lots of deer in backyard and throughout the neighborhood. The kids enjoyed going down to the public access pavilion on the property and swimming in the river. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciate places that accept pets. Our boxer enjoyed being able to come with us.
After purchasing our first cabin (VRBO 76071) in 2004 and having great success, we decided to purchase a second property (VRBO 2007226). With both these cabins showing great success with our wonderful guests, we decided to purchase number 3.
