This was a second stay here for three friends wanting to bike, hike and just have time together. There’s no check-in here. You just open the key box and walk in. We so enjoyed this quiet place away from traffic but minutes from the New River Trail and downtown Galax. We enjoyed having a bedroom for each of us instead of being crowded in a motel room as we used to be. We claimed our previous bedrooms! We had everything we needed in this sweet super clean home with the owner just a large yard away if we needed anything. Being able to sit on the patio and listen to the creek with your first cup of coffee is special. This is a place where you’ll want to stay any time you’re in the area. It feels like home.
Stayed for two nights. The house is set up well for rentals, everything we needed. It's modest but clean and as advertised, and if you get a chance to meet them, the hosts are very friendly and helpful! We'll be back.
Nice, clean home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck in the mornings just listening to the sounds of the creek. The home had everything we needed and then some. ssomesome.Iesp
So cozy!! Nestled right in the mountains with beautiful views right out the front window. A gorgeous deck and covered porch, perfect for sipping coffee in the morning. The homeowners were amazing, friendly, attentive and responsive.
We are a military family visiting our family in town and staying here made the whole visit so much more pleasant.
Well kept home that has everything you need. Centrally located to Mount Airy & Blue Ridge parkway. Nice covered porch & deck that overlooks the vast yard with the sound of the creek running along the property. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
My better half booked this property for us while we searched the area to buy property. It’s an older home - as represented, and fit the last minute need. Was clean, easy to find and the owner actually contacted us during the stay to make sure all was good and if we needed anything.
That was a nice touch.
Thanks for hosting us.
We visited “Gully Creek Retreat” because of the Fall leaf change on the Parkway. It was a perfect location. Just minutes from all needed stores and the Blue Ridge! Gully Creek runs right through the back yard. The setting is stunning and the property quaint, well appointed, and comfortable. The hosts were available, friendly, and responsive. We had a lovely time at Gully Creek and you will too!
Peaceful Mountain Getaway – A Perfect Memorial Weekend Retreat
We had a fantastic stay over Memorial Day weekend at this peaceful country home, surrounded by family, friends, and nature. The location is absolutely serene—nestled near a gentle stream, with sweeping views of lush greenery and the distant mountains. It's tucked away just enough to feel secluded and private, yet close to beautiful destinations like Stone Mountain State Park, the Virginia border, and Grayson Highlands. The house itself, though with a bit of age, is incredibly well maintained and full of charm. We were impressed with how clean, cozy, and well-appointed everything was. From the fully stocked kitchen to small thoughtful touches like USB charging ports in the bedrooms and packs of facial tissues on the nightstands—every detail made our stay more comfortable. The home had everything we needed. The large property gave our kids plenty of space to run and explore, and we all enjoyed the fire pit and barbecue on the porch. Evenings were quiet and peaceful, with no traffic noise—just the sound of the nearby stream and the rustling of leaves. It truly felt like a restful escape from the hustle of daily life.Thank you for creating such a welcoming and relaxing space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would gladly return for another visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in nature and spend quality time with loved ones.
This was the perfect place to recharge our batteries on our long treck back home from Florida! We had everything we needed just one confused moment finding the lock box! LOL!
Three adult ladies of a certain age enjoy short trips together. Over time we’ve discovered one motel room doesn’t fit our needs. Finding an affordable 3 bedroom house in a sweet setting was perfect. We’ve been doing condos for a bit. This house with its wonderful outdoor space for enjoying the sounds of the creek made enjoying breakfast on the patio a wonderful way to start the day. The house had everything we needed. We were very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as Galax where we were going to ride the New River Trail. The hosts were wonderful. We got to meet them but only needed to ask them about one small thing. We will definitely return as the New River Trail is our favorite trail to ride.
This was our second time at Gulley Creek, and once again we really enjoyed our visit. Our hosts are so friendly and helpful. The home is very clean and stocked with everything we need, and they even supply some little snacks! Perfect place to stay that is real close to the Blue Ridge parkway and Galax VA. We enjoy sitting out on the deck and watching the birds and listening to the creek out back. It is just such a peaceful stay. We're already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!
Beautiful quiet country home! Easy to find and perfectly located between Mt Airy, Galax, and Sparta. Creek at the back of property is peaceful to sit by. Dogs loved the large yard.
Was looking to get to a slower pace, quiet, and room for our dogs to be able to run and play. This place checked all those boxes. Clean and organized and updated with all the comforts of home. Close enough to places to visit or enjoy the outdoors and mountain scenery, but not so close as to get the noise and rush that is in the cities. Really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time.
