About this property

Fantastic town villa at Lions Head with views - pool, jacuzzi and garden

Tamboerskloof Views is a spacious villa in the heart of Cape Town, within walking distance of lively Kloof Street with its restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. The modern villa offers unparalleled views of the city’s “Big Five”: Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Signal Hill, Devil’s Peak, and the city and harbour. You’re right in the middle of it all, yet you’re staying on a quiet side street.

The original house is a classic 1930s heritage home. The extensive renovation and addition have preserved the original architecture and character of the house and its era, tastefully combining them with every conceivable modern comfort and luxury.

Tamboerskloof Views offers a variety of living areas on the ground floor that open northward onto an elevated terrace with a breathtaking view of the city, the harbour, and the surrounding mountain ranges. The gas fire pit, surrounded by benches, makes you feel as if you’re sitting by a typical African safari campfire. On cooler evenings, however, your favourite spot might just be the hot tub, where you can enjoy the view of the city lights with a glass of champagne while soaking in water at 36 degrees.

At the back, the path leads through the open kitchen to the sheltered, covered terrace and into the small, almost tropical-looking garden. Here you’ll find everything you could want on holiday: a saltwater pool, a large gas grill, and plenty of spots to lie or sit, either in the sun or in the shade under the palm trees.

An interior staircase leads to the three bedrooms. All three feature their own en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom offers its own unique view. But the indescribable view of the city from the master suite is certainly worth highlighting. It’s quite possible you won’t get a wink of sleep at night if the shutters aren’t closed. With Tamboerskloof Primary School across the street, the view of the city will always remain unobstructed. And on school days, you can often hear the lively sounds of children playing. That’s city life for you.

We are unaffected by the occasional power outages (load shedding) because the house has a powerful battery. Part of our electricity needs are covered by our 14 solar panels on the roof.

The Tamboerskloof area is one of Cape Town’s most popular and trendy areas. It’s located at the foot of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, and Lion’s Head. The area captivates with its architectural mix, ranging from authentic Victorian townhouses to ultra-modern villas made of glass, steel, and concrete. It is a vibrant, long-established residential area with many schools (e.g., the famous German School and the primary school right across the street), doctors, and all the amenities needed for daily life. In recent years, Tamboerskloof has also increasingly become one of the hubs of Cape Town’s hip social scene. Some of the best restaurants, trendiest bars and cafes, and most fashionable shops are located here, all within walking distance of the house.
Tamboerskloof is the area for those who want to enjoy the best of all the worlds Cape Town has to offer: views of dramatic natural landscapes and the city, whose amenities are often within walking distance. By car, it’s just a 5-minute drive over Kloof Nek to Cape Town’s most famous beaches, Camps Bay and Clifton. The Table Mountain Railway is also just a few minutes away. And yet, if you wish, you can feel light-years away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

IMPORTANT LIABILITY NOTICE

Use of the property and all associated facilities, particularly the pool, jacuzzi, stairs, balconies, and outdoor areas, is at your own risk.

To the extent permitted by South African law, the owners, hosts, and property management assume no liability for injuries, accidents, losses, damages, or theft during the stay. This is a beautiful house with great amenities and smartly decorated. The location was central to get to city center, Table Mountain, VA Waterfront and beaches. All are a short ride away. We would stay here again when in the City Bowl. Highly recommended!
