Private, Peaceful Cottage on the Chestatee River and Dahlonega Plateau

Firelight River Cottage is a 2 bedroom/1bunkroom cottage located at the convergence of the Chestatee River and Town Creek in historic Dahlonega, Georgia. River rapids, expansive, level lawn, colorful flower gardens, and campfire rings are at your doorstep.

The beautiful, pastoral setting is the perfect place to get away from it all (no neighbors within sight). It is nestled in the heart of North Georgia’s wine country on the Dahlonega plateau (5 wineries are within a 2-5 mile radius of the cottage).

The property is a trout fisherman’s dream. It offers many easy, level entry points into the river which is stocked with rainbow, brook, & brown trout. The natural beach is an inviting spot for sunning and swimming. Three patios provide lovely areas for outdoor cooking and dining.
Golfers may enjoy playing a round at Achasta, a Jack Nicholas signature course.
Trail rides are available through nearby stables.
Shops, museums, restaurants and groceries are just a 10 minute drive away in charming, historic Dahlonega.
The fully stocked kitchen, HD TV and huge wood-burning fireplace make indoor living fun.
We have had some comments from "flat landers" about our gravel driveway. We just had it regraded and re-graveled. There are some speed bumps that direct water into the drainage ditch. Drive slowly and you'll be fine.

Dahlonega Get Away

The location and landscaping were great. The beautiful sounds of nature. We discovered Ol’ Clyde’s restaurant in Cleveland. A must try is the Avocado Fries and The Brisket.

Wonderful Cabin on the River

We had a wonderful experience at the cabin. The flowers in the yard were beautiful and the river relaxing. The location is excellent and allows you to enjoy Dahlonega and the surrounding areas with ease. I will stay here again!

Cute as can be

This little cottage in the woods is absolutely precious. It’s right by a beautiful stream with a hiking path. The kitchen is a very nice size and very well equipped. And the bedrooms very very comfy. The location is very convenient to downtown Dahlonega, which is why we were there. We had a wonderful stay.

Our Xmas getaway

Close to downtown. Cabin as described, very private. Driveway down to house needs some work. It's just gravel, but a lot of fairly deep ruts, impossible to avoid.

Small river cottage

We had a wedding to attend at Kaya Winery. We had plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 dogs. Thoroughly enjoy our time there. The sounds of the running water and relaxing by the river after a busy day was exactly what we needed. Stayed an extra day and the dogs LOVED playing in the water. We’ll be back!!

Lovely family get away

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the river cottage. We needed a break from the city and this property was wonderful! We really relaxed and had a great time fishing, tubing, roasting smores and hotdogs and watching our little dog have a blast running around. The cottage was very comfortable and I really appreciated how well stocked it was. I also appreciated the whole house filtered water. The hosts were very responsive. If you are considering this vacation spot don’t hesitate. Also, the river water was crystal clear and a perfect temperature in late September.

Relaxing Property

I enjoy taking in the outdoors and the sounds of the stream. Our dog Molly, enjoyed her walk through the leaves by the stream. On the cool nights we enjoyed the relaxing crackle and flicker of the fireplace. The town square of Dahlonega was beautiful at Christmas time.

Lovely getaway location

We enjoyed a lovely extended weekend here. It is very calming to sit by the river, or walk along the path that runs next to it. The home is situated on a very spacious lot and very private. Dahlonega is close by and we had a lovely afternoon there. The home itself is clean, very comfortable and very well stocked with everything you will need. David and Carol were super hosts. A very lovely, relaxing weekend. :)

A Great Escape

What a wonderful cottage in the mountains! My husband and I so enjoyed this cozy place. It had everything you needed! The chairs by the creek were a perfect place to escape from the real world. The cottage was so welcoming and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the large nightstands in the main bedroom with a surge protector for all of your chargers. The hosts thought of everything!

Beautiful Property - Right On The River

Easy check in. Steep driveway. Need a truck or 4x4 if raining / wet Spacious yard. Right on the River. Master suite - King Bed 2nd BR - Queen Bed 3rd BR - Bunk Beds Plenty on closet space. Good kitchen. Overall a very good property.

Water, Woods and Wine

What a delightful and relaxing little cottage. Sitting by the running stream and hearing the water run over the stones nearby creates a peaceful oasis. It feels like you have the forest to yourself, but you are within a few minutes of two of the area's finest wineries: Cavender Creek and Kaya. 10ish minutes from fun Dahlonega eateries like Shenanigans and Spirits Tavern. Helpful and responsive host. Will definitely try to book this cottage again!

Lovely cottage

The house was great and well stocked with everything you need! The lovely garden was amazing with beautiful flowers and a huge grass area for the kids to run and play. But the most stunning was the river access -there is a River just next to the garden with a nice little "beach" . It was perfect for the kids to play in and my husband to spend hours trying to catch something - in the end no fish but he definitely relaxed. There are also some very nice things to do nearby (even now!) - like the drive through safari in North Georgia Zoo. We had very nice and comfortable family vacation! Thank you very much Carol and David for letting us stay in your little gem at the river!!!

The charming and historic mountain town of Dahlonega, GA influenced our decision to invest here. Four wineries are located within 2 miles of the property. World class trout fishing is available on the property. Hiking and biking opportunities surround us. Cute shops and wonderful restaurants abound.

Lovely gardens grace the lush lawn that stretches from the cottage to the river. Fishermen enjoy numerous, level entry points into the Chestatee. . When guests are inside, a flat screen TV, huge wood burning fireplace, and fully equipped kitchen make indoor living fun. Special winter rates include free firewood.
