We had a wonderful time and was very pleased with our accommodations. Will was a great host and really worked with me when I extended my stay. It's a beautiful property, very well done inside and my favorite is the quilt room! The scenery is beautiful and full of wildlife, we got to see deer, geese, rabbits and these cute little raccoons were watching us from the tree. We will definitely be back again and hopefully next time we can just hang around and enjoy the amenities of the property a little more. Just a wonderful experience!
The host was great, the place was clean and full equipped with all appliances, overall a very great place especially the views.

This was our 3rd stay at this amazing property for our annual family reunion. If you enjoy nature and peace and quiet, it is completely worth the 20-minute drive from Kirksville. Will is an excellent host and is quick to respond to questions. The home is clean and is very well stocked with all the kitchen and bathroom supplies needed for a comfortable stay. Our family enjoys having our family reunion at this property. We all love the large space for our outdoor yard games, the use of the pedal boat for the pond, and the indoor billiards room. This year we had 4 generations (from ages 3 weeks to 85) at the reunion, and we all give this property two thumbs up! We are looking forward to returning again next year.
We needed a place to stay for a few nights near Kirksville and we’re so happy we found the Rescued Wood Retreat. The house has everything you need and then some. It was clean and well appointed. We all enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend staying here.
This was one of the most peaceful places I've had the pleasure of staying. The whole property is beautiful and available to explore. The lake has plenty of fish and they even provided the poles! The home itself is very well cared for, and so spacious and has almost everything you'd need to be comfortable for about any amount of time. There's to many good things to say about this place to list it all here, i can not wait to come back.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. It was a truly relaxing weekend, you thought of everything when stocking up for guests. Hope to stay there again 😊

I am curious to know what could have been better. What was lacking or what was troubling. What could have been done to improve the rating?
It’s so quiet and peaceful here; off the beaten path as well. Everything is very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable.
Plus, the host has thoughtfully equipped the house with everything one would need to have a great stay, including wide variety of kitchen utensils, appliances, and other supplies. We would certainly book again.
We loved this place! Beautifully remodeled famhouse surrounded by nature. So peaceful - I think I only saw 2 cars pass by the whole weekend. The hosts have thought of everything as far as amenities. Wish we had more time to enjoy everything this property has to offer. 10/10 recommend.
I have always had to take a tote bin for utensils, pans, etc. for a week's stay. Though I had brought all that, it was not necessary. Great supplies. Up-to-date decor. Very nice.
Our family loved staying at Will's place! The setting is incredible with peaceful beauty all around, yet close to Kirksville/Truman State and public recreation areas. The furnishings and decor inside are upscale, spacious, comfortable, even for larger groups. Full kitchen, dining room, and deck were wonderful for family meals. We also loved the coffee bar, fast wifi, game room, very comfy beds, neat bathrooms, big sectional, laundry, and more. We didn't have a big family retreat this time but it would work well for that, too. We will definitely be back. Thanks!

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back when you can.
This was our 2nd stay at this beautiful property for our annual family reunion. There have been some very nice updates since our last stay--the dock was added since last year, and there is now a paddle boat for use which was greatly enjoyed by our guests. Also the upper bedroom/bathroom that was in the renovation process last year is now complete and looks very nice for accommodating extra guests. Appreciated the peacefulness and serenity of this property, which is located just 20 minutes from Kirksville (at least to the Walmart parking lot--ha!). The home is wonderfully stocked with all the essential items needed to make any stay comfortable--from bath towels, soaps/shampoos & toilet paper to all the necessary kitchen items for cooking and serving meals at the property. (Our family has stayed at many different rental properties, and this one by far is the most thoughtfully and well stocked!) The pool table was a big hit for family time during a rainy morning spent inside, and the huge yard space was great for our outdoor games for our family reunion. Also greatly appreciated the large patio umbrella for some shade while we ate lunch outside. We had a few deer visitors in the backyard every morning, and we also saw wild turkey, beautiful red birds, and rabbits. Was thankful for the opportunity to rent the golf cart to explore more of the property. Will is a wonderful host and very responsive to questions. We are already looking forward to returning again next year!
Beautiful peaceful property that feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but is close enough to civilization. The house is beautifully remodeled and decorated and includes all of the comforts of home. Kitchen is well stocked with cookware, dinnerware, glasses/mugs and utensils. Appreciated the plastic cups located in the cabinets over the beautiful coffee bar for our daytime guests with children. The layout of this ranch home is great with essentially two master bedrooms with ensuites and another small bedroom and a half bath with laundry. The recreation room with the pool table was a big hit for our family who visited us for the day. Everyone also enjoyed playing yard games (that we brought from home) in the huge back yard, hiking a few of the trails, and the younger folks appreciated using the Jon boat to explore the pond. My brother and husband enjoyed chatting with the property owner (Will) when he was passing through on a golf cart and said he was very nice. Sorry I didn’t get to meet him, but I do know he is quick to respond to questions and is very accommodating. We were visiting the area for a family reunion and brought a few family members over the next day to enjoy this property. Everyone asked, “Can we just have the reunion here next year?” I’d say there is a strong possibility of this! If you enjoy seclusion and the peacefulness of nature, this is the place for you!
