About the host

We've always dreamed of owning a log home and could not resist this property when we found it searching for a mountain escape. As part time empty-nesters, with 2 college students at UGA and Kennesaw and a third kid officially off payroll graduating Auburn University in 2021, we knew we would need a place away from distractions, kid's friends, and the day to day on the rare occasions we can bring the entire family together these days.
As Milton, GA residents for 14 years, we are blessed to have the beauty of the mountains so close yet provide the escape feeling of hundreds of miles from home. We hope you enjoy our second home as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
Enjoy a short drive to a mountain escape that places you in the middle of nature, surrounded by 100s of acres of woods, deer, small furry woodland creatures. Walk the property and check fs.usda.gov for information on the adjacent US Forest Service property to explore the surrounding beauty of the mountain terrain.
We purchased this property from the original homeowners who chose a private wooded location perfect for a log home. Neighboring United States Forest Service property to the West and North, this private getaway engulfs you with natural beauty, amazing sunsets, sounds of rainfall dancing off the metal roof creating a sense of calm and relaxation like no other.
We just completed basement renovations to expand to a 6 bedroom retreat complete with a walkout stamped concrete patio, fire pit, covered porch and seating for the entire crew. Come enjoy a fire or gaze at the mountains as the sun sets behind the ridge.

What makes this property unique
Enjoy a relaxing morning on the porch swing, listening to the birds start the day. Set up the baggo boards for some friendly competition while sipping a beverage of your choice on the upper deck, soaking up the rays, or on the walkout downstairs patio if you prefer a combination of sun and shade. Curl up to a roaring fire inside the great room, or warm the whole house with a few logs in the wood burning stove. Grill masters come prepared and bring your A game and enjoy dinner on the screen porch savoring your culinary masterpiece.
Feel like exploring beyond the property, there are 8 wineries within a 10 mile radius (think Girls weekend extravaganza), hiking trails and nature preserves with breathtaking waterfall hikes just a short 15 minute drive away. We are ~20 minutes from the infamous Mt Yonah which also provides a fun family friendly brewery just outside the park's entrance. If you are looking for some throwback moments, do not miss a visit to Babyland, yes the original birthplace of the Cabbage Patch kid. Learn the history of these creepy yet somewhat adorable dolls once one of the most popular toys of the '80s.
Looking for antiques, crafts, gifts and things you really do not need? Look no further than Cleveland, Dahlonega or Helen, all within 10-20 mins of the house. Unlimited choices to support local businesses. One of our favorite restaurants is just 2 miles down the road boasting great barbecue, an extensive menu for a small tavern, many a beverage to choose from, river view seating, and live music most Saturday nights.
We know you will have a great time no matter what your itinerary entails at our cabin. Relax and enjoy your stay!
