About this property

The Superior River Cabin is a three bedroom, year round rental cabin on the shores of the AuTrain River, 10 miles southwest of Munising and the Pictured Rocks in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The cabin is also 1 mile South of Trail 418. The complete kitchen has full-sized appliances, a microwave, toaster, utensils and coffee makers (Keurig and Regular Pot). There are three bedrooms located on the upper level with a queen-size bed in one, a full and twin in the second room and two twins in the third bedroom. Main bathroom is located on the main floor and there is a half bath upstairs. Enjoy family time around the firepit and relax in the hammock. There are 2 grills on the property, charcoal and gas (propane is provided). Note: firewood is not provided.

***Door code will be released the day of check-in for security purposes. Property does have outdoor cameras at the entrance.

Great Location!

The property was exactly as advertised! While the home was comfortable and well stocked, the fire pit and front porch overlooking the river was where we spent most of our time. When we had a hot water issue, the hosts responded promptly and addressed the problem. This was a great rental at a reasonable price.

Quiet and cozy

It was a great place, everything you need they provided. It was a quiet area, no more than a 20-35 minutes to either Munising or Marquette. Beach is right down the road, and many things to do, highly recommend Riptide tour in Munising! Enjoyed our stay very much, would defiantly return. My only complaint was the water, very irony, which is understandable considering the area. Would just recommend bringing bottled water to cook, drink or make ice with. This did not hinder our stay at all! Thank you again we would recommend this place to anyone! my only complaint is the water. wad the water

GREAT cabin; Leasing Agency could do better

Welcoming open space of cooking, dining, watching movies, and playing games. Very well stocked kitchen, towels and linens provided and lots of small amenities available (previous folks have left spices and plastic baggies in the kitchen; hobo pie makers and hotdog cooking long implements out by the fire pit). Yes, the towels may be a bit frayed, and the pots and pans are used, but hey, they are there! (Which is more than can be said for most other vacation rental places). Terrific to have a washer / dryer. Great Wi-Fi and smart TV. The location is wonderful. It felt remote and secluded - a river in your back yard and Lake Superior minutes away by car. At the same time, it is walking distance to kayak rentals. a 15 minute easy drive to Munising; 45 to Marquette (grocery stores in both places).One suggestion: Pest control. Previous reviews have commented on the animals in the walls of the upstairs back bedroom. My adult daughter slept downstairs on the couch several nights rather than listen to the animals scratch. Address this problem, please.LEASING AGENT FEEDBACKLeasing agency: tighten up your processes. Despite wording on the website, apparently everyone needs to sign a contract. Reserving through the rental site, I was unaware of the contract until I reached out the week renting. I had to send multiple emails to get the contract, sign it, and receive a PDF. The leasing office should drive this process, not me. Leasing agency communications were terse, often requiring follow-up clarification emails from me. Agency: convey at the start that all communication is done by you through email (the location has sporadic cell phone coverage) Renters: check your emails BEFORE arriving. If you wait until you are standing at the cabin, you may not be able to read your emailed access code, leaving you stran

Super fun stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a bachelor party at the cabin, and it was very fun. I'm 25 years old and this was the first rental I've ever done. They made it very easy, and with the two payments, I didn't have to use my credit card so that's a bonus! We really enjoyed the cabin and the river! We actually paddled up stream to AuTrain lake (super easy, almost no current). We met a few neighbors when their dogs paid us a visit, and everyone was nice. Can't wait to rent it again and show more people how cool it is. Keep in mind, this isn't in the woods, you are in a dirt road neighborhood.

Wonderful river retreat

The lake superior cabin was everything we expected! Very clean and well supplied. We had everything we needed in a perfect location. Close to all the sites we wanted to visit yet secluded enough for the privacy we wanted.

My entire loved this cabin!

This cabin was amazing. My 4 year old boy did not want to leave what he now calls “our cabin”. The cabin was clean and well maintained. It was quiet and very relaxing. We will definitely be making another trip back!

Summer 2023 family Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Family of 5 loved the Up! We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The location was perfect. We felt secluded and safe. Cabin was very clean and tidy. The cabin had most everything we needed during our stay. If we ran out of something or needed anything there was a local grocery in Au Train. We were in walking distance to Au Train river canoe rental and they were friendly and helped make our river kayak experience great. We were close to the ATV trails, waterfalls and beaches. Easy drive to Mackinac island for a day. We used Grand Eilyn Photography for a family photoshoot on the beach of Lake Superior. Overall 10/10! Bring bug spray, and watch your step on stairs.

Plenty of parking and the firepit had plenty of Adirondack chairs. The cabin was stocked with more than enough blankets and towels however the towels were very worn and frayed. On the surface, the cabin seemed clean enough but it could definitely use a good spring clean. You might add a screen in the upstairs bedroom with the balcony. Every night we could hear a critter messing around in the ceiling above the dining room table. Something also chewed open some of our snacks. The rug by the front door kept getting caught when someone opened the door.

Great UP North Getaway

Wonderful location for both new UP visitors as well as yoopers who have moved elsewhere and are home for a visit. We loved the kitchen and were easily able to prepare meals. The Big Lake is a short drive away, but the waterfront property will help scratch your water view itch. This property can comfortably sleep 6-8 if not more. Overall, a truly great experience with friends and family.

Nice property

My wife and I enjoyed the leaves turning into fall colors. The house was cozy and comfortable. Nice view of the river. Perfect for kayaking. Everything was clean and well maintained. Couldn’t be happier with our stay.

July Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at this property for two weeks, and it was a very good choice. The location allowed us to easily visit family in Chatham and Harvey nearly every day. The river at this location was free of any downed trees and debris, which made it an excellent place for the kids to swim and play in the water. We hosted visiting family dinners, hiked the shores north of Munising, swam in Lake Superior (1.6 miles north), kayaked up to Au Train Lake three times, and kayaked all they way to Lake Superior twice (about 7.5 miles). The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The washer and dryer were perfect, the stove and refrigerator and microwave were in excellent condition, and there was lots of kitchen counter space. The well water took a little getting used to, but we mostly drank bottled water. We really enjoyed this property, and we are likely to book it again for our next visit.
