Cabin on the Crook: private, pet friendly residence alongside a nature preserve
Cabin on the Crook combines rustic charm with modern comforts in a spacious neighborhood long established as an artists' enclave. Cabin on the Crook is perfectly situated between outdoor recreation & fantastic restaurants, wilderness & convenience, adventure & amenities. This secluded home enjoys a front porch view of open pasture with pollinator gardens & the privacy of tree canopy along its remaining 3 sides. The original structure of this authentic mountain cabin was built in the 1800's. Over the years, many updates and several additions have been made, but the home remains true to its earliest character and charm. This unique space offers a retreat from busy city life, from the demands of multitasking, from noise and light pollution... It invites every guest to slow down, to enjoy a beverage and a book on the porch, to tend a fire in the outdoor ring, to star gaze..... However, the open living area of this historic house can become chilly during colder months, and bugs sometimes find their way inside. Guests are encouraged to lean into the cabin experience, to bring their favorite fuzzy socks and remember that we share the natural world with all sorts of remarkable living creatures.

What a perfect cabin for a mountain escape. We appreciated the many thoughtful amenities and beautiful spaces that have been crafted with love. The owners clearly care a lot about sustainability, and the house makes it easy to recycle and other things to help contribute. The location is perfect – super close to hiking and good restaurants, but also very quiet and pristine with beautiful nature all around. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen very well stocked. We didn’t use the hot tub, but it looked great as well. The fire pit and barbecue area is also wonderful. We hope to return!!!
Such a wonderful experience staying in this cabin. Everything you could ever need and more. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cabin, for it was just what our family needed!
We had a great time
My only suggestion would be to have more lights in the kitchen over the stove and maybe a microwave

Potential guests and especially other hosts, please be advised: this group violated our house rules, caused significant damage to our property, and have refused to communicate before, during, and after their stay. They are not welcome back to our home, and I would not recommend to other hosts under any circumstances.
We came to town for a trail race and this place was exactly what we needed. Was great to have a place with so many environmentally friendly choices and so many small touches (robes, soaps, and a few must haves in the fridge)!
Our family thought this property had such a happy vibe. The owners were so sweet and very communicative. We loved being so close to hiking and then a short drive to Chattanooga. We are coming back to see the fall leaves!!
Property was clean, neat, charming. Pictures do not do it justice. Peaceful relaxation. Hot tub was in great condition. We had a great time, tons of thoughtful touches. Superb communication as well.
This house was absolutely beautiful. We spent the week. The house is update and has been beautifully remodeled. We spent so much time walking the nature paths picking mulberries. And making smores at the fire pit. My teenagers enjoyed the hot tub!
Our family of 5 plus black lab enjoyed our stay! Cabin was cozy and nicely appointed with holiday decor and welcome treats! We very much appreciated complimentary paper products and bath necessities. Space heaters helped keep common areas warm while it snowed outside! Nice scenic drive into Chattanooga and only 5 min from Cloudland Canyon. Thank you!
The place was extremely clean and as advertised . As a small person I could not remove the hot tub cover by myself. Washer and dryer for towels would of been nice.
My particular favorite thing about the cabin was the property manager's attention to sustainability and reducing waste. If you are someone that tries to reduce waste via composting/recycling, you will love the accommodations of this cabin. For dog owners, there is a big field across the street perfect for fetching. This cabin truly has a "story", which is also well documented in the photo books, chronicling the restoration and renovation of the cabin. Perfect location for those wanting to explore Cloudland Canyon State Park over the course of a few days.
A wonderful cabin, out in country. Pet Friendly, a huge plus. My family of 5, we cooked many meals, enjoyed the hot tub, and fire pit. Cloudlands State Park is 5 minutes down the road, a great outdoor experience there. Rock City Gardens was about 25 minutes away. Grocery store only 5 miles away in Trenton. We spotted deer on the property multiple times. The living areas will get cold in winter, but heaters are in the bedrooms. A great vacation for my family and I, we would stay again.

Thank you for your kind words.
I would like potential guests to know that this reservation occurred during unseasonably cold weather for March. Please feel free to communicate any concerns you might have, temperature related or otherwise.
Great home and amenities, would like clearer definition of what the kitchen does and doesn't have.
Cabin is a great restoration with a wonderful, rustic atmosphere. The hosts have done an amazing job making this a home away from home. The location is perfect for access to Cloudland Canyon. I think there was a book or puzzle for every taste!!
It would be The BEST if I'd known there's not a microwave and better detail of what the kitchen has.
Signs throughout the cabin reminded us that we're all responsible for the planet. I totally agree and applaud the sentiment but would love to not see a note in every room. 😀

Thank you for these compliments. The listing for Cabin on the Crook, however, is thorough and detailed, and clearly indicates what amenities are and are not available. Also, had you responded to any of my attempts to contact you, I would have been happy to answer questions you might have asked.
We live in FL but wanted to see the fall leaves. This is a charming, rustic cabin with modern amenities. Comfy beds. Close to Cloudland Canyon if you want to spend time outdoors. About 30 min to downtown Chattanooga. The whole area is dog friendly. Very peaceful and quiet but still reasonably close activities if needed.
Recommend!
Being able to have our dogs with us was wonderful! We don’t really have many options for pet sitters at the moment. We took them to Cloudland Canyon State Park and they really enjoyed the change of scenery. My wife and I got married on Lookout Mountain during the fall and return to the area frequently. The cabin itself was clean, very comfortable, and in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed the charm and amenities. I wish we could have stayed longer!
What an amazing stay! We loved this cabin and Jennifer was so great to work with. The history, hard work, fine details, and love put into restoring this cabin truly shows. Thank you so much for sharing! A must see: Lookout Mountain Pottery around the corner has an impressive array of plants! Wow, definitely worth checking out!
My wife and I, along with some of our children, grandchildren, and Brinkley the dog, really enjoyed our stay at the Cabin on the Crook. The house was clean and the owner, Jennifer, was very helpful and responsive. The cabin and surrounding grounds gave you a feeling of privacy and seclusion, but you are only minutes away from grocery stores, restaurants, etc. It is also only a couple of minutes from Cloudland Canyon State Park which is very nice and highly recommended. This is a great location to simply relax but still be within short driving distance of a number of parks and other activities.
A description really can’t do this charming, comfortable cabin justice - even the pictures don’t convey how lovely it is! My adult daughter and I had plenty of space to be introverts and a wonderful living area to spend time together. It’s a charming, updated lodging with lots of special, unique touches, and the hosts go the extra mile to make you feel welcome! It’s only a couple of miles away from Cloudland Canyon State Park and not too far from Chattanooga. We loved it there so much we ended up canceling plans to go into town in favor of spending time in the cabin! Highly recommend.
This is a lovely property in a beautiful location. We enjoyed watching sunsets and fireflies on the porch in the evenings. Chattanooga is a short drive, as are the many parks and hiking trails. The cabin was very comfortable and the AC works great! We hope to return soon.

I love reading and hiking and yoga, dogs and gardens and puzzles, strong coffee and dark chocolate and red wine, people who know themselves and people who are learning to live their best life. I care about nature and sustainability, health and well being, food and farmers, art and urban aesthetics. I care about community and relationships, old and new, and so I appreciate the culture of sharing that platforms like Vrbo cultivate. I became a host in order to fund the preservation of 10 biodiverse acres of habitat on Johnson’s Crook, a corner of Lookout Mountain I call home.
