About this property
Skip’s Rustic River Cabin near Okefenokee Swamp
The river is calling your name! Answer the call at Skip’s River Cabin on the Upper St. Marys River between Folkston and St. George, Georgia. Sits right at the river’s edge, the cabin is the perfect home away from home for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. Located just 3 miles from the East entrance to the legendary Okefenokee Swamp, this retreat serves up a bounty of fishing opportunities. Bring your small boat or just enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing the beautiful St Marys River.
Important note: The St Mary’s river floods every other other year or so and when it does, the road in can be impassable. There are two options: I can make arrangements to have canoes there for you to load and paddle a short distance to the cabin or you will need to cancel as the guest and get a full refund. We know several days in advance when its going to flood and I will let you know as sops as I see I will flood. It’s actually my wife and my favorite time to go during the rare flood. It’s an island paradise and an incredible adventure. (-:

We had an excellent time at the cabin. It was so peaceful sitting on the deck by the river. Was very clean and my communications with the host was prompt and friendly. I would highly recommend this cabin to my friends. Had no problems following the directions provided straight to the cabin. All of the neighbors in the area were all respectful of each other. Truly enjoyed the weekend. Thank you for making your property available and for being a gracious host.
Definitely an exciting way to get a little off grid and enjoy the outdoors. Very rustic and cozy, we loved watching the river from the rocking chairs on the porch. We were planning on going with some friends but it didn’t work out, but it would have too cramped for five people in the first place so we’re glad it was just the two of us. Definitely make sure your car can drive through two miles of soft dirt To get to the property, we were lucky we brought our SUV.
Skip's place is a hidden gem right on the St. Marys River close to the Okefenokee Swamp. It is definitely rustic, but in the best ways. Small living/sleeping areas, but great wrap around deck and screened in porch that overlook the river. We enjoyed using the provided canoe, making a fire in the fire pit and generally relaxing "off the grid". Small fridge and freezer, so bring a cooler and some ice for extra storage of staying a few days.
Very rustic and small, but very clean and comfy! Overlooks beautiful St Marys river. Great views, deck, porch, grill, and all items needed are there. Fun place for couple or small group. Highly recommend.
i was extremely satisfied with being next to the river . location is great we went to the beach we went the swamp and visited with friends in the area ,would definitely do it again

We loved the out of the way, back woods experience. Canoeing on the river was a memorable experience. Would go out of our way to stay here again!
What an amazing place! The owner thought of everything we could need and we really enjoyed our stay. The perfect getaway for us - thank you for sharing your home with us!
Beautiful views and loved the porches. It was clean and well appointed (except we could have used a cutting board and couldn't find one). We enjoyed our stay very much.
Loved our stay- it was cold, but the cabin remained warm. Slow cooker was a bonus for dinners. Caught plenty of fish right off the bank. Perfect getaway from our neck of the woods!
Very fun experience overall. Loved the proximity to the Okefenokee. Enjoyed the fact that the cabin is also nice to walk around and explore. Lots of beautiful wildlife around. Close enough to town so you can stock up on groceries and try local restaurants. Definitely would come back.
