Breitenrain holiday lettings

A well equipped, warm, modern apartment with good quality appliances and views of the River Aare, just a short walk to the city's attractions. Access to the apartment by car was simple when following Satnav, and garaging is in a secure, dry space under the block. Check-in was clear and trouble free and the owner responded quickly and was very helpful. The apartment overlooks the Aare, providing a lovely space to while away time and people watch, including swimmers even in December. A short and relatively steep walk brings you, via the river bridge and up a sloping path which is well lit at night, into the city near Waisenhausplatz where we enjoyed several glasses of Gluhwein in one of the Christmas markets. From here you can reach city centre attractions easily on foot or on the excellent public transport system which is free to use as your host provides access to the Bern Welcome app. Just a short walk away are the Zytglogge clock, the rose garden, Botanic gardens, and the Barenpark which has 3 residents, along with good shoppping in independent shops or department store Loeb. We enjoyed using the gas bbq but also found, on the same side of the river as the apartment and a short walk away near Barenpark, the Altes Tramdepot - a brewpub/restaurant with good modern beers and food. In the old centre we enjoyed the Biercafe Au Trappiste in Rathaus Gasse and a cafe in department store Loeb. An enjoyable city stay with riverside walks outside the door.

Nicely appointed apartment with period features in a historic building in the heart of the old town. Very handily placed for restaurants, bars etc. Three flights of a narrow spiral staircase to climb, part of the period charm, but might not suit everyone. Excellent communication from the owners, which we appreciated.

Super nice facilities, clean, modern and friendly. The place was only 5 minutes away by train from the city centre. I will definitely come back. Loved it!
