Shep's Studio Hideaway is available as a 4 person cabin. This cute cabin is brand new & tucked away down the hill from the street, nestled in the trees. It's located in the Lincoln National Forest & is across the street from a hiking trail that connects with the OSHA trail.

The Hideaway is part of our summer compound where Shep has his private art studio. He teaches art classes every August. You will have fantastic views from the back deck of the Hideaway. You'll feel like you are in a treehouse. Wildlife wander through the area on a daily basis. There are 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom, wi-fi & internet connections, 55" smart TV, wood stove, central heat, ceiling fans. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook meals. Outside, there is a large table & benches built from trees that had to be taken for the construction.

Cloudcroft has lots of shops, several great restaurants & a brewery. There is a park which features tennis/pickle ball courts, ice skating rink & lots of festivals. Check out the museum on Hwy. 82 in-between the schools & the fire department to learn the history of Cloudcroft. During the summer months, there is always something going on in the village such as the melodramas. These are fun plays where you can hiss & boo the villains & throw popcorn at them. Fun for all ages. If you like to golf, The Golf Course at The Lodge is for you. It's been around since 1899 & they have a great scramble every Wednesday that everyone is invited to play.

If you want to spread your wings a bit, Ruidoso is 45 minutes away. You'll find more shopping, restaurants, Ski Apache with skiing, amazing zip line & open both winter & summer. There's also casinos & the horse race track. Down the mountain, you'll find White Sands National Monument, Three Rivers Petroglyphs, more shopping, restaurants, antiquing, thrift shops galore, zoo, train museum, art galleries, movie theatre, bowling, & more.

Why they chose this property

Donna grew up going to Ruidoso to ski & summer camp. Her parents, being chaperones on these trip, fell in love with the area & eventually purchased land outside Cloudcroft. When her parents passed on, she & Bob considered building something on the property but decided to buy something in the village. They bought the cabin next-door (Shep's Artist Retreat), bought the lot next-door & built the garage/art studio a couple of years later. Now, we've built our new little jewel (Shep's Studio Hideaway). Donna's sister & brother-in-law now own the property that was their parents.

What makes this property unique

We are so excited about this new little cabin. It's cozy but spacious with an open floorplan. The back deck has captured everyone who enters the cabin. You can open the backdoor & it all becomes one big room that makes you feel like your are in a treehouse. Since we're in the village, you'll have easy access to all the village has to offer.

Since we now have the two cabins (Shep's Artist Retreat & Shep's Studio Hideaway) next to each other, we can offer rental of both cabins for a larger group & give a 15% discount on the nightly rates of both cabins.
