We stayed at The Hygge for the second time , with friends, for our anniversary. We were there for 3 nights and as beforel, the bedrooms and living room were so comfortable, the bathrooms and kitchen rocked, and we really enjoyed using the sauna, deck, and hot tub.
However, it rained really hard throughout our stay and there was a drip leak in the kitchen ceiling which started around 3 AM the first night, and left water all over the floor. The leak was from the flat roof area and was not in any other room. We put a cooler under it, called the contact number, left a message, and they responded promptly by text. They kept us apprised of what would be done but it took maintenance 2 days to come to address it. We figured the delay was due to the pouring rain --- he couldn't get on a roof to seal and caulk, But he did come and we appreciated that greatly.
Other things that might want to be addressed:
There was no dish detergent, aluminum foil, or extra paper towels when we arrived, so we bought those at the nearby Walmart and just brought what we didn't use, home with us. In the sauna/hot tub area ---- there are birds' nests and mud wasp nests up in the eaves/walls and the globe lights are pretty dirty with bird droppings; one is especially covered.
We were going to use the fireplaces but didn't know if there was a damper to open or not on them and there was nothing in the house manual about how to do it. So, we didn't take the chance and did not use either.
All in all, though, we had a VERY good time; we were comfortable and cozy; and we appreciate the Box Hop and all that you have done to make Hocking Hills such an enjoyable anniversary destination for us. Thank you so much!
