Thank you! We really wanted you to experience the perfect derby weekend. We know the weather wasn’t ideal but hope the roses and bourbon balls added to your experience!
About the host
Hosted by Hope Leet Dittmeier
We are natives of Louisville and love our city and our neighbors. Our home is our pride and joy and almost every inch has been designed with aesthetics, ease and comfort in mind. Paul is retired and Hope is the Executive Director of a local nonprofit that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our three year old grandson, Axl, is the light of our lives and we are fortunate to be his caregiver while his mother works. We love traveling, especially to tropical climates with beaches.
Why they chose this property
We love entertaining so our home is designed with that purpose in mind! People describe our home as unique, welcoming and cozy. We live in a highly sought after neighborhood, the Highlands. Whether you want to go for a nice dinner, walk through the park, explore a Farmers' Market, visit a great coffee or ice cream shop, meander through small local shops, or enjoy a beer on the patio of a microbrewery, you can walk to it from here! If you want to go downtown, the bus stop is less than five minutes from our door.
What makes this property unique
This home essentially has two living spaces. On the first floor you will find a living room with gas fireplace and big screen TV, a dining room that seats 8 - 10, a bar area with a beer fridge, a fully-stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances, farmhouse sink and bar stools, a master bedroom with en suite bath with soaker tub and large shower, an additional bathroom with marble shower, and a bedroom with queen sleeper sofa. Upstairs you will find a kitchenette with sink, disposal, dishwasher, small refrigerator, small coffee pot, microwave, artisan countertops and round table for four. There is also a sitting area with leather sofa. Another room serves as a private sitting room with television. There are two bedrooms upstairs - one with double bed, the other with twin bed. There are two outdoor areas - the large back deck which is partially covered with fire pit, TV, ceiling fan, and large double grill (one side gas/one side charcoal). The backyard which is accessed off of the deck is small but fenced in. The front porch is a great place to sit and meet neighbors as they walk by. We have a three year old grandson so there is the option to use high chairs, portable crib, and lots and lots of toys!
It will be relatively easy to get to Churchill Downs for Thurby, Oaks and/or Derby. There is a public bus stop just a stone's throw away from the house. The drive is less than 8 miles, mostly highway. There are also plenty of places to walk to great restaurants, brewpubs, etc.
