Beachfront Beauty on Northern Pond

Who builds a house during a pandemic?!? We did! It was a challenging year navigating unprecedented cost of materials and delayed deliveries, but we are now welcoming you to be our guests and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Features:
3 stories plus spectacular rooftop deck with a 360 degree view of the Pamlico Sound and Ocracoke Village.
Beachfront with use of 2 kayaks on Northern Pond - the perfect swimming hole.
Covered parking under house plus large parking pad for extra vehicles.
Cargo lift from ground to each floor. Security camera protection at ground level entrance.
Custom details, stained glass windows, tiled baths, granite countertop and comfortable brand new furniture.

1st floor includes a spacious screened entry porch and outdoor shower, foyer, laundry room, 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath with tub/shower.

2nd floor includes open concept living room, dining room and kitchen with pantry and half bath plus a large deck with view of the Pamlico Sound.

3rd floor includes a large suite with spa room, walk in shower and soaking tub, and private deck with the same wonderful water view. Plus there is another 1/2 bath and cozy den for movie night, bunk beds and access to the spiral staircase to the roof.

Rooftop includes a deck with seating for sun bathing and star gazing.

Guests provide their own sheets for beds and towels for kitchen, bath and beach. NO PETS NO gatherings, registered guests only Quiet hours after 10pm
Please rinse sand off using outside foot shower. Wipe up spills and use coasters to protect the furnishings. Turn off exterior lights overnight.

Amazing waterfront!

We absolutely loved our stay! Such a great house with amazing views from every floor….especially the roof! Tons of thoughtful details. Owner was super helpful with questions. Already booked again for next year.

We had an amazing time at The Tide is Turning! The home is so well appointed and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the original design. Access to the beach, kayaks and the top sitting porch are just icing on the cake. Our host was super responsive to questions and really friendly throughout the reservation process and our stay. We were already talking together as a family about returning to this same property in the future. If you haven't been to Ocracoke before, it is also a treat. Most of the island can be accessed by bicycle or walking. The beaches require a very short drive, but they are beautiful. Some beaches allow driving onto the shore, which is really convenient. All in all, we considered this a perfect trip! Many thanks to our hosts for allowing us to enjoy their beautiful home for a week! It was a wonderful week!

Beautiful home with stunning 360 view

This is a stunning home on a quiet street, comfy beds and furniture, and very helpful host. The cargo lift is genius! We enjoyed watching the sunrises and sunsets from the rooftop patio each day. Visited in the off season when most things were closed but the Variety Store and the well equipped kitchen served us well. We highly recommend this property and hope to return again.

Amazing Home

If the fact that I have already booked this home again is not enough testimony then I will provide a little more. I loved this house! We all felt at home and relaxed. Stunning slice of heaven!

This house is absolutely beautiful inside and out! The decor, layout and views take your breath away. You are off the beaten path but so close to all your needs. We not once drove our own vehicles while we were on the island. The lookout on top of the house is the best piece of the house during sunsets. Kathy we very responsive to any questions asked and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely share this property with all who wants to listen!

Incredibly wonderful visit

The Tide is Turning is a spectacular home in a stunning setting. Attention to details exists throughout this home. We enjoyed having multiple decks-- all with amazing views-- to spread out; room for readers, my crawling granddaughter; my son-in-law working some. Perfect. But the single most incredible aspect is the roof top deck, complete with seating and a table. Sunsets are wonderful, but we also had a heat lightening show (in the distance) complete with shooting stars (yes, more than one) that left us knowing we'd had a unique and special experience.

Beyond fabulous! This house is a true gem!

This house is gorgeous from the breathtaking views to the layout and decor, and most of all it's extremely comfortable and spacious. From the moment we arrived, we were "on vacation" with such fantastic accommodations. Every detail has been thought of and there are so many nice touches that make staying here a breeze! Comfortable couches, beds, outdoor furniture and huge kitchen with open counters and cooking/preparing space. Walk in pantry a DREAM! Kids loved fishing around the water in the kayaks, and we all enjoyed the beach and floating in the water. Highly recommend this property it's completely worth it! The hosts could not have been better or more gracious and kind. This place is over the top!

Fantastic stay at The Tide is Turning

We cannot imagine a more perfect location and gorgeous house on Ocracoke! The house is new and an architectural delight, and is beautifully appointed with all of the amenities one could want. This includes really comfortable seating / lounging on the multiple decks as well as inside. It is located directly overlooking the sound for an unbelievable view from sunrise to sunset. We were lucky to have some good weather in our early Spring visit, but not unexpectedly some rain and high winds as well, and on those days it was a delight to watch and enjoy the turbulent water from the main living area. The immediate area is quiet, but it's a short walk into town for shops and restaurants. Ocracoke itself is a wonderful oasis of miles and miles of pristine beaches and natural areas surrounding a lovely town with great food and distractions. This was our first visit to Ocracoke, but certainly won't be our last, and same for The Tide is Turning!

Amazing in every way!

This was without a doubt my favorite property I have stayed in in more then 32 years of renting. Every single detail is well thought out and astounding. I noticed something new and special every day. The details are incredible. You won’t be sorry renting here. The pictures do not do it justice even though they are fabulous. They hosts are great and super friendly. They have the best taste and cleanliness and safety in mind. I’m going back whether they let me or not asap! Lol! Rent now before I do. Thank you so very much Kathy. Nice chatting. Spring Break

Let me start by saying that Kathy went above and beyond our expectations in ensuring our stay was perfect. And it was. The house was stunning. We enjoyed the views and the beautiful decorations. Our time there was very windy so many outside activities weren’t possible. We didn’t care because we enjoyed staying in and playing cards and just relaxing. What a wonderful space to have some family time. The furniture and beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped for preparing our meals. The location was perfect. Easily walkable to shops and restaurants. Zillies was nice and close for a glass of wine although nothing beat having drinks at the house with the gorgeous views of the sound. We rented a golf cart from ocracoke island golf cart just at the end of the street. Convenient and great customer service. This house fit our crew nicely. Our two teenage sons each brought a friend. Everyone had their own bed and was comfortable.

Yes Indeed!!

Incredible location on the backside of Ocracoke! Direct access to the water was ideal and we thoroughly enjoyed having the two included kayaks. Furthermore, the enjoyment of the view was heightened by an incredible rooftop deck where you can especially enjoy the Milky Way or storms by night and 360 vistas during the day. We love the well appointed open kitchen. All of the appliances worked incredibly well which is a rarity at times in the rental world.. We also loved the floor plan set up with the second floor being a central gathering area and cooking area and the first floor being home for two of the bedrooms with the master suite on the third. Is really a louder group a lot of flexibility and gathering. Our teenage traveling companions especially enjoyed the front facing first floor porch as well. Beautiful stained glass windows on every floor! Very ample parking both underneath the residence and out front. It’s on a dead-end street so traffic was incredibly minimal. Special areas for cleaning up after a day on the boat or on the beach included an extensive outdoor shower, foot cleaning area, and fish cleaning station. We took a bit of a risk on this house before even seeing pictures of the completed house and it exceeded our expectations!!

Our first trip to Ocracoke was the year we met in 1981. We fell in love with each other and the island, never thinking we would someday own a home with the dream of someday living there. Currently working in Raleigh with 2 kids recently out of college, we escape in either direction - to the island and to the NC mountains (check out our Blowing Rock listings #486190 and #1182504.). We look for folks who also share an appreciation of Ocracoke and would enjoy staying in an island home on a sandy beach that captures times past. Our hope is that you will feel part of this community.
