About this property
Okra Inn: Beautifully Designed B&B, Full Buyout, Off-Street Parking, Huge Yard
Have The Okra Inn all to yourselves! Housed in a historic Mid-City building, The Okra Inn was recently renovated by us into a colorful, beautifully designed guest house, full of New Orleans character. With six guest rooms, 4.5 baths, large inviting living, dining, and kitchen spaces, a huge backyard, and parking for 4 cars, it's a one-of-a-kind home base for gatherings and getaways with friends and family. Pretty much everyone who stays with us says they think the space is amazing; come see why!
THE SPACE The Inn is a large, historic camel back that was renovated and expanded into a licensed bed & breakfast. During the renovation, we took great care to preserve the home's distinctively New Orleanian character rather than create another bland, forgettable rental. The house features 12-foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, beautiful molding, and a jazzy blend of colors.
Upstairs are six bedrooms and four full bathrooms, including two en-suite bathrooms in the master bedrooms and two off the hallway. Downstairs is a spacious living room, dining room, and fully stocked kitchen, plus another half bathroom. There's plenty of room for groups of up to 12 guests.
On the property, you'll find off-street parking for up to four vehicles and a breezy back porch overlooking our huge backyard, complete with play equipment.
Note about the space: We live in a separate owner's unit within the building, behind locked doors with our own separate entrances. The entire interior guest space is exclusively yours during your stay. We do share the backyard and parking areas with guests, and you may occasionally see us around the property—but your guest rooms and all indoor common areas are completely private to your group.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Mid-City is one of New Orleans' most lively and eclectic neighborhoods, and a great home base for exploring the city. We're just a short walk from the streetcar, which makes getting to the French Quarter and Central Business District easy. Uptown, Tremé, the Lakefront, and other neighborhoods are also within easy reach.
And there's plenty to explore right here. Within about 1.5 miles you'll find dozens of locally owned restaurants and bars, including Parkway Bakery & Tavern, multiple music venues and coffee shops, City Park, the New Orleans Museum of Art and Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Bayou St. John, Café du Monde, Angelo Brocato's, grocery stores and specialty markets, kayak and paddle boat rentals, swimming pools, and some of New Orleans' famous above-ground cemeteries.
Come hungry, curious, and ready to explore. Y'all are going to love Mid-City!
GETTING AROUND
Off street parking is available. We are located four blocks from a major streetcar stop, which is then a 15 minute ride to The French Quarter and Central Business District. We are a 5 minute ride to City Park (or 20 minute walk), and a 5 minute ride to New Orleans' famous above ground cemeteries. Blue Bikes offers bicycle-sharing that allows for pickup and drop-off throughout the city. Uber and Lyft operate in New Orleans as well as traditional taxis. And if you really want the fun way to get around, you can always hire a party bus...

The home was exactly what we needed. It’s absolutely perfect for a large family or group traveling together for an event. With four full baths, showering was a breeze. The property was quaint and the owners friendly. The property was clean and conveniently located.
Complete kitchen, easy access to transit, spacious and comfortable rooms. Beatiful place and not in the sterile room-for-hire way - its clear they put thought and effort into making The Okra Inn feel like a home. The parking and yard situation was a massive plus too. Highly recommend.
Lindsay was an excellent host, easy to contact, very helpful and answered all questions. The place was very well kept, kitchen had everything we needed, the rooms were plentiful. Grocery Shopping and restaurants all nearby. It was a great stay.
We've been renting houses for JazzFest for more than 15 years. This was the best overall. Not quite as close as some of our rentals, but more than made up for by the accomodations, the cleanliness, and the excellent hosts. The hosts have devoted a lot of love and attention to this place, and it shows. Highly recommended.
This vrbo was very cute and aesthetic. Lots of space and in a great location to access areas like Jackson Sq and Downtown NOLA. The house had a sweet southern charm and definitely lived up to New Orleans reputation. I was so thrilled with our stay and our hosts were incredibly accommodating and have a very lovely home.
In NOLA for a family reunion, staying here with other family at the Iberville location about 6 blocks (walking distance) away, Hosts very helpful and accommodating. Wonderful space allowing for both togetherness and privacy. Near streetcar, shopping for staples, and numerous eating options. We’d do it all again.
Great house and location for our daughter s wedding. Room for adult kids, spouses and grandchildren. Owners were responsive and attentive. Back yard was a plus for the kids. Loved the whole weekend.
This is a well maintained, clean, perfectly located Inn. The owners were friendly and helpful. Off street parking on Carrollton just south of Canal made for easy access to all the places we needed to be. Mostly Jazz Fest. Comfortable beds and plenty of room for the 8 of us. We will definitely be back... Thanks Lindsay and Adam...and Bingo
The property is awesome! The location is good! We stayed the night before our cruise and it was perfect for a family of 11. The host was very attentive to messages and the communication was great. My daughter left something behind and the host informed us.We hadn’t realized it was left. She held it for us until after our cruise. Great stay. Definitely recommend!!
The Okra Inn is the property to book if you are needing space, convenience, and comfort. My family and I reserved the location to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. I must say the pictures are not enough to justify how beautiful this home is! It was beyond clean and well organized. Last but not least, the owners Lindsay and Adam were hospitable and friendly. They were excellent with communication and assisted us with all questions. We will definitely book here again!
The Okra Inn was a great festival house for our group 7. Some of us ran up and down the stairs (all of the bedrooms were upstairs) and some of us climbed the stairs slowly . . . Every morning we gathered around the roomy island/bar to have fun cooking breakfast and COFFEE TOGETHER. These original NOLA houses have some stories to tell and the Okra Inn was intriguing in that way. It was colorful, clean, and comfortable, especially the rocking chairs on the front porch. The property hosts, Lindsay and Adam, were friendly and responsive. We all loved our time together at the Okra Inn. See you soon, Mercedes
Would highly recommend! Very spacious and well decorated! All of the furnishings were very comfortable! Guests were lovely people! Will definitely stay there again!
The Okra Inn is a great place for multiple people. Our group of 5 couples had plenty of room to visit together and bedrooms for all with one to spare. After coming off our cruise we were in need of a place for our luggage till we could check in and Adam and Lindsay were very accommodating. A short walk to the street car stop and we could explore New Orleans . Very good recommendations on eating at Katie’s. Charming house!
