FISHING
Great fishing can be had right off your dock on Upper and Lower Herring Lake. Please catch and release, especially on Lower and Upper Herring Lakes. For fishermen who like to cast near Lake Michigan, both Frankfort and Elberta have fishing piers on Lake Betsie, which is essentially Frankfort Harbor. It is known for salmon, brown trout, steelhead, smallmouth bass, and catfish.
On calm days, locals like to fish from the north and south cement breakwater piers that reach way out into Lake Michigan.
The Frankfort Tackle Box on Main St has bait, tackle, licenses and great advice. For salmon, lake trout and steelhead charters, I recommend Power Trip or Tiny Bubbles.

The location, cleanliness, communication, and overall enjoyment of our stay made our vacation a very pleasant and fun filled experience.
We will definitely look into staying here again sometime in the future.
We had a relaxing time in our cottage. Sitting on the dock watching the sunset was magical. There were paddle boards, kayaks, and rowboats to use. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed.
The cottage was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We had a minor issue, contacted owner and he came to cottage and fixed it the first evening. He gave us suggestions on where to eat and sites to visit. Setting was quiet and peaceful. Very enjoyable!!
Was looking for something close to the wedding I was going to and on a lake that all in my party would enjoy and this property fit the bill. Beautiful views, peaceful and something for everyone.
Nice remodeled cottages on the lake. Close to town but quiet setting. Property owners very knowledgeable about the area and super accommodating. The paddle boards and kayaks provided are a great addition to the fun!
We had a great time!
The lake was nice and quiet and you are able to see the bottom. The adirondack chairs on the dock were the perfect place to watch a sunset. The boat, kayaks and paddle boards were also so convenient.
We're already set to rebook for next year!!
We stayed in one of the cottages (only four or five there), on the water, it was great. close to lots of hiking all over like Sleeping Bear etc., plus they had Kayaks we used, owners were nice and available if we needed anything. the lake is sparsely populated which was great too, not a lot of boats making noise, etc. Highly recommended!
Comfortable cottage and great location for visiting the Frankfort, MI area. Very quiet and relaxing. Bedrooms were small and difficult to navigate (walk around) due to the limited clearances between the beds and walls. But overall worked well for our short stay.
Very pleased with property. 2 adults and 2 teens. Clean. Nice setup with numerous cottages. Easy access to laundry in main house, with 2 washers and 3 dryers. Nice sunset view from chairs on the dock. Good location for Sleeping Bear dune, Cherry Bowl drive in. Explored nearby towns of Beulah and Frankfort, with cute shops. Wasn't warm enough to use SUP and kayaks but they looked nice. Would stay here again.
Cottage 3 was a great little cottage for our family of 3. It is renovated very nicely and big picture window looks out to the lake. Kayaks, SUPs, cornhole, the pier, and a fire ring kept us occupied when we weren’t exploring the nearby area. Bedrooms are a little tight but we were only in them to sleep so we didn’t mind at all. Would highly recommend!
It was wonderful! The cottage was perfect for us, we loved the wonderful dock, the waterfront setting, the lovely mix of privacy and connection with others staying in some of the nearby cottages. The biking was great, it was a wonderful trip for us and we hope to do a repeat again, with a stay with the Turners! Thank you Pete and Bliss, you guys are great hosts!

Cottage was very clean. It is a small cottage which worked for our family (2 adults, 2 teens) but I probably would have enjoyed a larger space if there had been more people in our group (the cottage will sleep 6). Access to paddleboards, row boats, kayaks. Close to downtown Frankfort (about a 10-minute drive) and Lake Michigan. Definitely recommend for a group looking for a quiet, private get-away.
Nice time. Cottage on the lake had all the basics needed, suitable cleanliness for a cottage style accommodation, and beautiful views out the windows. The dock chairs, fire pit, and boat options were well used by our group. Nice location to "break up" the drive coming up north to hit up sleeping bear dunes. Little pricy, but for Memorial Day weekend as a late booking, knowing everything is pricy, I'm not complaining....much better than a hotel room for only a little bit more cash, and gave the "up north" vibe without the work and discomfort of camping. Host was friendly and responsive. Our group was 3 teens and 2 adults, and we didn't feel cramped using the pullout couch, trundle bed, and main bedroom.
Was a beautiful place to stay! Worked out well for our weekend trip and definitely appreciated the waterfront view and free kayak use! Super peaceful lake, not too busy or noisy. Close to the cute town of Frankfort. Definitely recommend the restaurants “Birch and Maple” and the Taco place right next door to there as well. The only complaint I had was that because of the shared Wi-Fi among the cabins, on the evening when we planned a movie night, the movie would not play on the smart tv because the Wi-Fi was too much in use (in the other cabins) and we had to wait until the other cabin turned their show off before we could get the movie to play. If I had known beforehand, I would have brought a dvd and player to hook up. But, overall, I would book here again.
The property was clean and comfortable for two people (maybe for parents and very small children). The two bedrooms were small with not much room for luggage or moving around. The VRBO description said the property would sleep six and had a hot tub. As stated above, the property was fine for two adults and would not accommodate six people. There was no hot tub.

The bedroom description is clear with a queen, twin trundle, and a sleeper sofa queen in the living room. Apologies about the jacuzzi, that auto populated over the winter by vrbo and is now cleared for the second time. We are right in the lake and have never had a jacuzzi.
Stayed at this amazing updated lakefront cottage with my sister and niece for the Frankfort 70.3 Ironman race. Location could not be better. Cottage is updated and pictures are accurate. Host was VERY accommodating and great, very fast communication through the whole process. Comfortable beds. Kitchen had all the necessities to make this place your home. 10 stars all the way around. Only wish I could have stayed longer. Will definitely stay again if I make it back up to the area. Thank you for such a great experience!
