About this property
Lupine Landing | Tiny Home on the Big Lake
Great things come in small packages! Book your dream getaway to Lake Superior’s South Shore at Lupine Landing, Cornucopia’s most charming tiny home. This 500 square foot cottage (plus a four-season porch) may be small in size, but it has every amenity you may want, plus stunning Lake Superior views.
Your host runs Bark Point Ventures, a vacation rental management & concierge company that specializes in properties on Lake Superior's South Shore. She lives nearby and is available 24/7 to assist her guests. Our passion is ensuring guests experience the magic of what we feel is one of the most amazing places in the world.
The South Shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feels like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities around here, as well as local arts, plus places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor adventure, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 25 minutes away, and it's roughly a half an hour to Washburn (where you’ll find the largest grocery store in the area). Ashland is about 40 minutes away, with a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and a wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away.
Lupine Landing is located on Spirit Point in Cornucopia, a teeny peninsula that sticks out into Lake Superior & Siskiwit Bay. The home sits on a nearly two-acre parcel which gives you plenty of greenery all around on top of the stunning lake views.
The entrance of the cottage takes you right into the light-filled four-season porch. This is likely where you’ll want to have your morning coffee and evening beverages as you can cozy up on the couch and gaze out at the lake without having to fight off mosquitos (or the cold)! The porch also has an fine assortment of games, should you have a rainy or lazy day during your stay.
Once you enter the cottage proper, you’ll first notice how spacious it feels, thanks to the vaulted ceilings and open plan layout. The main part of the cottage houses the kitchen, dining, and living areas. You’ll be amazed at how functional and fully-outfitted such a small space is! The kitchen, while small, has every appliance (even a popcorn maker!), utensil, and cookware item you may need. The dining table seats up to three. And it has the cutest little refrigerator you’ve ever seen!
The living area has a full-size couch and a comfy swivel chair, both situated to enjoy the warmth of the gas fireplace and the views of the lake.
The two bedrooms are compact, but have everything you’d need, so thoughtfully set up & organized. The first bedroom has a full-size bed (brand new memory foam mattresses are in both bedroom) and the second bedroom has a queen-size bed. Both have windows with views out into the woods & gardens, charging stations, ceiling fans, and ample storage for your luggage & belongings.
The bathroom also feels surprisingly spacious - it has a large shower, single vanity, and a surprisingly large medicine closet for your toiletries.
Everything about Lupine Landing feels modern, new, and so well thought-out. We’re confident you’ll fall in love with this tiny cabin that has a big heart!
*Please note that there are two exterior cameras monitoring the front door and the exterior of the garage.
Due to the lack of public transportation and the distance between towns/amenities, a car is pretty much essential. But, on the plus side, traffic is not a concept we have up here!
This home is in a heavily wooded area: seasonal pests/bugs can be expected. Although the home is water-facing, there is not direct beach access from the property. Watch children near bluff/water's edge, as there is no fencing. There are no fires allowed other than use of the propane "fire-table." - Short drive to Cornucopia and Meyers beach This home has a security camera which monitors the driveway/front of the property "As much as we love dogs, canine guests are NOT allowed at this property. We're happy to help you locate a dog-friendly rental should you require one."

This place was exactly what we needed for a nice getaway. It is not actually that tiny. Plenty of room with the two bedrooms, living area and porch. The kitchen was big enough to cook in without issue (although i mostly used the grill). Location was fantastic for us. It is right on Lake Superior so you hear the waves and can see the caves across the inlet. Great for reading a book or learning guitar. Cornucopia is right down the highway and has a great general store as well as nice coffee and food places. The drive to Bayfield is easy and scenic. I would so love to go back to this place again!
We had a great relaxing stay. The cabin was cute and was perfectly centered in the areas we wanted to be. Loved the view of the lake and the fresh breeze through the windows. Wish we had planned on one more day.
This perfectly situated tiny cabin has all of the comforts of home while being tucked away in a quiet and peaceful setting. Beautiful extra touches. Excellent for those who want to unplug and breathe deep. Breathtaking views of Superior, a must stay for nature lovers.
Entire property is LOVELY! We used it as a home base while exploring the Apostle Islands, Meyers Beach, and the Bayfield area. Host has thought of everything! We enjoyed peaceful sunrises and sunsets sitting outside by Lake Superior. Twice, bald eagles fly past right at eye level as we enjoyed our morning coffee after sunrise. The home interior is new and spotless. The beds are super comfortable. Grounds are stunning with a mix of natural areas and manicured areas where needed. We loved popping in to Corny Coffee each morning for delicious quiche on our way to Bayfield. Location is perfect for what we wanted: privacy and peacefulness to retreat and recharge, while still being a short drive to our points of interest. We left wishing we had budgeted more time to simply enjoy being at Lupine Landing!
Absolute serenity! We came up from the Twin Cities for a 20 year anniversary weekend and it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. Quiet, beautiful views of Lake Superior. Lots of hiking within close proximity of the property and a fun time out on a cruise of The Apostle Islands!
This was exactly as described Whoever stocked this house is a genius! We had everything we needed and more Amazing use of space. While compact it didn’t feel crowded. The only thing I would note, not in relation to the property at all, is that if you are visiting in the winter or early spring bring food! Not many places were open and a trip to the grocery is a good couple of hour experience round trip. Most boutique shopping is closed until warmer season as well.

So happy you enjoyed your time here, and yes, this time of year the shopping is pretty slim, as the winter time and early spring are considered "off-season," although we find lots to love up here even then :)
We had never been to this area of WI or the south shore of Lake Superior but found it beautiful and quaint. Perfect spot to get away but still not be too far away from things to do (Bayfield & Ashland). The mosquitoes were thick but that is to be expected in the trees and greenery. A gentle breeze through the grounds off the lake keeps them at bay and cools the cabin down nicely. If you visit this area be sure to check out The Cranberry Over Superior. Recommended by the host in the guest book and two of the best meals we have had. Highly recommend the area and Lupine Landing!
Property manager did not contact me with instructions on how to enter. I had to call VRBO. Internet access did not work. I texted and called the property manager and never received a call back. My trip was for writing and I needed internet access to get to my work. So I drove to Bayfield each day and sat at a coffee shop all day to write.
The cabin is small, but just right for 1-3 people. Modern and comfortable. Lake Superior is about 200 feet away. But there is about 20 foot steep slope to the water. no safe way to get really close to the water here. It was very quiet and not overly developed.
This tiny home aligned with its listing information - small but close to everything. It rained for the first 2 of our 5 nights/days so we were inside more than we planned and while the kitchen had all the essentials it was so small that it was difficult for two to share in tasks so we landed on one of us prepping and other cleaning up afterwards. Not a bad compromise. For a larger adult male I found the shower a bit tight too. We noticed the lights blink momentarily and assumed there was a power interruption and when water didn’t get hot, we explored and found the hot water heater needed to be reset. This was easy enough to accomplish with instructions on the heater in the adjacent closet. We brought along our own TV because we saw rain in the forecast. The WiFi allowed easy streaming for movies on our Smart TV.
I almost hesitate to share how perfect this adorable cottage is for fear it will diminish my family's opportunity to rebook. Guests were two adults and our 13-year-old son who confirmed that the wi-fi worked perfectly for video games in between beach and sea cave exploration and trips to Bayfield & Madeline. We had such a wonderful stay and were so impressed at the amount of forethought put into every little detail of the place. Each time we said, "I wish we had..." we'd discover that exact thing just where we would have looked for it. A well-stocked kitchen and bathroom but also notepads and pens near an excellent selection of games (although sadly, our entire family did perish from dysentery while playing "the Oregon Trail" game). Erin was very responsive to any/all questions we and the ability to order local produce, meat and fish was such a benefit - leading to a wonderful brat and grilled whitefish dinner with fresh local salad and smores. The small space lives well and doesn't feel small except for walking space around the master bed (got a little tight with two people and suitcases.) The house is situated to feel extremely private with a cliff view of the lake and beautiful setting. Great star and firefly gazing! We are absolutely coming back and spent fifteen minutes prior to check out scrolling available dates and comparing against our family calendar. Highly recommended! (Just not on the weekends we want to visit!)
Highly recommend. The place had multiple unexpected conveniences such as spices, olive oil, coffee, phone charger adapters, etc. Very clean and perfect location. We appreciated no TV. Quiet environment. Lulled to sleep by the waves every night.
Great stay with a lake view near a charming little town
Overall we enjoyed Lupine landing, the house was tastefully decorated, clean and well thought out. I will say as others might have mentioned the shower is small and a few other quirks about the house like the water/hot water, location of the septic, noisy ceiling fans. Some of these are just the nature of the location and based on size of the house which the host does mention. Overall the place was a great stay being a few minutes from Cornucopia. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of supplies. Make sure to try the miracle water at the local artesian well nearby! We would definately stay again.
This is a nice, new, cabin in the woods on the shore of Lake Superior. Cornucopia and the Apostle Islands NP are 5 min away so trails, stores and great food are easily at hand. I highly recommend this house.
Property was quaint
Very clean, plenty of towels, dishes etc
View was fantastic
