About the host
Hosted by Allison

Casa Sunbreak owner, Allison Porter, grew
up in Delaware and received a Bachelor of
Arts in elementary education from the
university of Vermont in 1984. After a few
years of teaching, Allison took a year off and
ended up on a NOLS trip kayaking and
backpacking Baja California Sur. On that trip
she met her future husband and fell in love
with the Sea of Cortez and especially La
Paz. She spent the majority of her 15 years
in BCS living on a sailboat, exploring the Sea
of Cortez and raising her 3 kids. In 2004
Allison and her family started Sunbreak
Educations, a non-profit that brought school
supplies to the small fishing villages in the
Sea of Cortez. After returning to the US in
2011 and helping to care for her mother with
dementia, Allison was able to return to La
Paz for good in 2018. She began the journey
to open Casa Sunbreak upon her return and
she is so excited to be able to share a slice
of La Paz with you.
