Everything was awesome!! I only wish that we could have stayed longer. The accommodations were clean and the house was very welcoming. The animals were also adorable and well cared for.
Love all the animals! The space is very comfy and fun. Great location that’s not too far away from the city but far enough to be very quiet and peaceful. Wonderful, responsive hosts! The amenities were just right, especially in the kitchen and bathroom.
Beautiful property, nice and quiet and relaxing. Use to animals so I didn't mind the horses or chickens or geese. Nice pond on the property and easy to walk around if you want to. Owners very helpful and made me feel at home. Highly recommend if you're looking for quiet and comfortable.
We had a great stay for the 2 nights that we were there. It was extra nice to wake up and have some animals outside the house. Horses, Pigs, Chickens and Roosters.

Great being in the country on the edge of town. All attractions are close by. My family loved the horses, pig, chickens and quail. We will be staying here again when we see another show at Gruene Hall.
We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were nice and the property was very relaxing. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. The location was convenient to San Marcos while also being out of town. We would definitely consider returning here for future trips.
The AC was blasting which was great to walk in to in this summer heat! There was coffe, tea and ice packs there! They had snacks for all the critters so we could feed them
We were looking for a quiet place not too far from town to stay as our son participated at a track camp at Tx. State. This was the perfect place for our 3 night stay!
The other reviews I read for this place, were spot on.
It was a lovely stay and the fresh food grown on site and the animals they tend were lovely to behold when a person sees primarily concrete jungle in the city. The couple was very friendly and helpful.
The hosts were friendly and neighborly but did not intrude in our space. We loved the area and location out of the hustle and bustle of the city but was close enough to be convenient. The hosts gathered farm fresh eggs for us which was a very nice touch. We would love to stay again!
The owners were amazing! The property featured a variety of farm animals that the kids enjoys getting to feed and pet. If you’re looking for a quiet country setting close to shopping and fun you definitely need to check this place out!
We came for parents weekend at TXST. The place was clean and the beds were comfy. The animals were all friendly and we all absolutely enjoyed getting to pet them and give them treats. We even had fresh eggs from the chickens! The owners were super friendly and helpful! Would 100% book this house again!

Unique experience with the animals on the property making it that more special. Very welcoming host and it is clear they take great care in tending to their guests and to all life on their land.
Thus is such a beautiful property! Very welcoming hosts. Out in the country, but close to activities. It was so quiet, the sunset was gorgeous! Very secure and private. Accommodations were very roomy more than adequate for the two of us.
This was a great family visit that was comfortable, relaxing, and safe! We need wheelchair accessible accommodations but still want to enjoy the comforts of home. The hosts offered more assistance and support than would ever be expected! We look forward to future visits and recommending this location to family and friends.

The property was everything that was expected, and then more. The host was very friendly and showed us the animals. The place was well equipped and comfortable and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice place near San Marcos in a farm environment. The host even provided fresh eggs picked from his hens.
It was just so peaceful! My husband, my pup and I had such an amazing time. We explore this cute little farm. We enjoyed it so much here that we were hardy in town.It was exactly what we needed away from our very busy life. Host had great communication! I love their touches around the farm and our cozy place. The Christmas tree was a bonus to have. I highly recommend this little farm getaway!
From the second we arrived we were welcomed. The property is AMAZING. Not only do you have the living space in the barn but you are free to explore the property as long as you are mindful and keep the gates closed. The
Jennifer and Andrew were fantastic hosts. This was our first trip to Texas and they helped us find the best places to visit. They suggested the area where there was enormous amount of wineries and where to get the best Texas BBQ where locals go to verses where tourist go to and wait for hours. We loved the “petting zoo”. The accommodations were wonderful. The bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. We shall be back.

About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Vogel
We’re a working family who loves farm life and the simple joys that come with it. Broken Road is our little piece of peace — a place where we raise animals, tend bees, and enjoy time with family. We built our Airbnb so others could slow down, breathe in the country air, and experience the same calm we get from this land. We love meeting new people, sharing stories by the porch and welcoming guests who appreciate genuine Texas hospitality.
Why they chose this property
We chose this community because it reflects everything we value – quiet country living, strong family roots, and neighbors who look out for one another. This area is peaceful and open, with room for children to roam, animals to graze, and families to grow. It offers the best of both worlds: the calm of rural life and the convenience of being close to small towns and halfway between San Antonio and Austin. The sense of belonging here runs deep, and we are blessed to be part of a community built on hard work, kindness, and genuine Texas hospitality. It is a place where sunrises are slow, stars are bright, and life feels a little simpler — and we are grateful to share that feeling with our guests.
What makes this property unique
Broken Road isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a piece of real Texas life. What makes it special is the peace that settles in the moment you arrive, the sound of wind moving through the trees, and the feeling that time finally slows down. Guests don’t just watch farm life here — they get to be part of it.
You might be greeted by Mabel, our friendly potbelly pig who loves attention and the occasional snack. She’s the heart of the farm and often steals the show with her personality. Alongside Mabel, you’ll meet our other animals, enjoy the hum of bees from the hives, and maybe even catch a sunrise that stretches across the big Texas sky.
Each corner of the property reflects our family’s hard work and love for the land — from the handmade signs to the apots where you can sit quietly and watch the light change. It’s a place built by working hands, where every fence post and flower bed tells part of our story.
At Broken Road, guests often say they arrive as visitors but leave feeling like family. Whether you’re sitting on the porch, visiting with Mabel, or watching stars brighten the night sky, you’ll find something rare here — simple, honest peace.
