About this property
Plush Colonial Home 1km from the Beach with 5★WiFi
Artisanale Homes are our ready-to-rent holiday homes, restored and furnished with our very own artefacts and collections across the ages. We currently have 4 Artisanale homes in Goa, named after the quaint villages they are located in and all listed here on this site. Each home is unique and has its own old-world charm.
Artisanale Benaulim is our 250+ year old colonial home, located right at the village centre of Benaulim and just a 10 minute walk from the most beautiful beach on our coast.
The space
Artisanale Benaulim is idealistic many ways.
Our home in Benaulim, is very centrally located right at the village square where you a minutes walk from all the amenities including our local barber, our local bar for a quick knockout, the cab/ motorbike hiring stand, the bus stop and local fresh supplies of veggies, fish catch every morning and evening, fruits, honey, local tea stall supplying gossip, tea, samosas and the most delicious patties. We have our dear friendly and most efficient neighbour supplying one of the most delicate and arduous-to-make Goan sweets, bebinca, she is easily one the best in Goa. Our village is located between 2 beaches, and easily accessible to 4 others, all within 15 minute drive.
Artisanale Benaulim is itself, tucked away from traffic, just off the road but yet you hear no traffic or any drum of people movement. You feel far removed from reality. You wouldn't even realise a worldwide pandemic is on, once you are here. The large fresh windows, and wide balconies all face our green courtyard and unless you really tune into what's happening around you, you could easily be on some remote island just you, your family and the house.
For me, it feels wonderfully giddy to go 'home', stare up at the 20 ft ceiling with its exposed woodwork, walk through arched doorways, sit on era furniture or stretch on the verandah overlooking the paved garden. My mom being an enthusiastic cook, and spending much of her youthful and retired years in the kitchen, has, over the decades made this room the focus of the house. The kitchen is equipped with every conceivable appliance/ gadget. To name 1/3rd of them, it includes a mixer/ grinder, 450 lt fridge, microwave, toaster, washing machine, oven, barbecue set and a pot and pan for every type of dish. We provide the cutlery, crockery and required table ware for 6.
We have 2 AC bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen sized bed and is well ventilated, it overlooks a little enclosed open area. It has with a pullout bed under it big and cosy enough for a small adult, a study table and large cupboards with hangers and drawers. The other more majestic bedroom overlooks our courtyard, is large enough to fit a Tokyo size apartment, has an internet cable line and has good access to the wifi router. Again this room has large wall cupboards and a little sit out veranda.
The linen on the beds are provided, with 4 large pillows on each bed. We have 3 sets of changes of linen and towels. If you are staying on a long term, for more than 3 months, we do not provide linen. Showers in both bathrooms have hot and cold water and hand towels. We have the western style commodes. The hot water is through a solar panel, but you can face challenges here, as it is a common panel for the entire house of 4 bathrooms.
The living room cum dining area is large and overlooks a large quiet garden and the paved drive way. The garden has my dad's favorite Anthurium potted plants and his recently acquired fondness to about 12 of the available 36 varieties of the Haliconia plant.
This large colonial house has an adjacent South facing section of the house, which may be rented to other guests. 2 walls of the Large Colonial House, are shared with the South facing section of the house. Each house has their independent entrance and only shares a common walking path. All other facilities and areas are independent and exclusive for the guest booking each home.
Please go ahead and book our home and we would be happy to see you around these parts. Or if you would like to have a look at our other restored homes, visit our Airbnb profile.
