Misleading property, poor communication, additional charges and lack of working utilities

This property is a SHARED SPACE, which was not made immediately apparent by the listing. I got into Eureka late after driving all day only o discover that there were other people staying in other parts of the house. I did have a private room with a lock, but still shocking nonetheless. Then, the hot water for the shower never worked. Additionally, they were supposed to give me a private door code, but didn’t have time to, so I instead got a general door code, leading to more safety concerns as I wasn’t sure if the people already staying in the unit had the same codes as well. Upon checkout, I left at 8am, and tried to lock the door, and the key pad wouldn’t work to lock unless you manually did it from the inside. Leading to even more safety concerns.I reached out to the host several times to let them know my concerns. Initially they said they would look into a refund, and contact VRBO, but they stopped responding to me and now I have an additional charge for an extra 50 for some reason. Avoid at all costs.

I followed up with VRBO regarding Sarah’s concerns. They confirmed the listing clearly states that it’s a private bedroom with shared kitchen and living areas. The hot water is working properly; I verified it myself and confirmed with another guest. The master bath is farthest from the heater, so it takes about 30 seconds to warm up. I've added clearer instructions in the listing for adjusting the water temperature. The additional cleaning fee was due to extensive pet hair on blankets, sheets, and pillows, as well as a strong odor indicating the dog may have urinated in the room. Our listing asks that pets stay off furniture to help maintain a clean space for all guests. The door code provided was unique to the guest’s room, and we never share codes between guests for safety. While we strive to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming space for all, this guest left the room in poor condition and was not respectful of house rules.
