Best place to stay for a local wedding

Our son was getting married in Cleburne and we wanted a place large enough for my family including my parents, sister’s family, and aunt’s family. This place is ideal for gatherings and we loved the large kitchen/ living area just to kick back and chat. Everyone was able to get ready with ease. Again very comfortable, although a bit off the road. But worth it. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Martha was an absolute pleasure to work with. Communication was great throughout the entire time. She was so accommodating and hospitable for our group during our stay. House is clean and well kept. Room set ups are great - especially the dual masters with bunk rooms. Perfect for sleeping a large group. Hope to be back next year!

I’m not sure where to start… I was in town for a celebration of life. Waiting for the checkin information, she was late sending it. Very unusual for VRBO hosts. Then shortly after I arrive at the property, I get a text from her telling me that she will have people “touring” the property over the weekend. Ummmmm, I’m sorry, what?? I’m hear with my small children, not cool. The house states it was two king bed suites (false). The house has one king bed and the other room has a king headboard with a queen mattress. The beds in this property were stiff as a board. So hard that I literally checked to make sure it wasn’t a box spring I was sleeping on. Sheets were stained, as were the towels. The house was FILTHY. When I say FILTHY, I mean it. It smelled like vomit and fried food. There were splatters all over the walls, baseboard and furniture. Some of the rooms had large holes in the walls or sliced up drywall. Missing baseboards throughout. The doors were broken as if someone punched them. Everything was broken. The fridge and freezer had broken handles. Dishes were dirty in the cabinets. Pots and pans were falling apart. It lists the kitchen as fully loaded, could be further from the truth. The cabinet had old used fry oil in them, expired food and empty salt shakers. It was a very cold weekend (15 degrees at night). The heater could not keep the house warm. The water heater also could not produce enough hot water. This house felt like a neglected college dorm. Too trashy!

Open spaces, lots of room, and lots of opportunities for improvement

Please read the whole review: The Good - Lots of space around the kitchen/living room/dining room. Four full bathrooms, as advertised, is a must with this many people as we had staying there (25), some good space around the house for getting outdoors (loved the firepit), tons of toys available for kids. The toys were a huge hit, and was significant bonus for those traveling from far away with small children. At our request, the host was kind enough to allow us to enter the home earlier than the advertised start time. The Bad - There wasn’t a pack n play available as the listing explicitly said there would be. After reaching out to the host we learned it had been broken for an unspecified amount of time. But worse than the lack of advertised sleeping arrangements is the fact that not all of the beds were clean. Several sheets had obvious dirt and even a streak of mud on them under the top sheet. When we discovered this we immediately stripped all the beds and washed the sheets ourselves. (Unfortunately, the host balked when we requested a refund of the cleaning fee.) We also didn’t receive instructions on how to enter the home until an hour after our arrival.
