Terrific stay

Our unit was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. It was comfortable and central to everything. The staff was awesome and super friendly. Loved the pool, the beach and and easily accessible transportation.

A great place to stay

The Westin is centrally located, has multiple activities and shops for water gear, basic food, and cute clothes/home goods. While the rooms are not luxury, they are well stocked and the beds are clean and comfortable. I spent hardly any time at the pool or the beach at the Westin, but used it as a very convenient launching pad for beach trips, hikes, and nights out around the island. I highly recommend - - especially for first timer St John visitors who would not want to rent a house in a location that is less easy/desireable. We will go back for these reasons.

Perfect Family Vacation

The pictures truly do not do this place justice. The unit was much larger than we expected. The kitchen was well equipped, the dining table is huge and comfortable. There are two true master bedrooms which awesome because we went with two families. The Westin resort is beautiful, all the staff there were friendly and happy. My kids loved the golf cart rides! The pool was clean and there were plenty of chairs for everyone. There were beautiful sunsets every night! Snorkels restaurant was awesome for lunch and dinner in the sand. There are so many delicious restaurants on the island with amazing views! The Windmill, Lime-in, Beach Bar, The Rum Hut, really just an all around great place! Would highly recommend bug spray for the “noseeums” they were bad at dusk but once you spray they go away!

St John is pretty, so much National Park. There isn't a huge population...think "well, there's only really one primary grocery store, but there are convenience stores around." The onsite car rental is nice (reserve well ahead of your trip), and having a car is really required for exploring the rest of the island. If you only want to go into town to eat, drink, and shop, a taxi is easy and fine. There are three tiers of buildings here: the beachfront/poolside, a bit of a hike up the hill, and way up the hill across the street. Ground floor rooms basically have no view due to buildings and vegetation obstructions. Some buildings are better than others, some have been redone more recently. The older ones could use some work...missing trim, fancy appliance...that isn't quite fully attached to the wall, no baseboard under cabinets, which a cockroach took advantage of one day. We did not get the advertised room layout, the one we were assigned during check in was an accessible unit that didn't have a bathtub we planned on using with our little one. They were at capacity and couldn't give us a different room. However, after the cockroach photo, they did find us the advertised room type in the same building so we moved. The main restaurant was relatively expensive, the food was ok, the service wasn't great, and again worn materials, flickering lights, and similar made it feel not worth the value. We didn't go back. The poolside and beach food option was as expected.
