Cutest home, fully stocked. It was extremely clean and the hostess was very easy to get a hold of. Anything we needed was provided for. Great home to have family and to stay warm in the snow. Safe neighborhood with plenty of restaurants to keep us occupied. Will definitely be back
Absolutely beautiful house. Carl, Lori and Lesley have invested so much time and effort to have absolutely everything available to remove any hassle. The location is perfect….quiet but close to all that you need which makes it ideal. My only negative…..I only had 2 days!!!I only wish I had more time there.
My college girlfriends and I stayed here for a weekend get-together, and had a blast catching up on the porch and making pancakes. Carl was responsive, informative, and kind all throughout our trip, and we felt like we were staying at a friend's charming home. It's the perfect location to visit nearby wineries or breweries, or walk to a restaurant in town. Thanks for letting us spend our weekend here!
Quaint well appointed home for weekend stay to enjoy season
Older but well appointed with character. In summer heat, the a/c doesn’t cool the upstairs well enough(even with ceiling fans running) host was very accommodating

Thank you Greg for your review. I apologize for the AC as I should have had the vents closed down on the main level so the cold air would better reach the bedrooms. I hope we get a chance in the future to have you back. Until then travel well
We stayed at this house because we were attending a dance competition for a week at Shakopee High School. The house was so peaceful and quiet...just what we needed. We cooked most meals at the house and did some laundry as well. The amenities were amazing and Carl was extremely easy to work with. We will book this gem again!

Thank you so much Mikala. It was our pleasure to be your hosts and we will look forward to your next visit.
My friends and I planned to go to the Ren Fest for the 3 day weekend over labor day and wanted to find a place to stay that was close by. Immediately when we walked in we fell in love with the property. It was super cozy and had plenty of room. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. It was only 6 minutes from the Ren Fest grounds, which was absolutely perfect. We had a great time and will definitely plan on coming back next year!

About the host
Hosted by Carl Spalding
I was my good fortune to be born in Chaska and have lived in the area for 41 of my 59 years. I enjoy the community and closeness to family as well as the rural country surroundings and the access to greater Minnesota. My roots were established before I even new they existed as my mother is one of 9 children. We are still a large and close family and I feel I was lucky to have them as both my role models and my support system. My wife Lori and I have 4 dogs! We only wanted one, Eli, (in the picture) but he was lonely as an only child so we invited Jack into the family. It has been our great fortune to adopt Mollie and Luke as others from our extended family could no longer care for them. So this is us. I have owned and managed 8 Single Family homes that I have rented for more than 20 years. I have enjoyed working to make each, a positive addition to their neighborhoods, while maintaining good community resources for those who have trusted me as their landlord. Lori is a social worker for Carver County and also came from a family of 9. She grew up as part of the Chaska farming community, on the dairy farm worked and owned by her father, mother, brothers and sisters. The family waters run deep with all of the in-laws, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and all of the accompanying friends and attachments.
Why they chose this property
We decided to convert this property into a short-term rental when we recognized the need for quality local housing for visiting family and friends. The house was one of the 1st houses we'd purchased. Just after getting married we fell in love with its charm and its turn of the century design. When we looked at our houses this seemed to be the best fit for the new adventure. It has a warm, friendly, uncluttered design with a great deal of character. As we guessed, many of our guests are those here to visit their family in the area or to attend functions such as weddings. We also see vacationers here for events such as the Renaissance Festival which is only a few miles away.
What makes this property unique
Only a block from the Minnesota River with all of the adjacent trails, paths, parks and wildlife, our house is also only blocks from downtown with restaurants, stores parks and a bike shop, to just begin the list. Chaska has venues such as the Curling Center, the Crooked Pint, and the Lions Park. The greater area boasts the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Carver Park and the Lowery Nature Center. Lake Minnetonka, Lake Waconia and many other smaller lakes in the area are also just a short drive away. We feel the house is charming, the location is perfect and the area has so much to offer!
