About this property

Pedernales River Retreat - Guadalupe Cabin

GUADALUPE CABIN:

Nestled along the shores of the Pedernales River in Stonewall, Texas is a little 10-acre farm we call Salt Branch Horse Farm. Today, there aren’t any horses, but my dream is to eventually fence the land and bring in rescue horses to make them healthy again.
The property features a rustic German, dog-run style, duplex cabin that was built in 2017. The construction is fantastic. German sturdy! The cabin on the west side, which is called Guadalupe, is a short-term rental property. The cabin on the east side, which is called Pedernales, is where I live most of the time. Between each cabin is a large breezeway with a huge TV, a bourbon and wine bar, a comfortable couch, a recliner, an ice-maker and a combination washer/dryer for small loads.
The back porch is about 50 feet long and 8 feet wide and has a picnic table, rocking chairs and a stationary bike for exercise. This is a fisherman’s dream with over 2,500 feet of Pedernales Riverfront. The river, when the water is flowing, has catfish, bass perch and rainbow trout when Texas Parks and Wildlife stocks
them. Bring your own fishing pole, fly rod and waders. You can also fish from shore.
Each cabin has a two queen beds, a couch, a kitchenette, a television, a spacious restroom, a shower, a wash-tub and a wardrobe for hanging clothes.
The property has hundreds of axis deer, whitetail, turkey, quail, coyotes, porcupine and foxes. You are welcome to fish the property, but hunting is not permitted for liability reasons. There’s also an occasional skunk so be careful. There are rattlesnakes and cottonmouths, and water moccasins by the river. The greatest feature of the place is privacy. We are surrounded by enormous ranches and Lyndon Baines Johnson State and Federal Parkland. Just a few hundred feet down Ranch Road 1, you’ll find Lyndon’s Longhorns, a herd of bison and dozens of Black Buck Antelope, which are
beautiful in their winter tuxedos. If you are a walker, biker or runner, there is no better road to tour in Texas than Ranch Road 1. Lyndon knew what he was doing when he built the ranch. By the river, underneath one of the largest bald cypress trees you’ve ever seen is a picnic table that seats six. Bring a picnic lunch and a cooler. The temperature below that cypress tree is 20 degrees lower than anywhere else.
