We could not have had a better stay , The place was beautiful and my guest were amazed at the location. We had no issues with anything . The Host was more that accommodating . We are already talking about the next stay . Brenda thank you for sharing your beautiful property !
Yearly we plan a trip for our adult children, grand children and my parents. We stay someplace new each year. This years trip was to Fort Smith. We chose the lodge property for the views and the the quiet atmosphere. We were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed our time at this property.
Hilltop Lodge was the perfect place for our family Christmas retreat. Comfy bedrooms with adjacent baths, lots of cozy nooks for reading and chatting (we tried them all!), and all the river ridge views. Loved the fun and festive decor and preparing meals in the awesome kitchen. Couldn't have asked for a better location.
We came in town for a wedding, and this place had so many great things to list. All rooms are ensuites, spacious comfy beds. Fully stocked kitchen. The outdoor space was so relaxing with many places to hang out. We walked to the river. Wish we could have stayed a few more days to enjoy more this property has to offer.
Our family will forever cherish the memories made at this house. The space provided and the nature to obsesse over simply made our trip one that has even impacted our thoughts to moving the surrounding area. Thank you for providing such a wonderful home to my family.
Wonderful location out in the woods! The kitchen had all the dishes we needed to do our cooking, and there were plenty of towels available. The host/hostess was very responsive to my questions, and provided me the door key as soon as I requested it. The inside is very well decorated and taken care of. We really enjoyed having the pool table and long kitchen table for family interaction. Note that aside from outdoors and the kitchen table, there is not really a place for everyone to gather around a TV (can fit about ~4-5 adults in front of the TV) -- this was not a problem for our party, but its something you may need to keep in mind. Our only complaint was the lack of wash clothes, but that was a very minor thing. We had a wonderful time!
Things we liked:
The house was very clean.
The kitchen was well stocked and met all our needs.
The dining table easily seated our 7 adults.
The bedrooms with en suite bathrooms were really nice.
The fire pit area behind the house was a favorite.
The view from the back yard was better than expected.
Things that could have been better:
If anyone in your group has mobility issues, be aware that there are several (5) sets of stairs. Three sets only have 3 steps, and all have handrails. The path to the river includes a very steep descent for about 50 yards.
The living area with the main tv only had enough room for a sofa and a chair. Our group of 7 could not congregate in the space provided.
The wireless appeared to be Hughes Satellite, and the lack of speed caused a lot of buffering when watching tv.
Communication with Brenda, the owner, could have been better. Using the VRBO messaging system, I contacted her to inquire about the hot tub that was listed for the property. She said that was a mistake and the hot tub was at the cabin, not the house. The hot tub had been the deciding factor in which house we would rent.
I contacted her on the day of our arrival when we were about 15 miles away from the house to let her know of our arrival. We received no instructions on how to get into the house, and, after arriving, had to text her to get the key code. On the plus side, Brenda responded quickly to solve a lighting/breaker issue.
