Villa Castillo was exactly what we expected! If you are looking for a super modern, luxury American style home you might look elsewhere but if you want a unique property with plenty of en suite bedrooms (with cold A/C), beautiful marble and heavy wood decor, a fabulous large pool, tropical backyard and in a great location, then you will love this property! Yes, the home does show some signs of age but we saw character and authenticity. The property, pool and yard are maintained on a daily basis by a lovely couple, Pedro & Mercedes, who live in an unseen apartment in the building. We only saw them in the morning unless we needed something. We had 2 chefs who came in 2x day for brunch and dinner. The service (arranged by our hosts) was fantastic. The food was delicious, the chefs were super friendly and did a beautiful job with the prep, serving and clean-up. Expensive but worth every penny for our group of 9 adults! There is a convenience store right around the block (4 minute walk) that was perfect for ice, snacks, drinks, etc… Hiring an Uber was easy and cheap for trips to the beach or mall. Our hosts were excellent. Rodolfo, Hector and Felipe all worked with us on different occasions and I truly can’t say enough about their professionalism and communication skills. We were met at the house by Felipe and he made sure our check-in went smoothly and then he came by as we were leaving providing stellar customer service! We will definitely use Solmar for our travel needs. A
