About this property
Cabin on Sunset Lake W/Boathouse Separate Bunkhouse Rental PET FRIENDLY
Get away from it all at this quaint log cabin on the beautiful Sunset Lake in Benson VT.
MAIN CABIN AVAILABLE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS
*******************************************************************************
THE SPACE
This is truly an escape from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Two true log cabins set on 2.5 acres of land sitting directly on one of the most serene lakes in Vermont.
Sit back, kick up your feet and enjoy your morning coffee as the sun makes its grand entrance cresting languidly over the lake or a glass of wine as the sun melts like molten gold into the lake. Most assuredly a transcendent experience as you take in the vast expanse of the lake with the elevated tree ridge as a backdrop, a view that is simply unparalleled (but we are biased).
The lake is stocked with trout and you can go fishing during the warmer months. Have your pick: this lake allows for both motorized and non motorized boating on the lake. The water is clean and clear; you can go swimming in water so clear you can see your toes. Truly a place to unwind from it all.
Tucked away on Lake Sunset, off of a private road, this place, which boasts 2 cabins (BUNKHOUSE IS A SEPARATE RENTAL FEE) and Impressive boathouse, is the perfect get away from life's hustle and bustle.
Unassuming from the outside, when you get into the cabins you are transported back to a simpler place in time in a rustic setting with all of the modern comforts (sans a TV-in keeping with the theme).
The Bunkhouse, which can be rented separately for $75 per night if you need it, has 4 twin-sized bunk beds where you can tuck away the kids while you hang out in the main cabin.
The main cabin has 2 bedrooms with full and queen sized beds.
Both cabins are self contained with kitchen, full bath (main cabin) and a toilet and shower stall in the bunk house, wood stove in the bunk house and large fireplace in the main cabin. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD OR we can have cords of firewood delivered to the cabin for you at your cost
The price includes rental of the main cabin. For an additional $75 PER NIGHT you can also rent the bunk house.
We have a propane grill. We DO NOT SUPPLY THE PROPANE. We put a canister in at the start of the season and when it’s done that’s it. Guests would need to provide their own. We do have a home made wheel grill that can be used outside in the yard.
Available to answer questions as needed.
Close to Outlet shopping, including Manchester Outlet Shops
Try Taconic Ramble State Park for sledding; snow shoeing and gorgeous winter views
10 mins from Shale Hill Adventure Farm-World's Best Obstacle Course race and training facility (10k permanent obstacle course).
APPLE PICKING: 20 minutes at CHAMPLAIN ORCHIDS in Shoreham VT
Best restaurants: Fair Haven Inn 5 Adams Street; Ask for Suzie; The Wheel Inn (just 10 mins away-ask for Cat she's amazing); or Cattails Restaurant which is about half hour away (get the Captain's Platter if you like seafood).
You will need your own car to move around. Amtrak Train Station is about 20 mins away.
Wifi is available in the main cabin. You can also get wifi in the bunkhouse but it' spotty. Cell phone service is also spotty.
Available now to rent during the winter (we have installed a heating system in the main cabin). Bunkhouse would not be available during the winter. It’s not winterized.
NOTE: We have well water which is filtered and potable. However you may want to bring drinking water if you wish because there is sulfur in the water.
**Some of our guests have spotted 2 rabbits on the premises please be on the lookout for them and treat them with care if you see them
PETS-WE LOVE PETS. WE DO COLLECT A REFUNDABLE $300 SECURITY DEPOSIT if you bring your pets. This is returned at the end of your stay if your furry friends have been on their best behavior and have caused no damage. MUST DISCLOSURE IF YOU ARE BRINGING PETS
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
If you plan on using the fireplace in main cabin, pick up some wood at Aubushon"s in town-ask for Donna. You must make sure to open the damper by pulling on the string (until it’s slack) or the cabin will fill with smoke.
BOATHOUSE: The back of the boathouse is the side closest to the lake. The keys provided for the boathouse DO NOT work on the lock that’s attached to that door. The keys for the boathouse will open the front of the boathouse (the door as you are approaching the boathouse). You will need to take the canoe/Kayaks out via that front door. The terrain by the back door closest to the lake is uneven and not easy to navigate hence why that door is kept locked.
