About this property
Romantic getaway w/outdoor soaking tub
Summary:
Located in scenic, rural Cosby, TN in a secluded wooded setting, 12 mins from one of the Smokies National Park entrances. Cozy & large 1 BR to kick up your feet and relax after a long day of sight seeing in the Smokies and experiencing nature. Wood cabin interior and a comfortable King Size bed will leave you rested & relaxed! Our location makes it easy for day trips to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg, & even Asheville! A charcoal grill & fire pit are available to enjoy!
The Space:
Quail Roost 2 is one of two units in the building (contact us if you'd like to rent both sides for even more room!) Think of our place as a boutique hotel (each side with a large master bedroom/ensuite bathroom) + its own kitchen, living room, and washer & dryer!
The overall interior feel of "Quail Roost 2" is that of being inside a cozy pine wood cabin with a vaulted ceiling. You get that cabin in the woods feeling in a more intimate setting than renting a large multi-bedroomed cabin and at a fraction of the price!
LIVING ROOM:
The living room is roomy with a high ceiling that includes a sofa w/pull out bed, coffee table, side tables, chair, and TV w/Roku. We specifically chose a large coffee table to gather around and play games or put puzzles together, etc! There is a ceiling fan and the air/heat ductless unit is located in this room. Linens for the sleeper-sofa are provided!
KITCHEN:
The kitchen is open to the living room and is small but mighty! We provide pretty much everything you need to cook and a coffee/hot chocolate bar (check the amenity list!)
BEDROOM:
The main bedroom is extremely roomy (the space feels like the size of a master bedroom in a much larger cabin) with a high vaulted ceiling and a King bed w/comfy mattress and 4 pillows. You'll have plenty of room to plug in your devices with 2 nightstands and lights! There is also another ceiling fan located in this room. We also provide a box fan for those extra warm nights, and a radiant heater for those extra cool nights. Fresh linens are provided.
BATHROOM:
The bathroom includes a tub/shower combo (shampoo, conditioner, body wash provided + fluffy towels), sink & vanity, toilet, and washing machine & dryer! (detergent provided).
OUTSIDE AREAS:
The main outdoor recreation area is a good sized private lot at the front of the house (we own the lot but have not built upon it to give our guests room to enjoy being surrounded by nature). It is a very useable outdoor space, cleared but surrounded by trees for privacy. The property is secluded amongst the woods on a bluff near the top of a hill hidden from sight from our rural neighbors. Enjoy the fire pit, charcoal grill (wood/charcoal is not provided), and outdoor eating area! Most of all, enjoy the starry nights... it's a pretty dark sky in this area so enjoy!
The backyard is off limits as it is small, sloped, and contains the septic field.
Guest Access:
As our guest you will have access to the whole unit (1/2 duplex) which is laid out as a 1 bedroom, 1 bath + sofa bed space. The unit is accessed via a digital lock programmed just for you!
The Neighborhood:
The neighborhood is very rural. Our property sits on a bluff near the top of a hill in the woods and has a creek view (when the leaves are off). The location is private, secluded and beautiful. We can't see any of our neighbors from our lot. At the bottom of the hill is a peaceful creek and a lot of beautiful trees :)
Getting Around:
Parking is readily available but you'll need a car to explore this area! There is no mass transit.
Other Things to Note:
The house is located on a hill and has a relatively steep/unpaved gravel driveway. It is easily accessible by any two-wheel drive car (and delivery trucks go down it all the time) but in winter weather, chains or 4WD might be needed. In adverse weather if guests don't feel comfortable going down the driveway, they can park at the top of the street and walk down. PLEASE take some time to read the HOUSE RULES regarding pets, visitors, etc in the "rules & policies" section!
This is a perfect place to stay if you're looking for a less touristy, more rural Great Smoky Mountains experience. It's a romantic hideaway for two, a cozy retreat for four and a perfect base for hiking and exploring the backroads. Cosby Campground is one of the least busy entrances to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, less than a 15 min drive away and some great hikes can be found here. Mt Cammerer (one of the more iconic summits on the Appalachian Trail via the Low GapTrail) and Hen Wallow Falls are two of our favorites along with a 1.2 mile really well done nature trail perfect for all ages/fitness levels. There are some good local and cheap places to eat nearby that are off the beaten tourist path (we are happy to provide our tried and tested recommendations :) and you won't have the larger chain commercial tourist feel of a bigger town like Gatlinburg (but you're only 20 or so miles away from there). The town of Newport, TN is close by along with Walmart and other bigger stores so it's convenient for everything you'd need for vacation supplies.
Interaction with Guests:
Very responsive via the airbnb messenger and by phone!
