About this property

Modern Apartment in downtown historic building

Enjoy thoughtful design and easy access to everything in this centrally-located downtown Mt. Vernon apartment next to the public square. Experience everything the town has to offer: the next door cafe terrace, the public square park that hosts summer events, farmers markets, numerous restaurants, coffee houses, hip breweries and a co-working space all within walking distance. Only 5-10 minutes to Knox Community Hospital, Kenyon College and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.

The space
The apartment is a 2 bedroom - one bedroom features a full bed, desk and closet. The second bedroom is very small and features a twin bed and closet. The apartment is designer friendly, with wonderful natural light and lots of plants and beautiful decor.

With its turn of the century charm, The McKinley Building has graced the backside of Mt. Vernon's town square for over a century! By staying in our historic apartment suite, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Mt. Vernon, greater Knox County and central Ohio while supporting the ongoing renovation of this ~150 year old building by a local family who has had roots in the area since the early 1900s.

The apartment is on the third floor of a 3 story, very old building. Please note there are only stairs to access the apartment, so be prepared for a little exercise (you can skip the gym after staying a few days here:))

There are 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, patio, dining room/living room, as well as access to a shared laundry room and small gym (opening in the summer of 2023) in the basement. The main bedroom is large and fits a desk and full sized bed, and the second bedroom is very small and fits a twin sized bed.

Why they chose this property

With its turn of the century charm, The McKinley Building (the building that is home to the apartment) has graced the backside of Mt. Vernon's town square for over a century! By staying in our apartment suite, you are helping support the ongoing renovation of this ~150 year old building by a local family who has had roots in the area since the early 1900s. This is as local as it gets! We are a small locally-owned family business and love to share the wonders of our town with you. We always try to leave locally made treats for guests (such as Amish baked pies or pumpkin butter!).

What makes this property unique

This apartment is decorated and revamped by a professional designer and architect with too many special touches to list. Natural materials, Italian designer furniture pieces, vibrant plants (yes, they are real!), beautiful lighting and decor. You will feel right at home while still enjoying the tranquility and fine design.
