The Neighborhood:

Getting Around:
Our house is in a quiet Matteson neighborhood and is a great spot whether you’re visiting family, heading into the city, or just relaxing nearby. Here’s how to get around:
Driving
Downtown Chicago: about 30–45 minutes by car without heavy traffic (30–60+ minutes during rush hour). Take I‑57 North to I‑294/I‑80 depending on traffic, or take I‑57 to I‑94 via I‑294 for a direct route into the city.
Nearby suburbs & attractions: Tinley Park, Homewood, and University Park are all within a 10–20 minute drive. Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields are also nearby.
Parking: Street parking in our neighborhood is free and usually easy. We have driveway space for up to 6 cars — please park there when possible. If you need more space, on-street parking is allowed; just avoid blocking sidewalks or driveways.
Public transit
Metra: The nearest Metra Electric line station is the Matteson Station (on Front Street/near Lincoln Hwy) — about a 5–10 minute drive or 20–30 minute bike/ride away depending on exact location. From there, trains run north into Millennium Station in downtown Chicago; typical commute time is approximately 45–60 minutes.
Pace buses: There are Pace bus routes that serve Matteson and connect to nearby Metra stations and shopping centers. Check the Pace schedule for exact stops and times.
CTA: Direct CTA service into the neighborhood is limited; most guests transfer from Metra or use rideshares to reach CTA lines in the city.
Rideshare & taxis
Uber and Lyft operate in Matteson—pickups and drop-offs are easy in front of the house. Typical ride to downtown Chicago costs more than public transit but is convenient for late-night travel or when you have luggage.
Local taxi services are available but less common; rideshare is usually faster.
Grocery & essentials
Grocery stores nearby include Jewel-Osco (within 5–10 minutes by car), Walmart Supercenter (10–15 min), and local convenience stores for quick items.
Pharmacies: CVS and Walgreens locations are a short drive away.
If you prefer delivery, most national grocery and delivery providers service this area.
Airport travel
Chicago Midway (MDW): roughly 25–40 minutes by car depending on traffic.
O’Hare (ORD): roughly 50–75 minutes by car depending on traffic. Metra + CTA or rideshare options are available for airport transfers.
Local tips
Rush hour can add significantly to travel times (mornings and late afternoons). Allow extra time for trips into the city.
If you're commuting into downtown for events, consider the Metra from Matteson Station—it's often more predictable than driving.
If you’re returning late, rideshare is the easiest way home; we recommend saving the app on your phone before you arrive.

We were in town for a softball tournament. The house was great for our group. Nice yard and stocked with all of the basics we could need. The host was extremely responsive.
The home was beautiful and the location was perfect for our stay. We ran into one snag with our experience and the owners were very responsive and accommodating. Thanks for helping make our trip to Chicago a great one.
We were a group in town for a local expo, and this place was the ideal landing pad for all of us! Such a cozy place with everything we could need. The fire pit in the back was great for s'mores, and there was even a little themed Bluetooth speaker for the living room. The owner was communicative, kind, and accommodating. Thanks for the lovely stay; we'll definitely be back next time we're in town!
Met family in Chicago to all gather for Thanksgiving. House was well equipped to cook a large meal. Bedrooms were comfy and house was very clean. Would definitely stay here again.
Visited area with my family to attend family reunion celebrations. Had an amazing time in this home that accommodated my family of nine. Location met all of our needs and we look forward to staying there again next year.

Hi Linda! So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you all next year!!
Was a very nice house, well kept and stocked on sheets and towels. Very quiet and relaxing after a day out in the city. Fire pit, creek and the sound of nature filling your ears what more could you ask for. 10/10 for me would definitely stay here or any of Aarons properties again.
Super cute, comfortable home. Tons of space, very quiet and well equipped! Super comfy beds. Aaron, the property manager, is absolutely spectacular… super helpful, VERY accommodating! If he had properties in other places, I would intentionally seek them out because of his communication and professionalism.

Thank you Danielle! Come back and see us sometime and thank you for taking great care of us as well!
From top to bottom, from listing to customer service Aaron is someone I would 110% recommend for anyone. The house was beautiful, in a great area, and looks better in person than in the pictures! 10/10 overall experience! Can’t speak on it enough.

Trip To Visit Family
The pictures and reviews are misleading. It was not as advertised.
When we first entered the place, the thermostat read 85. In the summer? Really? It was nearly 100 degrees outside the day we checked in. It took hours to cool the house down. According to the host, the housekeeper was there just hours before we arrived. Why wouldn’t they turn on the A/C?
The house reaked of plug in air freshener. The scent was so strong, we had to unplug them.
The other things we found were:
-The carpet on the stairs was old and worn through.
-In the kitchen, the dinner plates were old and chipped. The utensils looked dirty and some of the cabinets shelves had not been cleaned. There were dishes in the dishwasher. Hard to tell how long they’d been there.
-The bath towels were old and brownish in color. I believe they had been washed but not very well. They looked more like dish rags.
-The staircase rails badly needed painting and there were water stains on the ceilings and walls.
-The next morning we realized those plug-ins we removed were masking the smell of mold in a few areas of the house.
-The patio window leading to the deck was old and heavily stained from direct sunlight over the years—so badly that you could not see through them.
-The deck needed repair and new paint. The firepit area wasn’t in good shape.
-The house during our stay was cold on the lower level and warm on the main floor.

Hi Reginald, very sorry to hear about your stay. I would like to say we responded immediately to come over and fix the AC but you asked us not to come. We did learn after your stay that it was an easy fix. Nonetheless, we want everyone to have the best experience so we have invested heavily since your stay. I agree that we shouldn't be using plugin air freshners so we've instructed our cleaners to not anymore. You did visit during the rainiest season of the year and very common for basements to get humid. We've installed dehumidifiers to be sure this is no longer an issue. We've painted the deck again and upgraded our firepit area along with many other upgrades. Thank you for the feedback and apologies again that your stay was not what you expected.
