Like any tropical location bugs are common. We do have routine environmentally friendly pest control inside and out every 3 months, but bugs will occasionally still make an appearance inside the unit. Uninvited pests often seen on the Big Island include, but are not limited to, ants, cockroaches, mosquitoes, centipedes (don’t touch them), moths, spiders, and Geckos. Geckos are good, natural pest control and you may see them from time to time in the unit on the wall. Please help us keep pests under control by storing all food in sealed containers in the refrigerator. Do not leave any food out on the counter or in cupboards. Dirty dishes should be rinsed and put in the dishwasher after use, counters wiped, and garbage disposed of often. This will make everyone’s stay more enjoyable.
***Please note that this property is not equipped with air conditioning. It does, however, feature excellent ventilation with floor-to-ceiling Jalousie windows in the front of the unit, 8' sliders to the Lanai with ceiling fans throughout, which creates a comfortable space with plenty of air flow.***

About the host
Hosted by Linda & Hugh Maffett
Aloha, welcome to our Hale in Keauhou. A little bit about us. We have been married for 20 years. Hugh was born and raised in Boise, Idaho and Linda is originally from Vancouver, BC Canada. We have both lived in the Pacific Northwest our entire adults lives, with multiple trips to the Hawaiian Islands through the years. Although we both appreciate the changing seasons of Washington State we do like to get away from the cool wet winters and spend a little time in Hawaii. We fell in love with the Big Island and knew at some point we had to have a place of our own. Hugh is a retired Tug Boat Captain and Linda is a Registered Nurse working in the field of Hospice care. We have a teenage son who will be starting college in the fall of 2023.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the peaceful area of Keauhou, with many trips to Keauhou Bay to enjoy the magical Manta Ray Night Snorkel. Keauhou is just a short drive from the fun action of Kona town with plenty of beaches to visit along the way. When we found this lovely town home we knew it was the right one for us as we appreciated not having other tenants above or below us, the bi-level was appealing as well as the two spacious Lanai's.
