This cozy log cabin has been completely redesigned for a fun and relaxing mountain getaway. Nestled in the back of a quiet neighborhood, this 3 Bedroom 3 Bath house has everything you need to explore. It’s just minutes from downtown Sylva, Western Carolina University and the Tuckaseegee River, and a close drive to hiking and multiple waterfalls.

LIVING AREA AND KITCHEN:
Upstairs you’ll enter to a spacious and open living room and kitchen. Stash your gear in the entry drop-zone, with hooks and shelves for everything. You can relax in the living room in front of the easy-to-use gas fireplace, play games at the coffee table or take in a movie on the flat screen TV. The kitchen comes equipped with everything you need to make a delicious home-cooked meal. Toaster, coffee maker, hand mixer, complete set of pots and pans and a great set of cooking knives. In addition to our regular dishes, we provide plastic kid friendly plates and bowls.

BEDROOMS:
Head down the hall to one of the 3 bedrooms. Each bedroom comes with comfortable beds, linens, nightstands, reading lights, closets and luggage racks. One bedroom has a King-sized bed, one a Queen-sized bed, and one is furnished with bunk beds. The bunk beds are a Twin XL over a Queen with a Twin XL trundle…perfect for adults or kids.

BATHROOMS:
There are three bathrooms. Between the bunk bed and queen room, the Jack n’ Jill bathroom has a tub/shower combo and a double vanity. The second upstairs bathroom has a door to the King bedroom as well as access from the hall. It has a large tile shower with glass door, and plenty of room in the vanity to store all of your toiletries. There is also a full bathroom in the basement with another shower.

OUTDOORS:
Sip your morning coffee outside on the spacious front porch in rocking chairs with views of the distant mountains and end your day nestled in amongst the trees with a glass of wine or a local brew at the outdoor seating area, complete with Adirondack chairs. There’s plenty of room for parking on the parking pad and driveway, and a level 2 vehicle charger (J1772 connector) is available.

BASEMENT:
There’s room for everyone with an upstairs and downstairs living area. The finished basement has a sectional couch, bean bags chairs, tons of games with a large table to play, and a full-sized arcade-style Skee-Ball! There’s also a washer, dryer and laundry sink, and a flex-room with a desk for a private spot to take meetings or get work done.

THE AREA:
Balsam + Ivy is located in Sylva, a cute mountain town with a great downtown area complete with shops, restaurants and multiple breweries. The cabin is also close to Dillsboro, which has another quaint downtown area. It’s a 30 minute drive to Waynesville, Cashiers and Bryson City-other fantastic towns to explore. Western Carolina University is less than a 10 minute drive away. The Tuckaseegee river runs along the entrance to the neighborhood. You can tube or raft on the river-check out Dillsboro Rafting for a great experience, or try out some of the best fly-fishing in the Southeast. There’s an abundance of hiking in the area-from long-range views to gorgeous waterfalls.

The perfect rental for our family!
Balsam and Ivy was the perfect place for our families week long stay in the mountains! We loved the beautiful pastoral setting, driving to and from the house watching the bubbling rapids and fly fishermen in the Tuckeseegee River was beautiful! The house had everything we needed and we all really enjoyed the skeeball machine and board games! The EV charger was a wonderful perk allowing us to wake up charged and ready every day! The setting felt so remote at the end of road but the grocery store, restaurants, and Starbucks were all just minutes away! We had a wonderful week exploring the area from Highlands/Cashiers to Maggie Valley and Cherokee. The house was central and convenient to the whole region! We hiked several trails and saw several waterfalls but I think our favorite was the Alpaca farm tour! We can't wait to go back in the summer to do some rafting/tubing and explore even more! The hosts Dave and Em were great with a helpful guide of recommendations and easy check in/check out processes! Five stars for sure!!

Beautiful Cabin
The cabin was very clean, modern and family friendly. Lots of hangout spots. The kitchen was well supplied (maybe needs a muffin tin) The fireplace and generous supply of warm blankets were a hit. As was the skeeball game. Our family really enjoyed our stay.

Balsam + Ivy was an INCREDIBLE place to stay. The location, size and fully stocked kitchen were impressive. The drive up to the house is beautiful, but once there, the accommodations do not disappoint. We only used two of the beds and pillows which were very comfortable. When you open the door, you are greeted by wood ceilings and glories and the Les there sofas saw so cozy bathe gas burning fireplace surely take the cozy cabin feel up a notch or two and the open floor plan really make the house feel spacious. We cooked breakfast every morning and had plenty of room to eat at the table. The kitchen has a really nice set of knives and plenty of kitchenware. No bathrooms are stocked with sun dried and thick plush towels. No doubt, the highlight for us was playing Skee Ball. What a way to bring a little competition into your vacation. The managers, Dave and Emily have a done a fantastic job summarizing local hikes and areas of interest that are listed in a book they have left for parusal. You cannot go wrong staying in this house. We are already planning our next trip in a few months.
