We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The property was spotless, beautifully maintained, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing trip. The location was fantastic, parking was convenient, and the host was wonderfully responsive and welcoming from start to finish. The house exceeded our expectations. We were in town for a wedding and the number of extra bathrooms make getting ready for the event flawless. We would love to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

The house is beautiful and very clean.! We had plenty of space. The game room was the cherry on top! We didn’t really get a chance to use it though.The kitchen was well equipped. Bathrooms had plenty of towels. Area and neighborhood was very nice.

We really enjoyed the property, especially the basement game room where we held family competitions in foosball and ping pong. Also, the kitchen was very well appointed and met our needs perfectly.

Adventureland trip

Great Iowa Stay

Great accommodations for a family get away. The house was clean and ready upon arrival. Snacks and cool temp on a hot day made for a nice arrival. Location made it easy to find and easy to explore Des Moines. The house made it easy to enjoy family time which can be tough with two teens. Thanks for helping us make some great family memories.

Summer stay July 2024

We had 9 of us stay at this VRBO. The rooms were great and there was plenty of space for us all. We were able to stay for 5 days and found the neighborhood quiet and close enough to all of our destinations.

Clean, comfortable and large house

This was perfect for an early family Christmas as my siblings and our families came to town to visit our aging mother. Tons of space for kids to play and plenty of TV’s to watch the games and cartoons. Host was terrific and we hope to come back next year. Highly recommend!

Kids really enjoyed the basement game room, playing ping pong around the clock. The basement is huge which was really nice. Plenty of space for everyone. Host communication was excellent, even when the power went out, they brought over flashlights and batteries since it was evening and there was no other form of light. Most of the beds were comfortable too. A few wishlist items- 1. blackout curtains for bedrooms (the one bunkbed room has them but no others), 2. A TV in the bedroom in the basement (all other bedrooms have TV's including the bunk room) 3. Warm light bulbs (personal preference here- I have a really hard time being at ease with bright LED and daylight colored lightbulbs, makes me feel like I am at a hospital)- some bulbs were warm white and some were the blue/white bright LED daylight color. 4. Some new fresh towels in the main level bathrooms. 5. A more comfortable bed or add a topper in the second primary bed- with the attached single sink bath. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it, especially if you have a large family as there is plenty of space based on the layout and also would definitely stay again!

Great place for a family gathering

The property is just as shown online. My 3 grown kids and their families joined us for a long weekend. Each family had it's own space for the evenings. For the day time, there was plenty of space for the kids to play and for adults to visit. We enjoyed the game tables and games in the basement. This is the best place we have rented as a family and will kerp it in mind for the future.

phenomenal stay

This was the perfect place for our family and friends to stay for state wrestling in Des Moines! The basement is huge and we loved the ping pong table, huge sectional couch and pull out couch bed. Plenty of bathrooms with everything needed and we used the kitchen to cook two meals everyday. Nice living room and the dining room table was our hangout spot for cards and laughing! Will definitely book again.

Wedding Weekend

We came in town for our son’s wedding with several family members. The home is beautiful! Very spacious, well-equipped kitchen and massive family room! We had a fabulous time! The hosts were very accommodating and so helpful with anything we needed. Highly recommend! We will definitely stay here anytime we are in Iowa!

Amazing home!

I have rented homes for 30 years and this home ranks in the top 3 we have ever stayed in. The owner was very responsive to questions. The house is SO spacious. We were in town for the wedding of my daughter and the family stayed here. There was plenty of room and very comfortable for everyone. It is easy to find and conveniently located. We had a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this home!

Christmas 2024

We had a family gathering and this home was perfect for that. It is so much bigger than it looks from the outside. The home was clean, organized and had everything we needed to have our family Christmas celebration. Tonya was very easy to work with and very responsive. Anniversary get together

We stayed here to celebrate our parents 40th wedding anniversary. There were 8 adults and 5 littles under the age of 4. There was plenty of space and we all felt like we had our own getaway when we needed it. The hosts are so thoughtful for families as they had some much stuff for kiddos! The house is set up great for family gatherings and was able to accommodate us well. Merle Hay offers lots of fun opportunities to get out and enjoy the city as well!

Beautiful Home & Great Layout

Beautifully remodeled property with great layout! Having two king-bedroom suites a huge plus. Generously sized bedrooms and plenty of common living space to hang and relax. The home was conveniently located in nice neighborhood with a short 10-15-minute commute to downtown. Host was great with communicating pertinent details and providing extra touches in the home. Would highly recommend!

The home was perfect! Very clean and well-maintained in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We only had 9 of us but there was plenty of room for everyone to have their own space while also allowing us to spend of time together as a group. Plenty to do for all ages. Best stay ever

My company came to Iowa because we had a booth at the farm progress show. We chose this amazing home because it was going to be five of us coming. We could have not asked for a better place to stay. We were able to get together at the end of each day and talk about strategy for our next day. The house was very clean, plenty of room, and included everything we needed. The host was exceptional. When we come back to Iowa, we will be staying here again!
