The Mermaid Inn Beach Cottage/ Seabrook/NASA/Kemah

Make some memories at this unique, family-friendly place. Enjoy a quaint cottage by the sea with breathtaking sunrise & beautiful sunsets. Access to small private beach. Sylvan beach in LaPorte is close by. There’s a wildlife preserve beside the neighborhood & a walking trail that runs along Todville Rd & Pine Gully. Conveniently located near the Kemah Boardwalk, NASA, 30 min to Galveston & 30 min to downtown Houston.
The space
This house was built in the 1950s. It has the original hardwood floors except in kitchen and bath which have recently been renovated.
Granite countertops thoughout.
Smart devices on all TVs to stream movies. Hulu and Disney+ are ready for your use.
This house doesn’t have cable tv.
Guest access
There’s plenty of parking in the driveway and overflow parking on the concrete slab to the left of the house.

Do not park on the first and second streets from the beach. They ticket for this.

Golf carts can be rented and delivered from several local golf cart places and can be driven through the neighborhood and down to the beach, but not on the beach. You can park in the grassy areas.
Other things to note
The deer are very friendly here as they are accustom to people. They generally do not let you pet them. Remind children these are wild animals, not a petting zoo.(remind adults too)

Nice little cottage near Seabrook/Kemah. Clean & well stocked! Fun decor too. Owner was easy to reach, check in was easy with an access code. Owner even gave us a restaurant recommendation for dinner. Good experience, would stay again.

We loved this little and cozy cottage, walking distance from the beach, enjoyed the back patio with the fire pit and the front for coffe in the morning. we saw some baby deers and wild cat was a plus and amazing. The master bed was surprisingly comfortable!! We really loved it definitely recommended and planning coming back .

Adorable Cottage in a quiet deer-filled neighborhood

We had a delightful stay in this charming cottage. The amenities were everything we needed and more. The neighborhood was quiet and serene with deer just strolling around. The beach is a bit of a walk for this old lady, but I managed! The location to local area sites to see was very convenient and The owner was very responsive to our reservation requests and you can truly tell she takes pride in her home. Highly recommend for a nice, relaxing stay!

The property is exactly as shown online. It's a little out of the way but the beach is a 2 minute drive or 10 minutes walk. There are deer and peacefulness. The property has all you need and a few good places to eat nearby. Including Kemah.

Quaint

The mermaid inn is a quaint little cottage and decorated cute as a bugs ear. We really didn’t spend much time in the cottage as we were in the area for a friend’s birthday but it was just perfect for our needs. Only one issue with shower and the host would have looked at it if notified sooner but like I said we really weren’t there that much.

I am from Louisiana and grew up moving back-and-forth from East Texas to West Louisiana quite a bit. My father was a Baptist teacher. I like to believe that when people stay at this property, they get lagniappe.

Why they chose this property

I bought this house in 2016 when my father had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The from the moment I walked in this house, I fell in love with it, and it brought me so much peace and healing. I love watching the sunrise from the beach here. Eljardin Del Mar is the best kept secret of Houston. We are a party community that likes to fish a little.

What makes this property unique

On a street named bland where all the homes are pretty much gray or white the mermaid is “sweet as honey” 🍯 so this property is anything but bland.
