Old Naples Historic Home, Beautiful, Quiet, Ideal Location

Naples Historic Home - Remodeled 1 Bedroom Cottage, Ideal Location, Pool, Gardens

AVAILABILITY: Our guests return frequently which gives us the assurance that we have created accommodations of the highest standards. For the 2024 season our return guests have us booked January thru end of April. Our rental history: In addition to the winter season we are frequently full in October and November. Family and friends join us from about December 20 through January 1st. Please consider the 'summer' season, May through October. The weather is delightful, the gulf is warm, the roads are less traveled and the restaurant deals are fabulous. However if we do have and opening in Jan-March we require a 28 day minimum booking. We will consider a two week only if at one month away we still have availibility.

Accommodations: Attached cottage west, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeps 2 - However we no longer accept pets due the health of our own dog.

Exceptional location, quality and style. Walk 600 feet west to the beach near Naples Pier or 600 feet east to shopping, restaurants and entertainment on 3rd Street South. The Naples Daily News ran a feature article about us and our home on December 9, 2010 - 'Mystery in its History'. Our home was also featured in a 6 page spread in Naples Illustrated, September, 2011.

We have remodeled our property to the highest standards. It is a spacious (520 square foot) 1 bedroom apartment. The main room is of an open plan with comfortable seating , with flat screen TV, Comcast DVR, DVD player and stereo system. The bath has a shower-tower with a rainhead shower and hand-held and multiple body sprays. The bedroom has a queen size bed, an antique wardrobe and closet.

Highlights include recessed lighting, travertine floors, granite counter tops front patio faces our palm garden and opens to the butterfly garden with a path leading to ample paved parking. The 30’ x 14’ heated swimming pool has a 30’ x 10’ lap lane with a sun shelf and wide steps to the side. There is an outdoor shower surrounded by palms.

Our residence in Old Naples is a contributing structure to the Naples Historic District. The Main House was built in 1912 and The Guest House was added about 1940. The Guest House functioned as a “radio shack” for sophisticated amateur radio. Our remodeling work added central air conditioning and heating and hurricane resistant windows that have both temperature and sound insulating qualities. We are in a quiet residential block yet only a few minutes walk to a spectacular beach to the west and the best of Old Naples dining and entertainment to the east.

Due to our own dogs health we are no longer accepting any other pets for guest.

The perfect place

It's been our second stay with the Bishops in their wonderful place in the heart of Olde Naples. Staying at TerraPalma is an unique experience. It feels better than any 5-star hotel and you won't miss anything. In that case, the perfect hosts Judy and David (not to forget their nice Puppy Biscuit) will get or organize in an instant. Their place is not only well equipped and lovely decorated. If you like to spend the day and night outside their manicured garden and patio with a stat-of-the-art BBQ is the place to be. Beach and Naples Pier ar so close that you can fire up the grill, go for a swim and/or watch the magnificient sunset and be back for dinner within a minute. Bars and restaurants on third street a only a short stroll (one small block) away and off great opportunities for a night cap and people and luxury car watching. We can't expect to return to this little paradise.

Great Winter

David & Judy Bishop are the perfect hosts, we have been going to Naples for years and this was our best experience by far. Their attention to detail is unsurpassed, if you are looking for a rental in Old Naples this is the place. We are counting the days until next year.

Perfection in Old Naples

This is the perfect location just steps to the beach, beautiful Third Street, and a short stroll to Fifth Avenue. David and Judy are the perfect hosts with great attention to detail. We stayed in the guest house which is lovely and very well equipped. The gardens and pool are magnificent. The hot tub was a daily treat. We have been coming to Naples for years and this has been the most enjoyable stay. We are looking forward to our return next year.

Quiet as the country, Conveniant as the city!

We are looking forward to our third stay at David and Judy's" home away from home". We have stayed at other places in Old Naples but this is our absolute favorite! You cannot ask for such gracious hosts. The cottages are neat, clean and tastefully decorated. Close to everything we like to do. We look forward to the helpful hints they give us on places to go. They never steer us wrong. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone. I promise you would not be disappointed. See you in 2015, David and Judy!

Our best stay in Naples! :)

My husband and myself had a wonderful time in David and Judy's guest house. We have been going to Naples for 8 years and this has definitely been our best stay! The house is clean, well equipped and so relaxed. We were surrounded by a beautiful garden and we had use of a lovely pool. This house is also the perfect location for the beach and cafés and restaurants on 3rd street ( Tonys on 3rd is fab for a coffee and cake!). The owners were so helpful and did everything to make sure we had a great holiday. Thank you to David and Judy for a fabulous stay and we can't wait to go back. C & R

An Oasis in Olde Naples

Upon arrival, you will find this vacation rental cottage to be clean, quiet, homey in decor and equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable: bikes, beach chairs, beach towels and more. The location is ideal, situated just one block to the beach and half a block to the quaint 3rd Street Village which has some of Naples finest restaurants, shoppes and a Saturday Morning Farmers Market. This is what Olde Naples is all about.....a historic home, lovingly restored, set amidst a tropical landscape in the style of Old Florida. My favorite part of the property was a garden oasis where you can sit and enjoy a leisurely cup of coffee in the morning amidst the butterflies and blooms, or grill up a local catch at the barbecue amidst the garden torches with cocktails. A nap on a float in the pool in the afternoon and life is grand! The owners are very gracious and aim to make every part of your stay as comfortable as possible. I would definitely recommend this property.

A great spot!

We really enjoyed our stay here. They thought of everything -- right down to the sunscreen and coffee. What else could you need. Accomodations were very comfortable and well finished - definitely a 5 star. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else. If Naples is on your list, definitely check this place out. We stayed in the studio and it was perfect for what we needed. Thanks so much to our hosts!

Location, Location, Location!

Location, location, location! Walk or bike to everything!  I had the pleasure of a long term stay in May.  The privacy of each cottage has been designed by a well thought out and beautiful landscape.  Truly an upscale hideaway haven with a "European B&B" feel. Judy and David are meticulous with their superior decorating tastes and cleanliness.  You feel very welcome without ever knowing they are around.  They will assist whatever your needs and respect your privacy. The gardens,  pool & hot tub are a wonderful mid afternoon break from the sand and surf.  BBQ and have happy hour on the patio before a sunset celebration at The Naples Pier! I returned back in June and again in August and plan to be a regular. I'm in love with the serene retreat "Terra Palma". Enjoy your stay!

A magical property!

I just returned from a week in the East Cottage of Terra Palma while a friend stayed in the Guest House. We both enjoyed lovely accommodations with the most exquisite attention to our comfort ever experienced. The owners had thought of everything! Do you want to feel spoiled? That's how we felt the whole week we stayed at Terra Palma. Furnishings are of the highest quality, bath products are liberally provided, treats in the frig on arrival. . . what's not to love! The owners are knowledgeable about the area and love sharing information upon request. This is a magical place to spend time.

Ecellent stay!

My husband, our 12 months old son Jan and I stayed at this location for 10 days in october 2010 and it was great. Everything was very clean!! The furniture are of high quality and we could get anything we needed (especially for an infant) from the owner. They were so helpful and nice! The location couldn't be better. It was just 5 minutes (walk) to the beach!! That was our 12th time at Naples (from Germany) and the best!!! We would like to come back to this condo the next time again!!!! It was very good choice!

After first visiting Naples in 1993 and staying at a variety of rental properties and hotels the Bishop's purchased “Hack’s Shack” in 1997. The home was named after one of Naples’ pioneers and leaders. Mrs. Bishop saw the potential beauty before her husband who was a design consultant. He then spent countless hours endeavoring to remodel the property to modern standards while respecting the home's heritage and character. “Terra Palma”, the new name for the home, is Mrs. Bishops permanent residence. She and her husband had also lived in London, England for 4 years and enjoyed extensive world travel. Mr. Bishop passed in 2014 but Mrs. Bishop continues to operate Terra Palma.

Why they chose this property

We have not found a better place to live. We’ve searched throughout the US and Naples is our choice - my catch-phrase for Naples is “quiet sophistication.” We are surrounded by large, beautiful homes in a residential neighborhood. We have everything we need a short distance away and a brief evening walk brings us to a tranquil beach and the best sunsets in America.

What makes this property unique

Terra Palma is in a unique location; high rise condos and hotels are far away; streets are bordered by lush vegetation; traffic moves at a leisurely pace and people are very, very friendly. Whether a traveler or a local worker, we are here because we want to be. Conversations with strangers are easily started. Naples continues to charm us every day.
