Johnny Cash "Rambler" on Main - great accommodations!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Johnny Cash "Rambler" on Main. The accommodations were great - it had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. The location was great - you're right on the main street so we could walk everywhere. We were also minutes away from Custer State Park. We would definitely book there again!

Central location for Custer, SD

Property was as wonderful as advertised. Sarah was easy to communicate with. The unit was clean, bed comfortable, heat worked great, mini kitchen just right, nice shower, and bonus small washer and dryer. It sits right on the Main Street in town where you can walk to grocery, shops, and restaurants. Parking is a short walk around the corner, but we did pull up to the door for loading and unloading. This is a studio type unit where there is a partial partition from the living area and bed area, but not a door. The bed sits off the kitchenette area. Only drawback is some road noise, which we were aware of, but they have a floor air purifier that helped a ton. The unit is very central to Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, and Wind Cave National Park. Plan on a day for each and leave time for Needles Highway and the Wildlife Loop!

This was a great stay for us. No kids were with, just my husband and I. Impromptu getaway. We did CSP and BHNF. Perfect locale. Adorable little place with a very cool theme. We'll be back.

Great

We had a great time. The apartment was lovely. It smelled so clean. The book was a great resource. It would have been great to know the history of the house and the saddle in the window. Thanks for the pass to Custer State Park.

Beware if you have pet allergies!

We came to Custer over the 4th of July. Sarah had great communication in the beginning. We booked this property because it stated no pets! I received my pre-check in questionnaire and it asked how many pets are we bringing. I sent a message to Sarah asking about the no pet policy and she said that was correct. I told her we have very bad allergies to pets and needed confirmation that no pets have been in this vrbo. She confirmed. We arrive around 1:00 am and as soon as I opened the door it was like hitting a brick wall. Instant headache and congestion. I can smell pets a mile away and there were definitely pets in this room. I emailed and asked about it and Sarah said no pets have been there. As we are looking through the information on the coffee table, it states pets are allowed if you stay at least 3 days. I also asked about that and she said that is paperwork from the old owners and they forgot to remove it. Now as I’m reading the reviews, pets have been allowed and she was the owner or manager a year ago! Now 3 days later I am still suffering from severe pet allergies. I would never have booked had I known this. The smell was horrible. The carpet in the the living room area was filthy and hasn’t been cleaned in awhile. The bed is hard as a rock. It’s a cute property but beware if you have pet allergies! She said she would have it deep cleaned so I hope that happens! We never did receive check out instructions so follow the instructions listed on the refrigerator.

Enjoyment

Lovely property with convenient access to all the Black Hills locations, esp. Custer State Park. Walkable to restaurants and grocery. Fun decor. There was some road noise but a sound machine was available. The washer and dryer was an added convenience. Management was very responsive when we had a question. Would absolutely stay here again!

Great stays

Our stay was short and sweet, stayed only a couple days and the place was exactly as offered updated appliances included, and two beds for the size of the room, we couldn’t decide if we wanted to watch tv so we left both beds open, wine was a great surprise, for the prices this is one of the best rentals you can get

Great location, great hosts and great views.

We had such an amazing adventure while staying here! Right next door is an indoor axe throwing place and it's SO fun and child friendly.the house itself is cute and everything you need. I would highly recommend the breakfast burritos from the taco truck which is just a 1 min walk from the home! I would 100% stay here again based on location, hosts, activities etc. Thank you for hosting us, you guys are great!!

Custer National Park

We spent 5 nights in the apt. The pros: LOCATION. We were within 4 blocks to the restaurants we wanted to visit. There is a small grocery across the street. The apt is well appointed with everything we needed. CONS; It is on the main street and morning until about 8pm it is quite noisy. The bed is quite hard and the roku system was difficult to maneauver. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons.

One night stop in Custer

We loved our stay in this unit. Everything about it was cozy and comfortable. We slept so good in the bed. Loved the comforter! Sarah was a great host. She was immediately available for anything by text. The unit was well-stocked with what we needed and was conveniently located to great restaurants nearby. We’ll definitely be staying here again next time we come through Custer.
